The Roberto Di Matteo Thread

We need someone to play both to the strength of the squad as well as welcoming another brand of football that will benefit the result, which Roberto has shown winning us important games as well as helping to motivate a team that looked like a shade of the Liverfool team. I for one would love to see him get the job, he gives the team credibility and respect by the fact he is a Chelsea legend, and adds honour to what looks like an endless list of names that have tried and failed at what he has succeded in doing - taking Chelsea to the final of the CL, if we win or not is to be seen, but he has come a step closer then any other manager except Grant, with a squad that looked like a shadow of their former-self.

Bring in the stability, with someone who has heart for the club and will fight for what is best for the team.

I'm really curious IF Roman decides against appointing RDM as permanent manager, who would he go for then?? Mourinho looks like he is staying at Madrid. Guardiola is taking a sabbatical. There's hardly any real suitable candidate after them IMO. Many fans won't be happy with Capello or Benitez if either of them gets the job. Laurent Blanc has been linked but I'm not convinced by him.

Laurent Blanc could maybe tempt good French players to Chelsea through links with the national team and he has basically revived the French national squad since taking over so.... he might not be that bad an appointment. Problem is he hasn't managed at club level yet so it is a major risk. EDIT: My bad he has managed at club level, he managed Bordeaux for 3 seasons.

P.S Capello and Benitez can fuck off they aren't welcome...

People should forget about Mourinho, not only he is staying at Madrid for another season, and no chance Roman would want to go back to his football brand.

I would be surprised and maybe shocked if it was Capello, Benitez, or Blanc. They are also very defensive and too negative.

If RDM gets passed over it will be for Guardiola, Bielsa or another very attack minded manager.

Okay,so even if RDM does get the job permanently(temporary in Chelsea terms) I am sure he'll get sacked after a year. The reason being Pep Guardiola,Roman will do everything in his power to make sure he comes to Chelsea and he won't care how well we're doing under RDM.

The man wants us to play beautiful football and who better to have then the philosopher himself.Frankly it doesn't matter who is here next season because there is a high probability of the man getting sacked anyways.Maybe Chelsea will stick with RDM or they may start a new pension scheme for Fabio, who realistically may be in the managerial business for another 1 year.

The managerial scene at this club is just embarrassing and I doubt there will ever be manager longevity at this club.I guess managers will only come here for the severance package now.

Edit:Sorry for the double post.

The west Brom fans were unhappy to see him go though and the main reason why he got sacked was because he wasn't backed by his board. He wanted a striker and defender in January but they didn't get him them. At the start of the season they were getting results while playing attractive football and i remember them beating Arsenal or United. He's young and still learning and the early evidence suggests that he'll be a great manager. Also you say almost doing nothing, so was it the players that organised the tactics for our games against Napoli, Benfica, Barcelona, Tottenham etc?

Kalou :fainthv9:

Yes, another valid point is that he has gotten many players to play significantly better than they did for months. His team selection and change of the formation have the hallmarks of a virtuoso.

I reckon Capello will take over, it just seems obvious to me for some reason. I would be happy too. I want Robbie to stay of course but Fab is my preferred option if he does leave.

Playing regularly doesn't mean he's gonna stay. He's just better than Malouda & Sturridge at the moment.

I just want to see the back of Malouda and Sturridge. Both a waste of space.

Personally, I can't see how their open attacking football is ever gonna work in the Premier League. Unless we have the perfect type of players like Barcelona, they are never gonna succeed here even if they buy players who is suited to playing that way.
