I guess I'm one of the few who are not too phased with this whole thing. I don't care what other people think of our club. RDM wasn't the man for us. He was clearly going to be sacked anyways and yes while it was too soon, its perhaps better to just accelerate the process before it dragged on (ala AVB) and destroyed our season again.

Exactly. Perhaps Roman has thought "we are playing poor and aren't getting better but infact are getting worse, this could get bad" and removed Robbie for the clubs best interests this season. Every time Roman's done this, we've done better. Harsh as it is on Robbie it might work.

Finally some sense... Emotions aside that's exactly what's happened...

I guess you are right, but we have changed from a manager everyone felt connected with to a hated cunt. That is where the rage comes from...

More against the replacement then against the replaced.

Benitez is actually a decent manager (emotions aside), he got a shit Liverpool team always playing well against us!

Really??? I totally disagree w/ that sentiment. Look at the facts:

Now compare Telly Tubby's stats to our previous gaffers under Mr. Abramovich

The facts do not tell anything. Most of those managers did not even manage to last the amount of time he did at Valencia and Liverpool.

After having 12 hours or so to reflect on things the main thing that annoys me is the treatment to Rdm who has been so good to us.

Benitez is no one's favourite of course and certainly not mine, but he will do his best for this club and that is all we can ask. He may have said this that and the other, but it was a while ago and he was the manager of a rival club. Time to move on. Also it's not like he is here on a 5 year deal. Roman wants pep, but he has said he won't come back to management til next year... Chill people...

Thanks to Rdm for what he has achieved with this club.

Now rafa let's go beat city.

Ben Jacobs some guy from Sports Talks has tweeted some interesting things yesterday. It seems our situation in the CL was nothing to do with Robbie getting sacked.

Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

Rafa was offered the job eight days ago, so the midweek Champions League defeat had nothing to do with Di Matteo's dismissal #Chelsea

Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

In addition, #Chelsea fans, can reveal Benitez was offered Manchester City job last year but turned it down. Also claims Spurs wanted him

Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

@chelseafc It is also worth pointing out, as I understand it, Rafa turned down the #ManchesterCity job last year #Chelsea@ChelseaFC

Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

Rafa was actually approached before Di Matteo was hired, but Abramovic decided not to go with him. There was interest though eight months ago

Also something about Torres..

Rafa also told me Torres is nursing a knee injury and, although still playing, it is affecting his form/confidence

Finally, Benitez is looking forward to linking up with Fernando Torres again, but revealed he has a knee injury which is affecting his form

Another tweet on this "knee injury"

@TweetChelsea_niggling knee injury, nothing major but nothing easily fixable, just grating bone which has resulted in lack of pace/confidence

They are totally different teams though tbf. I. E. Every Chelsea team for the last 8 years has been better than the teams he has managed so it is unfair to look purely on win percentage.

So you're telling me Valencia winning La Liga twice in front of Barca and Real is not an accomplishment? That's 2 seasons of consistently outperforming everybody else.

And RDM only has a small number of games and you are not comparing RDMs WBA record with Benitez!

See how stats can lie.

Benitez isn't the best but he did well for Liverpool and they are shit - so could do well for us...

Well you would have thought they would have had someone lined up before hand otherwise sacking our manager just as we are starting a long stretch of games like 12 or something before january would be extremely stupid.

I know people are annoyed at RDM treatment, but how do you NICELY sack somebody?

The club have thanked him, haven't made any derogatory comments, all been civil?

Can't see how else it could have worked?

Don't say not sacking, as that's clearly not the answer...

What a joke of an excuse. Some of you on here are clouded by bias and hate. Rafa is a decent manager. You don't accomplish some of the things he has without being one over a long period of time like he has.

Are you really quoting his time at Inter as something poor? He took over in one of the worst times in the clubs history. No one could have done better.

His time at Liverpool was a great success if anything. That team went a lot further and better than it should have with the talent they had available. Now he has an even better team here at Cheslea, and hopefully he can give us a spark going forward, since we can't seem to finish anything in front of goal.
