Rashford and martial are his worse nightmares. He can bully Salah at least and is fast enough to keep up with him.

So no he hasn't improved but also yes he isn't as bad as last weekend. I think zoumas performances this season will depend on the opposition. I reckon he'll be good against the likes of Kane and Mane because he'll get to use his strength

Did not think my comments were nasty, just joked that you started your post by pretty much accusing folks of judging him by a single game. Even though most of us have been watching him play for a very long time... kinda weird actually.

I don't think that your comments were nasty. It's all in good humour, we're all Chelsea fans!

I think it's harsh to judge Zouma in a Chelsea shirt after that one bad game. Prior to that, I don't think we've seen anything negative from him to be honest, even when Jose used him as an auxiliary CDM against Spurs! He is never going to be a consistent starter for us, but Lampard obviously sees something in him to allow Luiz to go; I think he can be a decent squad player for us. We need to be more conservative in our judgements, I think - no need to get carried away with any great individual performances, but similarly there's no need for us to blame him for Sunday. The good thing is tonight's team performance should have banished the demons from Old Trafford and we can all move on.

i thought I saw enough of zouma to know I’d like someone better to start for us. But yeah hope he can become a good/decent squad player for us since we will def need it.

Oh, I'd definitely like someone better starting, let me make it clear. He can be a good squad option, for sure. I liked his no-nonsense approach tonight.

He could go up one or two notches and we should still be looking for someone better.

Zouma does not belong in the starting XI of a top club. Just look at the type of players other top clubs employ.

also, cb pairing demands complementary skills, not similar ones. Without a solid passer, rudiger is hardly it, we would be easily pressured by high press sides like city or even Tottenham. Mistakes can be forced too.

We watched different games buddy. We conceded 2 goals, he was asleep for one of them.

Salah had a strong game and kepa stopped him a couple of times.

but please let’s not discuss whether zouma can tackle, defend, win headers, that’s not my point. Likely he will settle and do that consistently. If that’s all it takes for you to think he’s a good starter for us, great! but that is not nearly enough for me.

I will write my last post here, and make my point, so not to dwell on it.

zouma is a fucking terrible footballer and I wish he played elsewhere, esp a direct rival. But he’s here, so I just hope that he wins high balls, tackles and doesn’t fuck up.

As for becoming a better player, he won’t. His technique is just not good enough at this level. He will hold us back in a different footballing era, when defenders played a different sport.

What's wrong with Christensen? Would have rather seen Tomori - Christensen than Zouma. He seem to have absolutely no clue what he's doing, not just because of this match or his own goal.

He's awfull, i've always seen it, from his beginning when he was 16 for Saint Etienne, everybody was fascinated cos' he was so physically strong for his age (In France they love the very athletic players). He'll be 25 by October. He's no long viable for "Prospect" status anymore. If he's not good enough right now, he'll never be. Sell him in the next summer is our best option You can look at Phil Troll at Manure for reference. He's almost 3 years older than Zouma and has played in the PL for nearly a decade but still making rookie errors here and there. And i'll consider Jones to be better than Zouma in technical ability. Zouma still pretty much the same player under Mourinho 4,5 years ago. Time to milk as much money from Everton as possible for him. Say if we can get 40 -45m for him, i can suggest some replacement like Mathias Ginter/Jonathan Tah/ Nikola Milenkovic/Kristoffer Ajer which available for around 35-45 m.
