If we sign Reus, I'd go as far as saying we'd have the best front six in world football.

In terms of pure attacking I would however tempted to Real Madrid. Modric, Kross, James, Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema... But overall, that six - Matic, Fabr, Reus, Wllian/Oscar, Hazard, Costa - would be top-notch for sure.

In terms of balance, we piss all over Madrid IMO. In terms of pure attacking firepower, as you say, Madrid easily top the bill. But I'd pick that Chelsea six over that Madrid six any day of the week.

One year ago I'd have taken him in a heartbeat, but his fitness issues are becoming increasingly worrying. And he suffered those injuries in the Bundesliga, imagine what could happen in a physically demanding league like the EPL. That makes him somewhat risky signing, but as long as we take him on a cut price deal, he'll be worth it.

Having spent 18 months or so screaming that we should sign this player, I'm suddenly developing cold feet. I did not see all of Reus's performances between his return and most recent injury setback but he was far from sharp in those I did see. If my assessment that he was off the pace is correct there could be many perfectly reasonable explanations for a lack of sharpness when a player returns after such a long lay off. Especially when he's coming into a struggling side. Still, I have to admit that what I saw was worrying enough to make me wonder if the injuries have cost him something.

His best two choices would be Real Madrid or us. If Madrid sell Bale to United in the summer then Reus will probably be the man to replace him.

just hope there is no Hazard to Madrid saga. I know the move is inevitable but hopefully we'll get to keep him for another season or two. So losing out on Reus to Madrid wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for us.

I can't see this happen. Why would Real Madrid sell Bale? He's been fantastic for them, Ancelotti likes him a lot, Ronaldo reportedly enjoys playing with him... Why would they sell him to get Reus?

Inevitable how?

It just baffles me how some of you guys think Hazard will leave us in the near future for sure.

I think Bayern more than deserve a mention, Alonso-Schweinsteiger-Thiago/Gotze/Muller-Robben-Ribery-Lewandowski. In terms of balance they're the best right now i would say, in terms of attacking firepower i dont see them as inferior from RM. James Rodriguez a hugh overrated for me, defentely not better than Gotze or Muller, and Bale also an overrated.. great goals, great individual. but not a good enough team player for me.

The red mist is descending....

How many times do people have to be told...:

BEING HURT BY A HORROR TACKLE BETWEEN ANKLE AND SHIN DOES NOT MAKE YOU INJURY PRONE!

Otherwise it's like me hitting you in the kneecaps with a sledgehammer repeatedly and declaring you injury prone because you can't run.

Being injury prone means that you have constant recurring injuries that come from minor challenges (Jack Wilshere) or without any contact whatsoever (muscle strains/pulls etc).

Maybe Chelsea fans have been spoiled by watching Hazard who gets nasty challenges every week and through some miracle (I really don't know how he does it) gets up and carries on but most players CANNOT shrug off challenges like this:

Reus is a quality player, and should be our main target in January. We might well need a CB more but in the summer we have very little chance of getting Reus once his release clause of £25M becomes active because everyone and their dog with half a brain cell will trigger that release clause and then it's up to Reus to decide.

Even though logic dictates that he should choose us, there's no guarantee that he will (Real and Bayern have a strong pull you know...) so it's best to try and get him now. Dortmund would much rather sell him to us than risk him going to Bayern and if we threw in Schurrle as a makeweight then even better as they have a ready made replacement without having to delve into the transfer market.

And if they have any issues with wanting him for the rest of the season (for the CL maybe as Schurrle would be cup tied) then we could do a loan back clause for the rest of the season for each of Schurrle and Reus. On top of that we could give them Schurrle + like £15M and providing they value Schurrle over £10M (they should, he's worth more than that) then they're getting a better deal than in the summer anyway.

So that's why Reus should be the no.1 target for us this window, because if we don't get him now then it's likely we'll never get him and we'll have to either stick with Willian or sign someone else (Cuadrado looking the best of a bunch that don't look that much better than Willian himself). Zouma/JT/Cahill/Ivan are 4 good enough CBs to last us through to the summer and we can solve that problem then.
