Agree with the points raised about RR. Im not that big on him either defensively.

But why not target another LB. i know there are not many others that jump to mind other than RR, but i put trust in the club's scouting/Conte's team to identify one that can be a solid starter for this team.

I mean even Conte seems to hate the inconvienance of a right footed left back playing behind Hazard. During the West Ham or Watford match, (can't remember which one) someone even pointed out that Conte at times wasn't happy with how long it took for Azpi to get the ball to Hazard. So much so that against Watford in 2nd half, he had hazard playing on the RW to make that transition easier.

I know a lot of people rate Fabinho, but that still means Azpi at LB. Im so sick and tired of this inverted fullback nonsense. And most importantly because it's not like we have Guardiola on the sideline doing this for some highly intricate possesion based play. We're simply doing this because we have no one to play LB, so Ivan must continue to start.

That must end by the time this transfer window shuts.

/rant.

Everyone should be tired of it. IDK what left back would be a good fit right now.

Dortmund seem to have gotten a good one.  Gaya for Valencia is interesting.

I like Rodriguez, but I have the same concerns. However, he may just end up playing wing back for us anyway. How is that for you?

Exactly.

Getting a starter at this point will be nearly impossible because no one will have time to replace whoever they sell us, we have pretty much just screwed our defense up.
It’s a shame too, because this started some promising with Batshuayi and Kante. We have such a huge gigantic glaring hole in the middle of our defense and LB. Azpi is competent there defensively but offers absolutely nothing going forward. If we had a LB that was even SOMEWHAT capable of going forward and providing a cross, it would open up so much more for Hazard. As it stands right now, nobody respects Azpi and they know that even if he overlaps he’s no threat to cross the ball, so they pretty much ignore him knowing that even if he gets the ball he is just going to cut it back and play the ball back towards our end or right back to hazard. I have seen this happen COUNTLESS times and it is sooooo frustrating. It’s not his fault of course, he isn’t very good with his left foot and he’s being played out of position. Even if you do consider him a good left back, there is still next to nothing behind him except kids. Then of course Bran is just awful through and through on the right side. Signing a good left back would kill three birds with one stone. It would add another CB to the mix (Bran), Strengthen our RB position significantly (Azpi), and strengthen our LB position (new signing)

At least our flanks would be safe for the season instead of that last season ivanovic nightmare.

Don't know how successful that would be tbh. But at this rate, just hope the club sign an adequate Fullback/Centre Back before the window closes, and then go on from there.

Chelsea make a move for Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez [Kicker]

The kicker article they quote says that Chelsea was rumored to be interested and that wolfsburg doesnt allow him to leave. So nothing to see here.

Kicker just reported, doesn't have actually any concrete information. Zero reliable sources all over again. Stories copy&paste from British which means another zero reliable. For a very long time nothing concrete and no real connection with top players or superstars. Total silence. Tomorrow is D- day and looks like club doesn't respect Antonio enough.

Anyone else think this guy would be the perfect upgrade for Alonso in the LWB role? With Wolfsburg struggling, I think he's attainable.

Quick, pacy, direct and can put in a mean cross. He sometimes struggles defensively but it wouldn't be that big of an issue playing in a 3-4-3 system.

I think Cahill and Alonso are two players that need upgrading at the end of the season, potentially even Matic and Pedro as well (I just don't completely trust them).

Rodriguez, Hector or Creswell for me :) Alonso can also play LCB ;)

He would be a great signing I think. Obviously like most fullbacks these days he's stronger offensively than defensively but he's a pretty decent defender too. Great crosser of the ball, takes a mean free kick as well... and takes penalties I think?

In our 343 he would be excellent. He's mobile, strong, has good technical qualities.. would be a improvement on Marcos I think. I'm sure I read he would be available for a transfer next summer as he has a release clause that comes in to play then. Or maybe I'm wrong, sure I seen that somewhere. Might need to check.
