Guest justin_3d
Painful to watch. But as Graeme said (who i think is bias, and one sided to Liverpool) anyone can make that mistake. Those guys in skysport believe that Torres is back.If AVB plays Torres next game as starter, i feel more confident in him continuing his goals or assist. Popular Post! ZanSnake 1,211 Posted September 18, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted September 18, 2011 He supposedly scored a goal, today against our biggest rivals, with a world class finish, yet we are keep talking about the one miss he did? Rooney scored a brace, but would everyone keep talking about him missing his penalty completely? The only video i have seen of the game so far is the Torres's miss, but yet it feel likes trying to find something sacred and to never to be seen. Torres played an exceptional game, and a follow up from the good game in CL where he got 2 assists. Confidence should be coming from him in the next game, if he can put his head into the game and go for every ball he can. I look at today as a positive and not a negative. Despite the horrorendous performance by our defence, which cost us any points - our attack clicked, and once Lampard went off, we became twice the team.We have to take the fact we are emerging from a re-grouping for our team, and should be proud we are putting such excellent performances, in such early days in what could be an excellent era for our club. Kieran. 6,317
Media hasn't been as mean as I thought. A lot of people believe Torres is back.
dodojojo 510
He is so right footed. He probably just over thunk it and should have gone with his instinct--which would have been to flick it with the outside of his right foot. I'm just pleading with everyone, the gods, the spirits whatever to laugh at the miss and acknowledge it was a double face palm but that the real meat of the matter was the movement and passing to get Torres into scoring positions today. First time I've seen it for a game in 8 months.
bababoom 4,478
I think people are making a big deal about his confidence, yes he missed a chance, but he will probably be more eager to try and score now. He played well today, and he scored.Rooney missed some good chances but i bet the media wont talk about that. Term-X

bababoom 4,478
It's funny that Torres plays his best game, once people actually start putting him through on goal. That's all he need people to put him through. nofreakingway and dodojojo

TomCFC 357
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on Fernando Torres' miss: "I thought he was bound to score. It was a bad miss, he had so much time. It reminded me of one that Diego Forlan missed for us against Juventus in a pre-season friendly." Popular Post! The Big Drog 1,110 Posted September 18, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted September 18, 2011 I don't cry often about football (Terry in Moscow and Champions League semi final second leg against Barca being the exceptions) but I was bloody close today when Torres missed it. He doesn't deserve it, he doesn't deserve the media hate campaign against him, he doesn't deserve the dissension he causes among Chelsea fans, he doesn't deserve the rotten luck. Today we saw Fernando Torres, not the broken down and battered Torres, not the disiniterested Torres that has a tendancy to shrug his shoulders, not the ineffective to the point of invisible Torres, no, today we saw Fernando Torres, Euro 2008 hero, one of the truly great talents in world football, one of the finest strikers to have graced European football in the last decade. Everything he did exuded class, the little lay offs, the neat 1-2's, the breathtaking off the ball movement and the most sublime of finishes, finally Fernando Torres took the mantle as Chelsea's great player. But heartbreakingly all we will hear about is the miss. Realistically at 3-1 with around 10 minutes to go it was improbably that we would have scored an equaliser anyway but that wont matter to the media, it will be Torres who lost us the game, not 2 poor decision from the linesman and not some shoddy defending for the 3rd, no all of that will be disregarded because Torres missed, there will be scarce mention of his goal or his superb run to set up Ramires (which imo was a bigger miss at 1-0 in the first half) no, as usual it will be Fernando Torres who has caused the downfall of Chelsea.I hope today's performance (miss aside) will bring confidence back to his game, imo he was our best player by a long way. The key now will be his reaction in the next game, if he plays with the same attitude and carries a bit of confidence out of this with him then maybe it will all have been worth it, if we as a team can keep playing in that manner then it will only help Torres. zolayes, ZanSnake, lecter and 14 others

Torres was so sharp throughout the game but one bad miss and now media can continue slagging him. I feel so sorry for him, because he was one of our best players today. Just hope he can forget the miss. Fortunately he has an opportunity to score a few against Swansea next week at Stamford Bridge. I do believe in him. Cmon Torres! nofreakingway

BLionheart 516
For a moment there i was like can he still do that when he ghosted past De Gea but i guess he is full of surprises !He created a great scoring opportunity for ramires and his link up play was amazing , he scored an El-nino class goal and he should ve had a brace ... i will only wait for a very good striker to lead the chelsea line from now on and that man will be Fernando Torres because he is finally back to his best .
