Chelsea have to make an attempt to keep him. We cant just stay quiet and let him go free just like that... At least the board should do their jobs and put some effort in

Would like to think they will but think at the end of the day, it comes down to what Hazard wants more.

He is not the Courtois type and surely won't hand in a transfer request. Things will be more clear by next summer - a big contract offer plus us winning the league hopefuly I think will have him sign a new contract. Eden is a clever guy, he knows Madrid is like Hollywood and here he is the absolute undisputed king. We now play the football he likes and he really enjoys it. This summer was the big fear to be honest, we were coming of a bad season and he was flirting with Madrid, you could feel we were in big trouble of losing him. But the summer passed and he is still here. IMHO there is a lot more chances now of him staying and sign a new contract than leave for Madrid come next summer.

Sometimes these things you end up overthinking and over analysing into anything positive or negative to spin however you want it to look.

But is it possible this is Hazard prompting Chelsea to come back to the table and negotiate with him again? He did in that interview suggest that not much has been discussed recently and he'd be happy to start talking again.

And there is no doubt that he is far happier under Sarri. Chelsea have to look to force the issue here. No tough penny pinching negotiations from Marina, we have to make this happen.

The only convincing we can really do is results on the pitch as well as opening up the cheque book in January to buy some quality attackers to complement him. He already knows everyone at Chelsea worships him so that alone wont be enough.

Hazard should be fortunate that he is Hazard. Doubt any other player would get away scot-free as much as he has for constantly talking about wanting to leave for another club.

Regarding Hazard's comments yesterday, it shouldn't be ignored that Neymar or Mbappe could still be a factor in all of this. The former, especially, is said to be Real's No.1 target and if he continues to be in the shadow of Mbappe, he might well be itching for the move come next summer and I don't think Real have the money to buy both players. OR if Mbappe suddenly feels he's getting too big for PSG/Ligue 1, he might well fancy a move to Real and given his young age, it would be a beneficial long term move for Real as compared to Neymar/Hazard.

Would rather say we are fortunate that Hazard is Hazard, and that both Chelsea and Hazard have been admirable in keeping things civil, with lot of respect towards each other.

I say Hazard, because we have seen top players at other clubs (looking at Sanchez at Arsenal) kick up a fuss and ruin games while pondering their next move. Hazard on the other hand has been professional and never tries to sabotage the team's chances of winning anything.

As much as I enjoy Sarri's style of play, I don't think players should really be relying on who is the current manager - however they may like or dislike named manager.

Especially at Chelsea... ;)

I really doubt that the club hasn't tried to approach Eden's agent already (to sign a new deal). The player simply doesn't want to stay at the club, otherwise he have pushed hard for very high wages (or his agent would) and signed already. He's now "suffering" under his current deal, while lesser players make far more money than he does. Drinkwarer is just one raise away... :)

Being professional is one thing but as a fan, I don't think it sits well at all to see your star player constantly talk about moving elsewhere. Have seen fans almost granted Hazard a free pass with his constant flirtation with Real. If this was any other player, he would have been criticized till no end, wouldn't he? Courtois, who was and is still a twat, got hammered for saying pretty much the same things as Hazard, no?

We have made some good signings, we play attacking football but we are being carried by Hazard. We are on the right direction but unless we sign one or two top quality attacking players I think he will leave. I am also not sure that it is about money.

He wanted to play with better players and we did sign quality players but when he has the ball and looks at the penalty box he sees the same old players as last year.

I haven't read through all of these posts, I am sure what i'm about to write has been echoed somewhere, so for that i apologize.

I am not mad at Hazard for speaking honestly about his situation, id rather transparency than lies. I genuinely believe he is truly conflicted, Madrid are his childhood dream, but he has become a man, built a family and succeeded with us. He might be thinking he has accomplished everything he could with us and CL glory is more attainable at Madrid but the grass is not always greener. He has stuck through some volatile times here and now things are looking better, but false dawns have come before. I think he will win premier league player of the season, get us back into CL and maybe even a trophy this year. Madrid want Neymar/Mbappe, i believe that but come the summer time if Hazard wants to leave I think he has done it in a respectful manner and we should honour his wishes and sell him. I do not think he will find as much creative freedom at Madrid as he would here, the fanbase will not cherish him the way we do here but that is his decision to follow. I 99% thought he was gone this summer, i am probably at 55% gone - 45% stay right now with the stay gaining momentum.

To sum it up: He has served us well for a long time, if he wants to follow his dream I won't hold that against him. If he wants to stay, he will go down as a Chelsea legend and perhaps the most talented player to ever put on the jersey when his time is up.

great post, i really hope Eden stays, but i will not hold a grudge against him if he leaves next season as he has served us very well since we signed him in 2012. He has matured in to the player we all see before our eyes and it has been an honour and a previlege watching him wear the Chelsea blue and dazzle us so many times with his brilliance, personality and professionalism, i think not since Zola and Robben have we seen a player of this technical caliber shine for us and it will be a very sad day if he ends up leaving, because he could very well become our best player ever if he stays, but no player is bigger than a club and Chelsea have lost brilliant players along the years and managed to cope, i guess thats just life, we all expected this scenario one day, but im sure that if Eden leaves he will make sure we get the best deal possible from him and build on from there. Cheers ;)

Surely the best thing for all parties would be a new contract with a buy-out clause?

Say around £150 million exempting teams in England? That way, Chelsea get the extension they want, and Hazard knows that (provided Madrid pay up) Chelsea can’t and won’t stand in his way (i.e. they can’t simply reject all bids). And he’d get a nice pay rise too, of course.

Hazard being our best player by some margin in most regards, grants him a free pass. He's doing his bit on the pitch despite having mixed feelings about his future, so there isn't much you can complain about. Courtois on the other hand was finding excuses every INT break to say something and had a history off "forcing" a move.

If Hazard moves on, he'll do it in a fashion that will be beneficial for all parties.

Of course he does. :)

Even if is a relative (who are typically the worst agents to deal with) they are still agents: talk to prospect clubs, praise their player for no reason, and especially negotiate deal on behalf of the player.

Not the most reliable of sources but this says Real want Neymar and Kane.

I think he's saying Madrid want Neymar and Eriksen.

[Paco Gonzalez via COPE]: Real Madrid are not planning to buy Hazard in the winter. Rodrygo Goes will join Castilla in January. Real are looking into Eriksen as Modric's replacement and are also discussing about Neymar.

Hopefully they stay away from Hazard. They need goals and that Ronaldo level marketing from Neymar don't they
