He's been their most influential player this season though.

It's Marseille in Ligue 1. He is quick, strong, and great shooting and dribbling technique, he doesn't have to be smart to beat defenders in Ligue 1 when he can just physically outplay them. That is what I imagine is the reasoning.

That may well be the reason but maybe he'll get smarter as he gains more experience? He has just turned 24 recently.

The potential money being thrown around if all four of those players listed move is really an abstraction to me. I can't see any of them moving for less than 50,000,000.

Thats ok if we sell him for 80-100m as expected!

I like how really means business at the business end of the season.

Example being how he rushes back these days to win the ball back for the team. Normally, the opposition don't expect him to do so, so its a big surprise to them when he does do it...catches them completely off guard. And of course, a help to our defense

Also, do the English press even care about retaining top talent in the PL? I suppose they don't care because its Chelsea, or they just love getting clicks on their pages...

They're all just parroting some alleged 'quotes' from a single source called 'Voetbal' . When did Voetbal become the know-it-all?

How do you rate Florian Thauvin? I know he had a disastrous spell in England but he has been in tremendous form ever since his move back to France, even managed to get a call-up to the French national squad. He reminds me a bit of Robben tbh, the way he cuts inside from the right to make use of his deadly left peg, also has a great delivery on him.

Not even a small comparison possible with the others mentionned. He has been good this season and was called to join the French national team but according to me he doesn't have the international level. Not a player for Chelsea standard even though he will probably have a decent career ! Not surprised he didn't make it in Newcastle ...

You realize we bought Lukaku, KdB and Courtois along with Hazard, Mata and Christensen.
The board has an eye for potential (or at least trust our scouts well).

I disagree. His ball control doesn't wow me at all. Genuine superstar talent but not because of his ball control.

Can't blame the club for not being able to sign players like Mbappe. When the whole world wants you, it's silly to assume Chelsea can just pick up the player in question.

I would agree with the club placing too much emphasis on the physical rather than the technical when acquiring players though. But that's also linked to the type of managers they appoint.

Maybe I should have said we don't value technique when we get strikers... We place so much emphasis on physicality but we should target both energetic and very technical players. Which is what mbappe is.

You said he's not technically great or his ballcontrol isn't all that, but you will find it hard to get a striker that always runs, energetic and still is as technical as mbappe. (Maybe lewandoski) Energetic strikers like costa are mostly clumsy on the ball but people still use them anyway because their energy and intensity is a nightmare for defenders. But mbappe is as energetic and still puts in crosses like a winger, still dribbles any defender one on one and has a cold blood finish under pressure.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I'm going to make this prediction, mbappe is born to be a top 5 world player just like we saw Neymar and hazard at his age.

Unless Eden seriously pushes for the move, there is no way Roman would allow the sale. And I don't think Eden really wants to leave. Just typically Real Madrid media circus stuff really. They might be interested but like I said, unless Eden really, really wants to go. There's no way we'll sell him.
