BlueLion. 21,491
Wait he plays football too? I literally had no idea who he was and had to google him because he was the first one that Oscar followed. He's followed Niall but not Eden. Let the articles about a rift between Oscar and Eden begin! Big Derby County fan, but he lives in Surrey (I believe), and was invited to recover from a (knee?) injury he sustained when he fell over on stage during rehearsals. He's an inspiring footballer, like us all. No idea if he played for a team when he was younger but he's played in a lot of One Direction charity games. I don't know why he wouldn't want the world cup to start.. It's in his home country where he will worshipped. I don't know how this makes him seem any less committed to this club.. you're reading way too much into this.

I don't think he purposefully spared himself, he just got anxious and he wants it to happen already. It's probably a big dream come true and his little age and experience ended up cracking him a bit mentally.Understandable from a boy his age... I'll reserve judgment for now. bushman 2,043
If he got anxious, spared himself, then one may ask who pays his salary? As I already suspected his willingness to perform back in January, I don't blame Jose why he questions his commitment. To me, that's something Oscar needs to explain. Let's see him in Brazil & I am almost certain Jose will keep an eye on him.

And also that's only a theory, my take from it.I didn't like some of his recent interviews, but I'll judge him after the World Cup, but not for the WC, but how he'll react in normal conditions for him. dee25
Polo7 3,496
Been really disappointed with Oscar this year. Mourinho publicly stated that Oscar was his no.10, you need to give 100% after hearing that from your manager. He dropped Mata for Oscar and unfortunately Oscar did not repay the favour. He was killing it at the start of the season. Then Mourinho allowed Mata to leave. Suddenly Oscar's position is secured. His form drips as a consequence. Poor attitude IMO. kellzfresh and OneMoSalah

His form drips as a consequence. Poor attitude IMO.I agree with this.At the beginning of the season, he knew Mata was Chelsea's best player - and he needed to be at the top of his game every time to continually keep him out of the team.Mourinho making those comments and selling Mata - no doubt - made him lose some motivation to prove himself. Popular Post! dee25 1,044 Posted May 9, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted May 9, 2014 I don't think Oscar is the type of player to hold himself back for the world cup. One thing that's very apparent to me about him, is that he has an incredibly strong work ethic, and players like that tend to approach every match with the same dedication. So I really can't see him being the type to spare himself only to be fresh for the world cup.But really, who knows. I think people underestimate how difficult it is for young players to perform consistently at a big club, where there's a lot of pressure to challenge for trophies. This is even more so in Oscar's case as he's transitioning from an entirely different football culture.Someone on here said this before, but just look around at the top clubs in Europe - there aren't many young players around Oscar's age who haven't had a drastic dip in performances. Pogba for example looks a shadow of the player he was in the beginning of the season. What some on here need to realize is that unlike other top clubs, two of our best offensive players are very young. We're more reliant on Hazard and Oscar than Bayern is with Gotze or Real Madrid with Isco. Even Juve has Marchisio to rotate with Pogba. So Hazard and Oscar have even more pressure and responsibility compared to other young players; it can't be easy to cope with and it's not as if our style of football is one that's conducive for attacking players to perform to their best. I didn't mind the Mata sale at the time (he wasn't being used anyway) but I'm beginning to think it was a mistake simply because he would have taken some of the pressure & responsibility off of Oscar's shoulders. But on the plus side, maybe this experience will be good for Oscar's development and I'm sure he'll improve next season. OneMoSalah 8,886
I think what Mourinho is saying is right, Oscar was good at the start of the season then tailed off and when he says about Oscar having his mind on the world cup I think hes right.I feel players playing for a huge club who were competing for a league title and a potential champions league final shouldn't have been prioritizing a world cup which doesn't happen to after the season ends.Did Willian or David Luiz do the same as he did? No, did they hell. They got their heads down and kept going giving everything. Tbh if we play another player like Schurrle/Salah on the right I'd prefer to see Willian starting in the #10 position next season based on how well hes done the this season after adapting to the pace of English football.
