Azpinator 2,325
Is Chelsea a popular club in your family?I'm the only one who supports Chelsea in the family.. My parents have no idea 'cause they're not interested. I have 3 older sisters: 1st one supports Man U, 2nd one is with Liverpool and the 3rd is an Arsenal fan (We had an awesome time when they were the PL Big 4)... My uncle and cousin support Man U, I have another uncle and cousin that are Real Madrid fans.In the future, I would definitely force my kids to support Chelsea. Kezza 1,965
Its more they support them cause I support them. Always tell me they hope Chelsea are doing well, ask about players etc.But when I have kids, its straight to the infant section of the megastore
manpe 10,861
No, my family doesn't support anyone. I'm not sure how to answer the second question, since I have no children and don't plan to have any... but I suppose I would convert them to Blues, yeah. capriccioso 2,545
This is an excellent idea for a thread, Volt.None of my family know the first thing about football. My sister knows a very little bit (basically that certain countries are great at football and others are rubbish) because she watched some of the South Africa World Cup but she couldn't name you who the best player in the world is at the moment.I won't force my kids to follow football at all, let alone Chelsea. That is a decision for them to make. I will, however, force them to become cycling fans

francozola 2,040
My dad's a Liverpool fan he tried to force me to support them when I was really really young. Even took me to a preseason friendly when they came here about 10 years back lol but I never really liked them and when I saw Zola I fell in love with Chels
capriccioso 2,545
What if they become Liverpool fans and when you ask them what they learned in history they say, 5 and 18?Damn it, with my interest in history that's probably a question I will be asking them If they do take an interest in football at a young age I'll steer them clear of Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Millwall, QPR, etc. I won't care if they support City or United or some big team from the continent- just as long as they don't support a team I hate! Laylabelle 9,535
My dad doesnt give a crap about football really. My mums side..all Chelsea..mostly lol.One cousin whose a scum fan but more do with the fact he was born in the 80s..and they were doing well then and the popular team etc...Great Grandad was a Chelsea fan.His brother..Millwall so kinda lucky it went the way it did lol.And then took my Grandad..who took my brothers and once the holigism died down a bit (which my Uncles were a part of) mum was more able to go..and then took me when I eventully got into it.And did get told support Liverpool/Spurs..you can live in the Garage. My nan, both my Uncles and two of my cousins are also Chelsea. And she's also started taking her son to games so defintly still running in the family lolAnd think hate from Liverpool has grown from watching them play..the fans 'not our fault' attitude and my mum who saw them for the first time in the 70s.Said the players just came out with such arrogance like 'oo look we're at the Bridge we've won the game already' and then lost 4 something...Wouldnt force so much just guide in the right direction lol
capriccioso 2,545
It's this forcing thing I'm uncomfortable with. Why not let them make their own decisions? That way you can have arguments. Everybody likes football arguments. Also there is the potential for a family-wide football riot
Hutcho 8,443
OMG what would you do if your kid came home and said:"Dad i have something to tell you.....I am a tottenham fan."I think that would be just cause for getting a different kid. Gary Reid 25
I'm the first Chelsea fan in our family, I liked the 91 kit better than the other teams in Division One so I bought it with my birthday money and started supporting them. My brothrer was a man U fan buy switched allegiances shortly after the 94 cup final, he says it's because I locked him in a cupbard and wouldn't let him out until he supported Chelsea, I don't remember that event. Both my kids are Chelsea from birth 2000 and 2002, neither one has even considered supporting another club, why would they?

Everybody likes football arguments. Also there is the potential for a family-wide football riot I've already experienced that with my sisters.. the 05, 06 and 07 seasons were so much fun! But you know, at the same time, what if one of your kids chose Chelsea and the others didn't? That would make him/her automatically your favourite and that's not a good thing. So to me it's all Chelsea, no drama.

CHOULO19 24,332
When I started supporting Chelsea 10 years ago, no one in my family had heard about them, now, they hate Chelsea for being the cause of me keeping them up late with my screaming on a regular basis but they all pray that we win every game because no one dares to talk to me when we've lost. Duppy Conqueror 1,539
(i tried to quote someones post but couldnt and now i`ve forgotten who it was (i`m not well sorry for forgetting your name)i got a confession to make tho..regarding imagine your kid coming home asking/saying he supports Tottenham..when i was first starting to go to Chelsea ,Tottenham were a class above Chelsea,at times a division above. they played some real attractive football with the likes of Ossie Ardeiles (sic) Ricky Villa,Glen Hoddle etc..they were winning back to back FA cup finals which was quite a feat at the time.considering Liverpool,Forest and Villa had all won atleast one European Cup sometimes during a stretch of about 5 years. anyway.i vaguely remember it myself but my dad has mentioned it a few times over the years. i done the unthinkable now...i asked my dad if i could be a spurs fan (my ma wanted me to support her old local club Cardiff City.) i was torn into all directions, anyway i asked him and his reply came. "you can support whoever you want but if you want to go to the games, your options are Chelsea and England." i was a bit crestfallen for a while but then a few days later he took me to the bridge for a game against Newcastle and battered them..i think it was 6-1 i`m sure we scored 6 anyway. and that was that. i got back in his good books and he ended up taking me out to spain for my first holiday abroad but more importantly..the 1982 World Cup. i was at the England v France game but then had food poisoning and i stayed with my ma in the hotel as my dad took my sister to the rest of the games instead. i saw the mighty my world footballing hero of the time tho..Platini. (i know he`s an horrible cunt, but that wasnt evident to me at the time. just recall his fantastic player.) he really was at times arguably the best player on the planet in the early and mid 80`s.anyway you guys can kill me with fire now..i`ve just admitted my ol` love was platini and my ol` childhood fondness for the shite hart laners.as for who my family support etc.. on my dads side we all Chelsea..well my dad found out he had a few siblings that he never knew he had a few years back but they are scattered all over the world and mostly in countries where football either aint that big or hasnt been long..e.g New Zealand,Australia,Canada,Canary islands etc...as far as i`ve been able to confirm that i had chelsea in my family was from 1932.when my Grandpa used to go as a lil boy.on my mothers side they are mainly welsh and all either support Cardiff or just watch the Rugby instead.i`ll pass on the kids question,it`s best for everyone really mate sorry. Hahahah!!If I ever have kids and they said that to be would just hope they wouldnt ask my mum to take them to a Spurs game. She wouldnt last 5 minutes and be very quickly thrown out and banned for lifeAgree about letting your kids choose...long as it aint Liverpool lol.But if they became Man U...they wont be going to see them very often if at all being miles and miles and miles away and the only option really be going see Chelsea...can see how it would turn out in the end lol.
