Well he did it with Bertrands and Cole( who imo will not be here next season) and he has proved it before, anyone who get on his bad side is done whether they are his enemies or allies. Ranging from Pepe, Wenger, Pep, Pellegrini, Casilas, Ramos and so on...etc. Did he actually repair his relationship with any players/managers before? or after the mind game battle they are considered enemies forever like Mata, Kevin?

Bertrand was injured most of the time and Mourinho never seem to trust anyway to begin with. As for Cole, he was already being dropped after that poor performance at Newcastle and doesn't seem to be trusted since. Both not even comparable with Schurrle's case. Mourinho's fallout with the other players you mentioned there is, again, not even the same situation as Schurrle's. They all fell out with him for different reasons and it would be rather idiotic and petty of Mourinho to have Schurrle in his bad books just because of one party. That is just ridiculous.

And I would agree if he wants to win the game, but telling the player to have a jog here and there in a match he clearly doesn't care about, at least make it seems like he is giving other an opportunity by playing them. Might as well get raped 5-0 instead of playing our best 11 and lose 'only' 2-0

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I agree that Schurrle probably should have played today but who on earth would expect us to play that poorly with that best XI out there today? Had we won or draw, would you even be complaining about this point? And how is that Stoke game something he doesn't care about? If he doesn't care about it, if he doesn't care about the FA Cup, he would have played all the kids to begin with. If anything, Mourinho is just picking the side based on the opposition we face.

Well he did pretty ridiculous things before tbf, this is not the 1st time. His things have been both good and bad such as parking the bus tactic against Barca at their brilliant best and won, poking Tito in the eye, Reaching 100 points with Madrid, losing to Atletico at home and so on...etc to sum up his career have been full of controversial incidents and decisions, it is what making him who he is today. Schurrle isolation rank no where near compare to some other imo.

If we won obviously not, well I would still complaining about Schurrle situation but not with Luiz or any mistake the team made. The Stoke game was a mandatory must win, we won despite playing 2nd team, they were terrible as well so that contribute to it. Then can you explain why he instructed the team to pass around slowly and let City swamp all over us? Or is this just that they are too good? I really doubt it. Our team approach is down to the coach's instruction, make no mistake, if he told the players to go out there and attack until their legs are broken, they will do it and THEY CAN DO IT as shown 2 weeks ago. He didn't want to play kid because he didn't want to be seen as throwing the game away by the fans, but now it looks that way anyway with his approach.

Blimey! Are you seriously suggesting that Mourinho had intentionally asked the players to pass the ball around slowly?!

People wouldn't disagree with you about your point that Mourinho should play the kids (at least some) but to say he didn't want to do that because he didn't want to be seen as throwing the game away is ridiculous when he has always take every competition seriously, however small or big.

Not directly but through indication. Something like this ''OK boys this match is not a must win by any chance, just don't go out there and make us looking embarrassing. Try to limit their attack by not allowing to surge forward at will and most importantly DO NOT DO ANYTHING STUPID AND GET YOURSELF INJURED, we got really important games coming up and games like these are not worth it''

Or at least that is how the players shown on the pitch in the 2nd half. Btw your point about him taking the competition seriously, then why didn't he tell the team to go for it in the last half and hour? Or do you think they are seriously that tired they are incapable of making runs...etc anymore? And is this a coincidence that this game is very similar to the Basel away game, when he told the players to park it 100%?

Would say the approach at Basel was even more of parking the bus than at City today as that wasn't even the case at the Etihad. If you have players not performing and turning up, then you will always gonna have issue regardless of what the manager tells the players to do. When you see the players can't even keep possession properly, hurried the passes, losing challenges, then the problem is more than just instructions from the man in charge.

Probably won't happen but sort of mentioned this before, seriously hope someone ask Mourinho about Schurrle in his next press conference. A bit silly and ridiculous that not one fella from the media seem to ask him about this and only bother in asking silly/repetitive questions!

The reporters are too busy looking forward to his next response to Wenger to ask a question that would actually be decent.

Isn't that what Jose is aiming at? That no one questions his team selection or the bad results?

It's the classic diversion tactic. Hardly a word has been mentioned of our last 2 poor performances especially after the West Brom game. But still, it's ridiculous not one (NOT ONE!) fella in asking such things and everyone only seem to bother in indulging getting quotes and soundbites out of Mourinho.

probably

especially team selections. He never seems to have much patience when questioned about it.

Why so? You referring to the De Bruyne and Mata situation?

no, he says journalists should talk about the guys hes does pick, not the one he doesn't pick.

I remember one of his first interviews back here when a female journo from Brazil asked about Oscar and he thanked her for asking about a player that was playing and not the ones who aren't. It seems a clear message to me he doesn't like to justify why he keeps players out of the team.

Think that was because he felt annoyed at being asked so many times about De Bruyne and Mata - who weren't playing much then - even when he has explained once or twice about it. It's probably only fair that we get to know at least what is going on with Schurrle when we haven't even heard anything as to why he's isn't playing much yet.

I'd love to know why he hasn't played. My point was just that it bothers Mou to give explanations about players he doesn't select although if asked he should and shouldn't complain about it.

  • 2 weeks later...

He's not world class but this is what squad depth is supposed to be.

We lost some points in the past because mourinho made mistakes of not rotating his squad. Good thing he rectified that mistake.

Only two players who are overworked. Rami and hazard who we really have no better options at the moment.
