Great question

Maybe he starts with it on just in case the match is very physical and then once he realizes it's not he takes it off? It definitely is weird/funny that he always ends up removing it.

Yep, I can sympathise with this... before a game I'd always wear knee pads to protect the knee I severely damaged a few years back. If I found the game wasn't all that physical or the surface was soft enough to not need them, I'd remove them at half-time.

But physical challenges can happen at any time. Or what if the opposition suddenly decides to take up the physical approach in the second half when they didn't in the first?

Then you put it back on. Its psychological as much as anything.

But if he's already aware of that after the first 2-3 games, then why continue to wear it (especially when he doesn't look to be concerned about taking another whack to the face)?

I think he prefers 20-25 minutes of his injured face to be exposed rather than the full 90, it lowers the chance of him reinjuring his nose, but he can still be able to completely focus for the last 25 minutes when the game gets nervy. I imagine it gets sweaty and hot under there

http://www.espnfcasia.com/chelsea/story/2445300/cesc-fabregas-marks-chelsea-season-7-or-8-out-of-10

Fabregas is currently on 18 Premier League assists for the season, just two behind his former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry's record of 20, something which he admitted was now in his sights ahead of the last two games of the campaign.

"Now that we are champions I would be lying if I said I was not excited about that," he said with a laugh. "Yesterday I told [Eden] Hazard I'll pass you the ball, and you shoot every time. In any case, I'm happy to have beaten my personal record of 17."

Lol, gotta love his honesty. I hope Eden takes the advice to the heart and carries on for life. He needs to shoot more, he has a very good finish, he just needs to release it.

Any idea why Fabregas wears the mask in the first half of matches but then takes it off in the second period? Seems odd.

He wears what he wants, He wears what he waaants; Fabregas is magic, he wears what he wants.

I have no idea why he did what he did. Makes no sense. He isn't that much of a hot head, since this is his 2nd red card since 2006. Wondering whether he was just bored with the endless Costa drama and just wanted to shoot. Never seen him do this weird shit

this is probably the best analysis of what happened
