That's exactly it. The general idea of the Super League isn't bad. It breaks the clubs away from the power of UEFA and Sky, to make more money for the clubs and introduce a bigger fund that filters down the football pyramid compared to what UEFA provides as they retain such a huge slice of the revenues.

The current concept though without a system which allows clubs to qualify by merit and also clubs to lose their status if their not good enough makes it unusable. If these clubs are that 'elite' then they would back themselves to be good enough to remain in the competition year after year.

Yep!

The simple and obvious way foward, which has been put forward by numerous people, would be to have the super league and make the Europa league SL division 2, with promotion and relegation between the two. That would also surely have to include promotion from the leagues into division 2.

De momento nadie se ha ido de la Superliga, nadie ha pagado la penalización para hacerlo. ¿De cuánto es la penalización? No lo voy a decir"

Perez is saying no one has left the super league as no one has paid the penalty fee. He didn't said how much it was.....

What kind of BS is this? No merit then just like ESL. Uefa.....disgusting and inept as always

Honestly why should West Ham be in the CL based on one fluke season? It is still merit based if you award teams who are consistently playing at higher level. Teams like West Ham are too volatile, one season they may push for push for top 4 and next season they may struggle to stay at the PL level.

He shouldn’t be sacked, let’s be real everything goes through Roman and he has to sign off on it. Also it is unwise to give in to bully tactics.

I dont care, in what world does udt deserve CL if they end up 6th place? Thats not merit, thats favourism. If they can adjust ESL the right way so we can bypass cunts like uefa and sky etc then so be it.

How is it favoritism if United have performed better than West Ham over a period time? That is another way of rewarding based on merit, and that is favoring consistency over outlier.

Im confused now, your saying if WH end at 4th and udt at 6th, and if udt have performed better through that said season then they are deserving of getting CL though they ended at 6th? If so then its favourism.

I am saying for example if over a period of 5 years Man United performed better than West Ham then they should be in the CL, and if vice versa was true than West Ham should be in the CL.

I think it makes sense to grant CL qualifications based on some historical data, it has merit and it rewards the clubs that are most consistent.

With all due respect such an idea is flawed, for one it is heaven for them cunt owners at udt etc......you either land in top 4 or win the CL or EL, otherwise no entrance should happen, thats merit mate. Just because you hav done well in CL does not mean you get a free ride. Uefa's proposal is horseshit.

European Super League: La Liga president Javier Tebas calls for greater financial controls on clubs like Man City and PSG

Tebas declares Super League "dead" amid insistence from Real Madrid and Barcelona that the project remains necessary; Tebas says that La Liga are not planning any punishment for El Clasico sides or Atletico Madrid

Manchester City were among six English clubs which signed up to the breakaway league on Sunday, while PSG rejected the opportunity to be involved, before it quickly fell through under global pressure from fans and politicians.

Tebas appeared to suggest that many of the teams who signed up for the breakaway league may have been motivated by their struggles to match the financial clout of City, who are owned by United Arab Emirates deputy prime minister, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and PSG, who are owned by Qatar Sports Investments.

"State-owned clubs like Man City and PSG - these clubs need to face some controls," Tebas said during a virtual news conference on Thursday. "They haven't done anything outrageous so far, but we will see."
