Actually yes he is.

dont think so. in terms of defensive play, he is more robust than Shaw and bigger, but Shaw ist faster and more mobile. and in terms of offensive play, I would rate Shaw much higher than Rodriguez. futhermore Bundesliga ant as competitve as the Bundesliga, minus Dormtund-Bayern.

Sorry I disagree. Rodriguez looks better for my money. I like Shaw, think he's gonna be a nice player but I have Rodriguez ahead in every category. He looks like a complete LB.

The only thing I'd worry about buying a new LB is Mourinho's insistence that Ivanovic is somehow a better RB than Dave, even though Ivanovic's contribution going forward is in minus figures since the opposition is never concerned with him as all he does it cross it to no one 99 times out of 100. A combination of Shaw or Rodriguez along with Azpilicueta would be amazing. A Ivanovic combination, not so much.

I think Ivan has been favoured because of his height. With Matic now in the team this should change.

Shaw is great and I think the club should embrace new English talents, but he is not worth half the amount the media is throwing around!

With that price, Chelsea could easily trigger Diego Costa's release clause and solve our long ST problem...

Mourinho (1/2): "We have Ashley Cole and we have Cesar Azpilicueta in LB. Because Bertrand is leaving I'm bringing Ake now to the squad..."

Mourinho (2/2): "and even in an emergency Luiz or Ivanovic can play left-back. So even though Cole is specialist LB we don't have problems"

Seems like we wont get any LB this window.

I'm not saying Chelsea are going to sign a LB this window, but this is the exact thing Mourinho says everytime Chelsea are rumored to be interested in a player. "Well we are already well covered there with *******". Often saying there is no need to buy and such, I wouldn't take his words as the truth as it's most likely than not just a part of his negotiation tactic.

Rodriguez is 3 years older than Shaw and barely has more top league experience than him. For Shaw to be not just holding his own but also impressing in the Premier League when he was just 17 is a remarkable achievement. He has all the tools to get better too which is why the price is so high.

Just watched one of those YouTube compilation videos of this Rodriguez kid.

He...looks pretty fucking good. Anyone can be made to look great on YouTube, mind, but if he regularly plays like that and is still only 21 I can see why we're rumored to be after him.

I'd prefer Shaw still, but I think we'd do well to get either.

That's Essien gone then it seems. Be great if Aké got some minutes. He looked really good at the end of last season.

In a normal situation, I can't be bothered which left back we get as long as they are quality and can be of great for us but for the sake of retaining the English core in our squad, which we are lacking beyond Terry, Cole and Lampard, we need to get Shaw in.

I'm watching him closely here against Sunderland.

His ball control and link up play with the forwards has been impressive in the opening minutes.

I'm just imagining him linking up with Hazard on our left side. :)

I watched the second half of the game this morning and Shaw was ok.....

He can run forward well, but besides that Im not really seeing much else... However, this season, I've only watch a handful amount of games from him, so I am prob wrong.....

I dont really see this best lb potential people rave about. I see more of a teenager playing for a midtable team whose body mature well for a footballer... The funny thing is his other mate on the other side is prob better than him...
