No Goals for Villa in 5 games (I know its goal.com but I couldn't find the other link)

Maybe the Spaniards are a little tired.... Or maybe all the Spaniards stink?

I had to turn off my Google alert because every other alert was Torres is a Flop, Liverpool happy to have Carroll, blah blah blah

Ah, forget it. Torres had a big day today, he was awarded by his hometown, visited the sports complex which bears his name and he's joined up with his Spanish mates. He'll be alright. The goal will come sooner or later. He's a pro and he get through this.

Meanwhile enjoy all the media attention he's gotten today.

Oops, the second link is the Spanish version of his site and there's a video of the ceremony honoring him. Sorry I don't know Spanish myself. I use google translate for the text. If you click on the British flag on the upper right hand corner, you'll go to the English version of his site and there's an article on his day but no video.

Torres came on as a sub today against the Czechs and Spain went from 0-1 down to win 2-1. That's the good news. Villa was brilliant. Nando, though, I hate to admit, was pretty awful. Cost Spain possession and was very hesitant in the box.

I don't like Del Bosque playing Villa as a central striker with Iniesta and Navas (or Pedro) wide. Villa isn't a really a lone striker nor a central one, he really benefits from having a Torres or Llorente on the pitch. After tonight's performance, I wouldn't be surprised if Torres is benched again but Del Bosque switching back to having two strikers with Llorente partnering Villa next Wednesday.

Cech did make a good save against Torres at the very end. Don't know if it was on target to go in though as Nando was shooting well wide of the goal.

Yep, I agree and said it here. He needs to go see his family, have a drink or two, talk to Pepe, laugh a little, see the missus, do his thing, and try again. It wasn't his worst game ever, he had two chances on goal, but it wasn't good. God forbid, maybe he needs to call Rafa or better yet, Xavi Valero.

Apparently Del Bosque said this about Torres:

"De él depende su futuro en la selección. Él nos dirá el guión a seguir. Le hemos apoyado siempre pero su futuro depende de él".

Google's translation doesn't really make sense but some Atletico fans are upset by it because it sounds like Del Bosque is warning Torres to improve or his place on the national team is in jeopardy. Can anyone provide a better translation. If it's true that DB meant it, then that's awful thing to say in public. A coach has to keep that behind closed doors and back his player. And if he's not good enough, you drop him but why say it when he's still on the team?

I actually see the funny side of this: The time they spend on jibber-jabbering about history, we are actually achieving something on the pitch, unlike scousers who are aiming for their 3rd consecutive Europa League spot just to be knocked out by an average side in early stages of knockout rounds.Props for being a hypocrit
