Safir Zawad 54
Please tell me you're not using Pep's words as an indication for someones ability to play in Mourinho's counter attacking system?Kroos played DM under Jupp too doesn't mean he is effective in that role there. The teams you mentioned are built on attacking, this team is built on defense leading to attacking. Not saying I wouldn't like to be proven wrong but I HIGHLY doubt Mourinho sanctions a big money move for Kroos to play in the pivot. What bout Kroos on a free transfer next year? Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Kroos has never defended in his life ? Is that a joke ? The man played sometimes the first CM in the Guardiola system this year. CL semi 11-12, go look at Kroos perfomance against Real Madrid, thanks to him, Bayern took the advantage in midfield because Ozil (A MOURINHO MIDFIELDER) wasn't capable of putting pressure on Schweini and Gustavo, he isolated Xabi by himself too (like Oscar did on Pirlo).Kroos is a better player than Oscar right now, nobody in this world can deny that, nobody. He's better than him in practically everything but Oscar is far from his best.None of those teams have been noted as defensive teams AT ALL! Kroos, no matter what you'd like to think about his defensive contributions, will never play in the pivot for a Jose Mourinho team. Unless of course he does a complete 180 and doesn't care about team defense.

He really is a new player, a better player defensively and I don't think you have to refer only to this Guardiola team when you talk about him. Have you forgot about him under Jupp?! That wasn't a possesion-based team, they were also defending in numbers and counter-attacking everytime when they had the opportunity. And Kroos has played as a "10" for that team, but also as a deep-lying playmaker.
jmarlow 458
You said you watch Kroos week-in, week-out, but you really forgot his performances under Jupp... And that was a similar team to Chelsea, only with much better players and a much better coach. Also with a counter-attacking plan in its philosophy where Kroos was the number 10!Kroos at 22, under Jupp >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Oscar at 22. The fact that you would compare us from last season to Jupp's Bayern team is just laughable! also Toni Kroos's role in that Bayern team was very very different to Oscar's role! 2012/13 season where Kroos played more as a number 10 got 9 goals and 8 Assists. Oscar in the same season played out of position on the right wing in his first season in the a new team, a new league and a new country at such a young age and got 10 goals and 6 assists.but yeah according to you Kroos is way better right?and at the age of 24 Kroos hasn't really kicked on much at all! there hasn't been a massive improvement in his game in the last few years! Kroos is almost 2 years older then Oscar and imo Oscar is already the better player!

Can't see Jose doing that, this team is built on power and pace, Kroos offers little in that regard and isn't exactly a defensive dynamo... I'd be SHOCKED if Jose sanctioned that move. So we're replacing a guy who is still on the roster? My bullshit detector is going off. Sounds more plausible that someone from Kroos' camp is trying to drum up ridiculous rumours to get him a new deal.

He wants it dubbled. Apparently Bayern have made it clear that €5m per annum will be that last offer he will get. In response, Chelsea said "wages not a problem" should he decide to leave.I'm also a journalist here in Romania (I know, Romania, but at least we have the best Journalism and Mass Comunication College in Eastern Europe) and rumours don't come out of nothing. Now, if Mourinho will bid for him or not, that's another topic. The beauty of silly season!

cadenza666 221
I think we should not buy a new midfielder a ????????????one of our most glaring problems apart from our ST position was finding a consistent partner next to Matic. Lampard will leave soon, Rami is good some games otherwise totally reckless and horrendous, Van Ginkel has just recovered from a cruciate after being out for a year, Mikel is o more a regular. and could be sold to be replaced by Tiago. Could move Oscar there, has played a couple of times for Brazil at the Olympics but id rather we buy a specialist CM

What I meant was that we have countless midfielders in our squad and there are many who are on loan. Van Ginkel has played in Defensive Midfield before, so we can try him in that position!
