Come on man, he finished his last season at Lille with 20 goals and made a small team french champion. When he was like 20-21.

And yet, if you look at Eden's all touches videos from his Lille days, as I did when he was linked, there were many flat performances. In fact I posted (elsewhere) to say I wasn't over impressed but another poster, a huge Hazard fan, kept linking me new videos and said he was determined to find one I liked. Eventually he did and my reaction was, "Wow, if that's the player we're getting, I'm happy."

The truth is we got both of those players, because Eden is both of those players. He has 'meh' days, but he also has the days when he's up there with Suarez and Iniesta as the best of the humans. I made my peace with the 'meh' days long ago. In fact, those meh days are our friends. If not for them, Real would have bought him long ago. If not directly from Belgium, then definitely from Lille. There's no way an Eden Hazard who consistently performs as he did tonight would ever have joined Chelsea; European Champions, or no European Champions.

Shaqiri is a one trick pony who flopped spectaculary at Bayern Munich.

As was predictable, and predicted.

Maybe Eden is just putting himself back in the spotlight so he can seal a move to Real and his bro Zidane. I for one wouldn't shed a tear.

I definitely would.

I would reply to this, but then you would have to read twice, just in a far less articulate fashion, OhForAGreavsie's post.

As I've said a few times, he has the potential to be world class on his day, just like tonight, and even better than tonight if he would push himself harder. It just doesn't happen consistently, he has had very good performances with us, but also those, and I'm not talking only about the past season, where I was left hugely disappointed. Not to mention he's yet to show up in the CL.

Aside from that season (and even that season he started slowly, too slowly for a top top player.) he has never consistently performed on the highest level like he did tonight, He has yet to do this in the CL. And I still think he can perform even better than tonight if he would push himself harder. Then again I don't regularly lick his ass and wear red-tinted glasses. <_<

So your going to take that against him?

It's like saying Messi is not good because he don't perform with his national team.... Which by the way just failed again to perform in another final with Argentina....

Just to show that every player has its up and down but hazard is class and glad he's here with us.

Messi got 5 goals and 4 assists in the 5 games he played,

Shocker. Hazard wasn't as good or as consistent in Lille as he was for Chelsea in 2013-2015. Let's also compare Suarez from his Ajax days (why didn't Madrid sign him then, btw?) and Iniesta from his days as a bench player for Barcelona.

"Real Madrid would have bought him up long ago".

Yes, they wanted to sign him, but he refused to go there in order to get playing time. The same was Barcelona wanted to sign him as well. Do some research. You're way off in everything you typed.

Thanks Mr E.

You'll need to be more specific in your claim that everything I typed was wrong because I'm not with you I'm afraid.

I didn't watch Eden at Lille so have no idea of the accuracy of what you say other than that what you say does chime with the impression I formed from watching the all touches videos. That is, that I wasn't impressed by what I saw of Eden in those videos. If you believe that he didn't do particularly well in the period you refer to then I'd say I was right in my assessment, wouldn't you? I did then, eventually, see a video which impressed me and which caused me to say that if that was the player we'd be getting I'd be happy.

Yes Real would have bought him on the premise I gave because they'd have wanted him as a starter and he'd have signed. I know you understand the concept of a premise, so what are you talking about?

What the hell do I know about Real's historic attitude toward Suarez & Iniesta, and what does it have to do with anything? I consider those two to be the best players in the world apart from the two commonly described as the extra-terrestrials. For that reason I compared Hazard's form, when at his best, to the levels they produce. That comparison is about what they do now, not about what they were doing whenever the heck it is you're talking about.

When are you going to stop making yourself sound so ignorant?

Interesticle article about Eden. Apparently, he's had a problem with his hip for almost two seasons. He's been playing with pain-killers.

Who remembers this?

I miss Lamps and Mata. :(

Another one of his best performances ever. Not sure which performance was better. The one yesterday and that Sunderland game are right up there. The 2-0 victory over Arsenal a couple seasons ago was absolutely brilliant. You know a player has played exceptional when the opposing fans all applaud a player. Hungary fans joined Belgium fans in giving Hazard a standing ovation yesterday and I remember after his second goal, Sunderland fans were in awe and just had to admire his performance. Love when I see that.

From the 2nd half of 2012 till the end of the 2014/15 season, it won't be an exaggeration to say Hazard was our best player in more than 60% of the games we played in all competitions. He's had some performances were he didn't even look human. Hazard will continue to be underrated until he leaves Chelsea (Drogba and Lampard also underrated) and English football in general and joins two of the OP giants in Spain. Welcome to football in 2016.

I'm starting to worry about this injury that Hazard has been nursing. It seems to be the same one from the 2014 1st leg game vs PSG.
