this is my favourite away kit.

Chelsea FC - 3rd kit (Umbro 1993-1994 season)

You're right. Nice shirt. Home ones ok too for that season.

But didn't give the lads much luck. I dont think we won or even drew a game for 3 months of season. Then we got smashed in Cup final to the fuckin Mancs! I do remember wearing it to an Oasis gig down here at the 100 Club and got a wanker gesture from Liam so I gave him some back and got covered in beer! I didn't care. I was mad for it at the time!

Indeed. That design reminds me of this one. Probably my favorite away/3rd kit from Adidas:

Manchester+City+v+Chelsea+Premier+League

Its that shiney fabric I didn't like and the multi verical stripes. But yeah its getting there.

We look back on the 90s for being baggy and sometimes a little too flamboyantly designed. We will remember the late 00s and early 10s as simply being overdesigned and messy. \

It's still going on in some cases, like Spain's away shirt.

New name/number set is coming next season

New kit manufacturer, new numbers, CHAMPIONS patches :D I can't wait to place my order for a Kante shirt.

Meh I liked the traditional PL logo and numbers/names on kits.

It was nostalgic thing, the kits were different, but print on back was not year after year. You get different fonts for CL and cup games anyway.

Some things should never change...

Tbh I find timing of these changes funny. We live in years when retro is getting more and more popular, years when everything had to be modern and futuristic and new were few years ago. Nowdays popular is simple and retro. The cars are getting inspiration from older versions, same for kits, old boots are being re-made like classic predator or R9 cleats.

And yet PL is making these changes now.

Everything in PL is turning away from tradition. From football to public picture to youth management. Its all about the money these days.

It's not anything new. They've done this every decade. In 1997, they standardized all numbers to the same font. In 2007, they changed to the current style. This year, they'll change to the new style.

La Liga is going to standardize font for all kits next season as well.

I'm sure it's partially due to having a uniform visual identity throughout the league. I also imagine it is partially due to making sure kit makers don't make it hard to see numbers because they choose a certain style/color that can be hard to see from distance.

Anyone know any release dates for the new strips yet? Also, how do Nike shirts fit compared to Adidas?

I'm guessing that something in the Adidas contract prevents us from unveiling/wearing the new Nike ones before the end of the season like we usually do?

Yeah, this is the case. I don't think we'll see anything official until July as contracts usually run out at the end of June.

As for fit, it's hard to say in general. Sometimes a template will fit me well in large and sometimes it's too small. That's the case for both Adidas and Nike for me. I have a USA Nike shirt from 2010 that fits great as a large and I have another from 2014 that is a little tight. My 2014/15 Chelsea shirt is a little tight in large but my 2015/16 Chelsea shirt fits perfectly. However, in general I would say Nike shirts fit about the same as Adidas, if not maybe a half size smaller. They're definitely cut differently.

Just out of curiosity which is your favorite home kit?

If I like your choice I might buy that. :)

Guys want to buy a new Chelsea home shirt.
And my options are from 2012 season and onward.
Anyone help me which out of all those years you think was great?

In my opinion 13/14 and 15/16 were both great shirts.
