sleazyB 58
Yeah I thought he did well. He created that one on one for Oscar which was great. I think the addition of Hazard, and Oscar, And potentially Hulk/Moses, will help with Nando's game the most. He will get many games this season and with the squad we current;y have, he should have a good season. Its sink or swim.
DavidEU 2,023
I think if Ramis hadn't have cleared that one of the line, Nando would be getting a lot of credit for his performance. Seems like theres a very thin line unfortunately. On another day, he could have been given a penalty, scored his goal, and assisted Oscar. He did fine. Finally some perspective - he looked better than Suarez and Tevez combined
Fulham Broadway 17,313
Torres was very bright I thought, constantly running off his marker, but the midfielders rarely spotting the run - That changed a bit when Oscar came on, so that will all improve. TrippingStep 336
I do not think he was that bad in the second half (I didn't watch the first half), but I want to comment on another topic. I hope the board and managerial staff adopt a firm stand with him. I mean by that, that we should give him the starter position in something like 10 games in a row. If he fails to impress and to cimente his position after this run of games, then we should bench him, play Sturridge or whatever the forward that we have bought, and stop wasting our time with him. I know we have already said this many times in the past, but the board seems to keep faith in him, therefore, in this start of the season, we need to give him an ultimatum. We should fix the striker question as soon as possible. By the way, when I say "to cimente his position", I am not speaking about a goal here and a bad control turning out to be an assist there. I am neither talking about some promising signs that he can turn out to be good anew in an uncertain future. No, I am talking about genuine world-class performances, or not far away of that level.Even if he play good, I think we should buy a forward that is good with his back to the goal. Hamilton 2,120
You guys think we got a penalty if he didn't touched the ball?
BlueLion. 21,491
I thought he played well. Should have won what was a blatant penalty and then desperately unlucky to see Ramis clear his effort off the line. No support at all and he was targeted by two of the back three almost all the time - giving Oscar and Hazard plenty of space to manoeuvre into. Jase 43,479
Torres is just a frustrating player to watch right now. One week, he looks interested, chasing down balls, running around, working hard and offering movements upfront. The next, he looks totally disinterested. His body language is all wrong and then becomes all too static upfront without offering any real option of passing in the attacking third. One thing that terribly annoys me right now about him is whenever he is with the ball and there are 3-4 players surrounding him, he tries to do it all on his own by taking all of them at once thinking like he's Messi or something when there are options to pass to. More often than not, he ends up losing the ball and we find ourselves under pressure because someone can't keep it simple with the ball! CRonaldo 55
Not convinced by what I saw saturday...French commentators were positives about him, I'm not.And I think that Chelsea needs a striker.Torres is the only one. Sturridge as a striker in a 4-2-3-1? Don't know. But it's a big risk to have only these to make a whole season. When I see that we talk about Moses, who is a winger, I'm surprised.Mata, Hazard, Marin, Oscar, Bertrand, Sturridge Benayoun. It's enough. But only Torres, no.

CRonaldo 55
Yes but excepted Bertrand, they all can play on the right. And on the left. And Oscar, Mata, Hazard and maybe Marin can play center.
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Ah man I just hope Torres keeps scoring to shut these pathetic Torres haters up. Every time they make a post about Torres its suffocating. Nothing but blame no matter what he does. Oh man just to see your pathetic faces if Torres returns. Make it happen El Nino. OssiesCorner 14
I find it very strange that the likes of Pat Nevin and Dixon, two absolute Chelsea Legends (with a capital "L"), continuously supports Torres and points out all the good things he actually does in a game, when the forums are over flowing with haters saying we need to bring in for example Cavani, who was a pure JOKE in the Olympics when he didn't get any service. But hey, let's not jump to conclusions, after all what does the incredibly dumb Nevin and the joke of a striker Dixon know about football? Do they play enough Championship Manager? KonohasOrangeFlash

capriccioso 2,545
As we do to you.Thats the point. They are no more qualified than any football fan to come out and talk shit about Torres being a world class player when he patently isn't. Jamie Redknapp was a pro footballer, should we swallow his bile as gospel? Are we mere Soviet style androids, to follow orders and accept opinions without question? Are we to believe that Torres is great because of what a few Stakhanovites (keeping with the Soviet analogy) say?Torres has been varying shades of shit in his time here. I think everyone has deserved the right to hold reservations on Torres without having our sanity, intelligence and commitment to the club in question. We are not haters, we would obviously be delighted if he did the impossible and find his feet again, but we strongly believe such a transformation will not happen. Now you and everybody else can pretend everything is fine and dandy, but I'm not about to back down on my opinion that he has become a calamitous player. Peace. and Las7
Rubber bullets 1,183
Well if we go by that the Di Matteo obviously sees a lot of positives in him if keeps backing him, praising him and always pick him over Sturridge in the CF role (despite some here screaming that Sturridge should be fist choice striker). OssiesCorner 14
Who has said that Torres is a world class player in his form during his Chelsea career? Both Nevin and Dixon played football (and they were pretty damn good as well) and were the corner stones of our team before the online haters were planned. I mean, what does Dixon know about the job of a striker? What does Nevin, a highly regarded columnist for several newspapers, know about football? What does Wilkins, a pretty decent coach as it turned out, know about tactics and different types of players?Credit must be given where credit is deserved. Torres was one terrible referee away from getting one or even two penalties. For me, football is a team sport. If you assist (for example getting a penalty all on your own), then you've done just as good as if you've scored the goal yourself.
