Fernando Torres

I just asked you something else in the other thread because you're still in my cool people list :P

Sorry, but Forza Inter always and forever :P

And I'm a RM fan too, so yeah, we only have Chelsea in common and the year we were born if your id says anything.

But in all honesty for a couple of years the only team I've been following is Chelsea. I've been an Inter fan for almost 30 years and while I've been a Chelsea fan for only a little bit over a decade, it took my heart. I'm a football fan, and in Brazil is common to support teams in Europe because we watch the leagues here. So yeah, I chose a couple of teams as I've started watching their leagues, but now I'm done. I still follow the news about Inter and RM (actually I went to the movies theater to watch the UCL final last season and RM made me lose my voice for a couple of days), but it's all about Chelsea and I don't see it changing. I love the Premier League, I'm passionate about everything in this country regarding football, so my connection with Chelsea is much stronger than the rest, but they'll always have a place in my heart.

Actually, pretty much same here for me, only replace Inter with Milan. Still sympathize the team, follow the news and watch some matches, but it's been mostly Chelsea in the last ten years or so.

All right, I can forgive you Inter. :P

Yeah, this is gonna happen for sure, that's the feeling.

We have only Pazzini (omg...) as striker, we need another one.

And Torres is the only "free" player with a big name on the market. The only problem is that we'll give him €3,5 millions for two years, so it looks like Chelsea has to give him money to leave.

Moreovere, today Berlusconi is coming to Milanello (the place where the team trains, etc).... As I said, Berlusconi never see the team or matches, so if he comes maybe it's because he wants to announce the purchase of Torres (yeah, wow...).

I would like to ask you this: is Torres really this bad?

Yes. Don't believe a single word of people saying otherwise. He will not regain a single iota of the ability he had at Liverpool. He may do well at Milan, I don't know but do not for a single second believe you will get the Torres of old. It's more than a loss of confidence, that is a foolish statement to make. He quite simply is not physically capable of doing what he used to. He is as bad as Pazzini albeit not as infuriatingly lazy.

  • His pace is gone.
  • His finishing is atrocious now. He simply can not score goals like he used to. His goals were more than pace, he had an amazing shooting technique and scored some beautiful goals. He just can't do that anymore.
  • His dribbling is poor.
  • His passing is average.
  • His decision making is rotten.
  • His first touch is decent.

There is a chance he will succeed at Milan but keep your fingers crossed and pray to the ghost of Gunnar Nordahl.

You're being a bit too harsh. Finishing and decision making can be improved massively with confidence. Now, I don't believe for a second he will be significantly better for Milan, because even having said that, I think he's weak minded and a broken player. He may have short periods of confidence when he will look decent like he has had for us, but I don't think he will ever be consistently good again. It seems to take too little for Torres to give up and start playing poorly with no confidence.

It is sad to see Torres leave, because he will always be regarded as a flop. I believe we flopped by paying 50 million quid for him. He always worked his socks off and can never be descibed as lazy. How can i forget his belief goal against mancity in the 90th minute,or his goal in the europa league final, or winning the corner for that drogba goal in munich, and of course that great night in catalunya. If only we would have played to his strengths like playing the ball to space rather than to feet when he can easily be bullied. He had his fair amount howlers but always gave his all for the blues. Good luck FERNANDO T , I hope you tear it up in italy which wouldnt suprise me one bit

Moved your post here as it was in the wrong place to begin with.

So Skippo...

Getting a good #2 striker and getting rid of Torres in the same deal?

if it happens, party-time! :yay:

Also, Skipper, didn't you say you would run naked on your local street if Torres was sold in this window (or something along those lines)?

Haha yes I did, I genuinely will do so if it happens. Save this post

:Goober:

I don't believe confidence has anything to do with his finishing. His technique is bust, he is incapable of scoring the goals he used to. If he were more composed he would score more of the easier goals but I refuse to believe that he would be capable of this

Poor Milan fans...

"Lol. Torres has won ECx2, WC, CL.. He does not need mentoring.. He knows how to score.

What he needs is confidence. Seemed like he got trapped in a downward spiral. Change of scenery will do him good."

Can't blame them for holding out hope. We've been doing it for years.

LOOOOL.

I would do this, I'm just waiting for the medical to go through + need someone to record me doing it.

LMAO what was your exact wording? You might be able to get out of it on a technicality if you said 'sold'!

I disagree. I think confidence and finishing are very closely related. Just to give you an example, I've seen Neymar fail to score goals for Barcelona that he used to score for Santos and Brazil with his eyes closed. I can't watch the videos because I'm on my phone's internet but being confident in the moment of the finishing may change everything, your composure, the type of shot you're going to use, whether you should take another step or not, whether you should try another dribble or just shoot... confidence can completely alter what you're going to do to score. Back to Neymar, I've seen him shoot the ball on the opposing goalkeeper countless times for Barça in situations where he would just chip the ball over the goalkeeper if he were playing for Santos or Brazil, solely for lacking confidence. Other times he would try to dribble too much, other times his aim looked completely off...

Still he probably won't ever score as many of those goals based on pace. Which he seemed to score quite a lot.
