Seeing more and more rumblings about him going to United. Please don't let our our be stupid enough to send a very good player to a direct rival. Matic may not be a first choice player for us next season but he's still far too good to be sold to a team that will surely be challenging us for the title. He would complete their midfield and free up Pogba to roam around more easily.

Unless we're bringing in world class players in their positions there's absolutely no way we should even consider sending players like Matic or Willian to direct rivals. These are they quality options a top side needs to challenge on every front.

You are absolutely right. There is no room for soft sentimentality like in the cases of Cech and Mata. Shit's getting serious and we need to be ruthless or risk getting left behind.

No, my point has been emphasizing Matic's importance and high participation in all success we've had recently. That when he had a bad season we lost our edge. The comparisons with a bit part player who had few minutes and even fewer starts in the last 4 seasons started by someone else.

Easier said than done on not selling Matic to United, btw.

I know, Matic has been important and if we still had Mikel starting for us we'd be drooling over Matic. My response was because it seemed to me like you were blaming Mikel for ending up 10th, when he rarely played in the worst half of our season, but instead featured prominently in our best period that saw us finish 10th. Wanted to address this underappreciation.
