Muzchap 8,966
I thought Lampard was easily MOTM - he was sharp, quick and kept the ball moving. If Matic had been next to him instead of Ramires - we would have bossed the midfield even more.Ramires had an awful game, sloppy in possession and distribution.Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Eto'o were all guilty of 'poor' decisions in the final third. I kept thinking if this was City or Pool, they would have scored more...Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted with the win - just think it's abundantly clear (to everybody) that we need to work on the final third and ensure the players make better decisions. Times where they could have slipped team mates in, they chose to shoot and vice-versa, passing again, instead of shooting.I'm confident this will be addressed when we have a striker that can play week in, week out - to build consistency and players will know where the striker wants the ball. Both City and Pool have this - we are rotating heavily up-front and it's not helping (but we have little choice). All positive signs for next season....Again - thought Lamps rolled back the years last night and looked great. The only place to be 11,313
Great match, great atmosphere but Galatasaray were really poor. We barely got out of first gear and could've easily scored more if we'd gone for it but there really wasn't a reason to.As usual Hazard and Azpi were spectacular again, Ivanovic, Terry and Cahill were solid as ever and Eto'o showed once again that he has to play every game between now and the end of the season. Lamps was brilliant in midfield, both defensively and going forward and probably deserved a goal and was my MOTM.Ramires was atrocious though and is becoming a real issue for us in midfield. Couldn't complete a simple pass and just did more to disrupt our attacks than the Galatasaray players did. Willian too was fairly poor in possession. Fortunately Oscar seemed to have woken up a bit and I was delighted he got an assist (his first since the Southampton game). Still has a tendency to under-hit passes especially when players are through on goal but he worked hard and it was a vast improvement on his recent performances.Nice to see Kalas get some time as well. All in all a professional performance and onto the next round.

StasisAEL 29
great game, our whole defensive line was the motm. didnt allow anything to come anywhere near close to Cech's net. great performance from almost all off our players.Cech was never really needed except from a mix upIvanovic ruthless 9/10Cahill pretty good but wasnt really needed once again, helped with scoring that thunder from 2 meters 9/10 Terry pretty good as well 8/10Azpiliqueta no words. was helpful in defense but in attack as well. never stopped running. in fact i think he still does! 9/10Ramires just bad. was just running around without knowing what to do 3/10. would have been replaced if he was eligible in epl for next gamesLampard sensational performance from Frankie despite his age 8/10Willian absolutely dreadful. just holding the ball way too much and doing nothing meaningful. should have be replaced earlier 4/10Oscar nicely played by Oscar even with moments of blackout. 6/10Hazard just another great performance by Eden. he would get a 9 if he just shoot more instead of passing all the time. 8/10Eto good game from our old lion! 1st shot 1st goal. what else would anyone need for boost? 8/10Mourinho never really allowed Gala to get on the pitch with a high defensive live and pressing to the other half, making changes to freshen up the attacking line. 9/10Referee bad referee. sharing yellow cards with such an ease. lost control of the game within the first few minutes. that one is a dangerous and ignorant referee 3/10overall we had a pretty good game BUT against an opponent who was so much weaker than us.we need to score more and stop wasting so many goal scoring chances (torres)P.SOur fans were thrilling. Drogba got what he deserved. An ovation from every single fan of Chelsea but also Galatasaray. Brought me chills when the game was finished and the whole stadium was cheering for him while he was crying.P.S#2DD#11 you will always be our BLUE KING.P.S#3Sorry for the long reply

Eggman 118
I think this was not the most exciting Chelsea performance, but a very solid one. Sure, Gala played badly, but let's not forget that this is a side who is capable of much better things if they are allowed to (they did qualify in a difficult group). When watching the game, it was unthinkable that they could muster up a chance -let alone score. So, without burning up too much energy, we were in total control the whole game, and that was pretty fun to see, even if it wasn't very spectacular and all.Hazard should shoot more, become more egoistic, take more responsibility. With the status he's acquiring this season, perhaps he'll feel more at ease with such a role in the next.In fairness to Torres, I think any striker would have gone for goal in that position. And scored, of course.
Special Juan 28,141
Oh and by the way, Melo was an absolute twat again last night. The way he threw himself in the air was laughable.
TorontoChelsea 4,064
Ramires was atrocious though and is becoming a real issue for us in midfield. Couldn't complete a simple pass and just did more to disrupt our attacks than the Galatasaray players did. Willian too was fairly poor in possession. It's odd because I thought Ramires would have been the player to benefit the most from Mourinho's style but he's been awful. Willian really needs to move the ball quicker. It's a big problem we have in attack. There's way too much standing around over the ball waiting for things to develop instead of making quick, incisive passes.(Also a problem with movement and spacing but it's all connected). It is his first season in this country and he's probably missing his winter-break but he needs to start contributing in more meaningful ways. Zola's Flick 57
Excellent win against a very poor outfit.Professional, job done, in to the next round. Hazard, Azpilicueta and Cahill were very good. Also impressed with Lamps' contribution yesterday.Good to see Didier return. Many of their old players like Melo and Sneijder have lost what they had though so I see them having a few years in the abyss, especially with such an average manager in charge.CAREFREE

Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
I'm yet to understand how people said Oscar had a bad match... or poor as I read or even giving away the ball too much (as if assisting Eto'o and winning the corner for the Lamps corner assist wasn't enough).Just watched the match and the only thing I can complain about is Ramires - he was pretty useless, and HE gave the ball away too much. I won't bother to say shit about Torres because that's redundant.I think Hazard/Willian/Oscar worked beautifully together... yes, we still failed to capitalize in the final third, but that universal in our team...I just wish Eto'o was actually capable of playing away matches for us too. His finishing was clinical in that goal.Azpilicueta is really out of this world. I can't praise that guy enough. He's just immense. Lamps had a very good first half... I think in the second he dropped a bit, but he had SUCH an impressive first half, that dropping a bit doesn't compromise his presentation at all.It doesn't cease to impress me how much space and movement awareness Schürrle has, but we don't pass the ball to the boy... It drives me crazy. None of our strikers or AMs (maybe except Eto'o) puts themselves in dangerous/shooting positions better than André does. Our defense was flawless again and while I think Willian wasn't anything special, I also think some were harsh in their criticism. We only had Ramires playing badly and the number 9 guy did his thing... which is sucking monkey balls...I was very happy with the presentation. I hope it builds up the confidence for Arsenal and that Oscar carries on improving. I think his worst match for us was 2 or 3 matches ago (can't remember the opponent) and he improved slightly ever since coming from Brazil NT. I think today he improved a bit more. If he continues the progress he'll peak again when we need him the most.Hazard had an amazing match again and I hope he rinses and repeat it against Arsenal.I feel like we'll draw Barcelona - which I think it's a good thing actually. Hopefully whoever we draw we play the second leg at the Bridge.Oscar was extremely frustrating to watch in the final 3rd... poor decision making and taking way too long to make them too. I know he's young but he needs to get better in that area of the pitch and fast. Sometimes he doesn't even have his head up to see where the pass should go, he just blindly fires it into the area hoping someone is there when a better option is there if he'd look. Peppen 934
Gotta agree with the Willian sentiment. Not that he is playing bad or poor in any way, but I expect more of a talent like him. I think he needs time to adapt, and next season he'll probably flourish. High hopes.Azpi, what a guy. Best purchase in a long time considering value for money.Oscar looked far more lively. Good to see.
