there is no reason why would he be benched for david luiz. i really dont understand. if we let christensen go, we finish this season and we are in a search for another cb again because of luiz's age...

If we do this, we absolutely need to get serious and buy a truly WC CB.

Matthijs de Ligt (the best on this list, IMHO will be the best CB or certainly top 3 or 4 on planet within 4 or 5 years or less)

He has all the potential, but I'm not loving this attitude.  Luiz is 31, missed all of last season with an injury problem.  Some/most people say he's a liability (personally, I love him).  And Christensen is going to move clubs instead of trying to win the job? 

He has to look in the mirror, it's not Chelsea's fault.  He can't honestly look at how he's played this year and think that he deserves that starting spot.  Instead of working and showing Sarri what he can do, I suppose it's easier to go play week in week out at some mid table club where the stakes are low.

In light of recent events in hindsight the massive hype (he made it!) and comparisons to JT (lol) he got for that half a year period when he was starting, are becoming more and more cringy. Seems to have a weak mentality, the only thing he seems to have in common with him is that they're both center-backs.

Nothing wrong with Christensen wanting to play week in week out but him crying over the lack of time in the media isn't going to win a place in the starting XI. Like Sarri said in his presser, Christensen has played 3 of the last 6 games - admittedly, they were cup games but still important games nonetheless - and it's his job to do well and say to Sarri "hey boss, this is why you should be playing me in every game!". But his performances in those 3 games weren't entirely convincing. So maybe he should start bucking up his ideas before going to moan about something you can (sorta) control.

He was given extra time last season under Conte when he was really underperforming and it didn't really help him. Still he looks uneasy in a back 4 under Sarri. He still needs to learn. He's got a good long term career chance here but demanding to play isn't the right way to do it when you've not put up any really good performances in the calendar year to prove otherwise. Luiz still worries me in a back 4 yes and I'd expect Christensen to get in there more regularly if he puts his head down and gets to work like Barkley did for instance. Rubén needs the same thing too, head down bit of hard work.

Exactly.  these guys need to look at Barkley.  He got less than a sniff under Conte.  Not a peep.  New manager comes in and he went for it on day one, trying to show him that he should be considered a valuable member of the squad.  He's made himself valuable, Sarri can't afford to exclude him.

He deserved all the hype last year, his inclusion tightened up our defense big time, infact it was probably the most solid defensively we were for years at one point. We weren't to know he was going to so spectacularly lose the plot after his first mistake.

Big fan of him and thought he was great when he broke out last year. Has all the makings of a top defender but with the lack of game time, I will accept it if he leaves (With a buy-back ofcourse)

French giants Monaco have emerged as the favourites to sign Chelsea central defender Andreas Christensen in the new year.

The Denmark international was a regular starter under Antonio Conte last season but has been largely overlooked by Maurizio Sarri since the Italian’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has made just three appearances for the Blues this term and has been kept out of the side by the improving partnership of David Luiz and Antonio Rüdiger.

Christensen has already revealed that he is looking to play regular football at this point in his career, although a return to Borussia Mönchengladbach – where he spent two years on loan from 2015 – has been ruled out.

And now, according to Foot Mercato, struggling Monaco are keen on landing the defender.

They sacked boss Leonardo Jardim recently after a woeful start to the season and have now turned to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry to revive their fortunes.

A loan deal looks the most likely, although the report goes to add that there will probably be an option to buy included.

It's happening isn't it? We're gonna lose Christensen to keep Luiz. One is past his prime and the other has yet to reach it with tons of potential. When will the club start looking to the future instead of living only in the moment? I'm not opposed to Luiz playing at the moment and I'm also not a fan of AC's attitude and form, but I understand him and it's true that a player of his caliber cannot forever be pushed around. The club need to start doing something about it to avoid the next De Bruynes and Salahs (who were shunned for Oscar and Willian ffs, like AC is about to be for DL).

Sidibe has regressed the last season and a half, unfortunately.

I would be much more open to a 2 for 1 swap:

 Benjamin Henrichs and Pietro Pellegri. Toss in £10-15m to grease the deal.

I think we need to use our buyback option on Åke. He is a truly rock solid EPL CB, and we will never spend the cash on the CB we SHOULD buy, de Ligt.

Why sign a right back and a 18 year old striker, regardless how good he could be, who would in all likelihood never play? While getting rid of one of the best young CBs in Europe to resign a average one? This is not FIFA. It's not as easy as that.

Ake, for me is still an average CB, he'd fill the homegrown quota and be an option but he's hardly an improvement on anything we have, he's not an improvement on Christensen so getting rid of him for a RB when we've got 2 already (as well as Ola Aina and Reece James out on loan), a 18 year old striker who'd never play (he's even been linked back with a loan move to Italy).. would be idiotic at best. 

Christensen should have a bit of patience and faith, he will be a regular soon enough.
