As a European Championship winning manager he will command respect. The world has seen how Chelsea won it in a spectacular fashion. Almost the entire squad want him to be the manager next season rather than start from scratch AGAIN under a new manager.

He has won the dressing room like Mourinho, Hiddink did. And He did more than just stand out of the way of seniors. He made the tactice, made the team selections to counter the opposition team. He gave the team talks. He won it for us.

The entire squad, tell me how much influence they will have next seasonafter 6 leave and older ones get reduced role? It's Gona be a new squad pretty much and we ALL know that. I indeed said he lit fire up to them but seriously Matteo played to their strengths, which was opposite of avb and we all knew that! The high line, being clearest of examples! Now I know I may have come over and insinuating that he did NOTHING, which is wrong, he did some. But please, these senior players turned it on after avb left anybody could spot that. They didn't like avb handlings of lamps and tactics and quit on him. Then new manager, yeah listen to him but they took bulk of pressure/responsibility of gettin season on track. Matteo great run but not what we need in my opinion.

So let me get this straight... All Di Matteo did was asses the situation, and handle it appropriately. Isn't that what a manager is supposed to do?

Yep, but isn't that job easier to do when the senior players play with passion as apposed to quitting on you, like they did avb. Soo let's cool down and find right manager for CFC cuz IMO it's not Robbie, how long do we expect these senior players to carry us??

Apparently he put together a motivational DVD to inspire the players, comprising their family members and ex-Chelsea players. A nice touch. Can't imagine mercenary managers doing that.

warren barton summed it up best on foxsoccer "all di mateo did was stand out of the senior players way and shoulder the responsibilty on them" wixh imo was right. he also stated how di matteo dured up back by selecting kalou over studge and liting fire underneath them. while also pointing to my point which is he was close to these senior players, wat happens with new signings?

i tell ya, i dont want matteo as head manager, leave on high and unstained career as chelsea player/manager and nope lets not call him "legend" he iss iconic figure in club's history

Signings are not the way to judge Chelsea managers. Virtually all of ours are done by Director of Football Michael Emanalo.

His methods to motivate the team have been exceptional and unconventional. Sorry if this was posted earlier, but read this, not even Mourinho, probably the best motivator in the world, would have tried this:

How about giving RDM a board position with a good salary so that he will stay to help the new manager whoever he is handle the dressing room and in case things go badly and the new manager is shown the door he will once again become an interim manager to rescue us?

Why would he accept that? If he is not given the job here, there are a hand full of top clubs who would be lining up to hire him after what he has accomplished in only three months.

Give him the job, Emenalo is a good Director of Football and can certainly back him up with quality signings. His media control, player motivation and tactical knowledge are already good enough to get him the job. He has great credentials now as well. In short, he is at least competent in the principal abilities of being a manager. If we let him slip we could rue the decision for decades.

We must appoint RDM now but there is one thing I'm concerned about. I'm unsure whether he would replace some of the old guard/Mourinho signings that are leaving this summer, with players that can be equally as good as they where/are. We will see though.

Also seen AVB congratulate Di Matteo and the team, big sign of respect towards how he feels about the club despite being sacked, also shows a bit of class as well. Hopefully Andre will continue his career at a decent club and fulfill his potential and become a top top coach.

He's gana have no trouble walking into another job if we let him go.But he deserves a chance here to show what he can do given time! Changed so much in a short amount of time..won 2 trophies..the Champions League for christ sake! And our league postion may have not been the best but minds were looking way ahead to the Final...and most of the time we were relying on teams to drop points anyway from the postion we were in once he took over
