Signing Shaw would be an absolutely massive statement from the club. No doubt he is wanted by City and every other top club (and also United!). He's the most sought after young English player of his calibre for quite some time. If we get him over every other Premier League club really says something. And it very much looks like that it's only a matter of time before we do.

And I don't believe he'll go for £30m. We apparently wanted £25m for KDB, but we accepted £17m. It's all part of negotiations. I say we'll get him for around £20m + add ons and or Bertrand at the very maximum. Maybe this summer or the next. It all depends on Ash's contract situation and performances, but I'd imagine they'd want him here alongside Cole for at least one season so he can learn from the best.

Well, it wasn't that likely that we would get him in january anyway, but with all the turmoil that has been at southampton the last days made it look like it would be easier to aquire players from them but now with their chairman is publicly stating that they don't plan to sell anyone and therefore denying all that, sure we could go all-in and bid a massive £30m to get him in this window, but I don't think we are that desperate and/or naive ( atleast I hope we aren't).

I'm already more than happy with Matic this window, fact is Jose have to do something about LB, but i 100% trust anything what will he do, even if he keeps only cole..

If we don't get Shaw this month then the club should not send Kalas out on loan. It'd be the perfect opportunity for him to get a few games and also would save us spending on a Plan B left back.

Shaw should be the only left back that we should be interested in. If he moves to another club then its a different situation but until then Jose should try Kalas out.

Yeah, this isn't sitting right with me, Bertrand out on loan and Cole not exactly setting anything alight this season leaves me both worried and also stunned as to why with a capable LB in Ryan we have allowed this to happen. Ok, so we know Dave can play there, but as well as injuries suspensions can also happen and I'm not a fan of square pegs in round holes even though Dave is more than capable of playing there.

I hope to fuck this doesn't back fire, lets get Shaw this window.

I dont believe Jose loaned out Bertrand and wont bring anyone in. Lb was already problematic because of Coles age and Ryans inexperience but now its even worse. A lb is comming in, im quite certain of it.

Seems logic, Rodriguez is amazing Lb, better than Shaw. But we seriously need more english players in first team, thats why we should sign Shaw.

The only thing I'd worry about buying a new LB is Mourinho's insistence that Ivanovic is somehow a better RB than Dave, even though Ivanovic's contribution going forward is in minus figures since the opposition is never concerned with him as all he does it cross it to no one 99 times out of 100. A combination of Shaw or Rodriguez along with Azpilicueta would be amazing. A Ivanovic combination, not so much.
