You can't push Drogba off the ball if defenders did accomplish this he drew a foul. In his prime nobody could do this better at the time.

It was sheer desire to be on top of every situation on the pitch, he dived, pushed and did anything to give chelsea an advantage. He used his strength to his advantage, got himself mentally ready for the top games and was a renowned world top 5 striker even without the technique of ibrahimovic.

You can't compare Costa to Drogba. Drogba was an elite striker....Costa is good but nowhere near great.

Top-class strikers: Cavani, Ibra, Lewa, Suarez

Solid strikers: Costa, Martinez, Benzema, Dzeko..

Good second options: BONY

I'm comparing their passion for the game, the way they show fighting spirit on the pitch. Things that only the mentally strong do.

Just did a comparison, he has as good a completion percentage as Lewandoski, and has scored about half his goals with rhe left foot and another half with the right. More successful take ons than Lewandowski+Sturridge. Dude is legit and about to hit his prime.

The question is: Is Costa individually that good? or is Atletico's system giving him the service to capitalise and score 25+ goals in the league this season?

Both.

You think Torres would score 25+ goals playing their system?

On the other hand, it's not guarenteed for him to score 25+ goals in our system.

Well I am not sure, didn't they leave him out against Villareal and Barca, 2 much more potential difficult games than today. I think he insisted he wants to play otherwise Simione wouldn't have let him. But yh I think you might be right, if he is knackered today then we know he is not exactly fully fit. But then again we are playing them in 4 days so hopefully he is off form by then too.

People comparing Drogba's lack of technical skills to Costa; need to stop. Drogba's first touch was class. his agility/dribbling let him down. Costa is a direct player, he's not going to wow us with something out of nothing. he's predictable. he's the center forward all center backs want to play against. he's a bully, but ask any defender, he's rather face a physical striker than a pacey/skillful one who can create something out of nothing in those tight spaces in the final third. Drogba is an exception, because his physical strength is out of this world. so the only "physical" striker I would be scared to face is Drogba.

There is nothing Costa can offer that Lukaku can't. like honestly, if we're going to break the bank; let's sign a world class all round complete player for once.

Except score 30+ goals a season. Lukaku and Costa are not on the same level. One is a world class striker, the other is a kid learning the trade. Lukaku's goal per minute ratio is no better than Eto'o or Demba Ba.

30 goals a season? Costa might have 30 goals in the Spanish league...but I will guarantee, he will struggle to score more than 25 goals in the EPL next season.

Costa is NOT a world-class striker, he's a good striker having a top-class season.

I disagree. He would score 30+ for us, he has everything needed to succeed in the EPL; power, pace , can create. He is having a BREAKTHROUGH season. This is not a fluke.

Oh please! This guy has been consistent throughout the season and has scored against the biggest teams in Europe.Also it's not only about his goal tally this season but also his link up plays with his team mates. The latter being a very important trait to have for a Chelsea FC striker.

Costa is by far the best possible option we have at the moment and I think he'll do well for us next season.
