Popular Post! Tomo 21,751 Posted August 4, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 4, 2014 Im somewhere in the middle of Term and TOPTB, honestly I can understand both arguments, I don't think he is a traitor, but I can't pretend this hasn't left a very very bad taste.I would be quite annoyed if I was a City fan to, because ultimately when he retires he will be back here as a coach or ambassador, and City will be a 6 month spell in his twilight years, he will be celebrating victory for us against City for years to come from the stands or dugout. Blue Traveler 256
This can't be good.Is this a way to get back at the club for letting him go?! Is this really worth it, losing the respect and your immortality status by fans? No!The only loser is here is Frank! It will certainly damage his LEGEND status at the club and certainly doesn't go along with the Chelsea faithful! As simple as that! All this years of hard work and sacrifices will go down the drain just like that! This 6 month playing time definitely not worth damaging your life long reputation.Super Frankie Lampard No More! The Chels 2,502
I just saw the interview on SSN with Carvalho (sp?) and he seems alms of speechless really stunned and I felt disappointed about Franks choice. Here's another interview with him: http://talksport.com/football/exclusive-former-chelsea-ace-lampard-must-be-respected-man-city-move-140803105478Such a classy guy and was a great defender. He's also still respectful towards 'Mr Mourinho' even though Jose forced him out of Madrid. iseah100

Popular Post! The Mak 4,459 Posted August 4, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted August 4, 2014 I'm just surprised people are going so mental over it.Did I want it to happen.... No.But shit happens and It's not that big of a deal Imo.Edit: I get people have different reactions which is fair enough. Seeing him in a city shirt isn't something I'm looking forward to. But some reactions are a bit over the top Imo.Yes, some people are overreacting a bit (though it's a very small minority), but that's how they feel. It's a touchy subject to be fair. I just don't think anyone can tell someone else how to feel is all. It's a classic heart VS head scenario and I'm afraid your head isn't going to convince their heart to see otherwise, especially at this moment. I don't really see anyone saying he isn't still a Chelsea legend anyway, though those who back Lamps seem to think they said exactly that. The short of it is, people have different tolerance levels. Some higher, some lower. For some a living legend simply putting on another PL team colours is enough; regardless of the reasons, it's still a line that has been crossed in their eyes. He'll probably be doing exclusive interviews with them, he'll get a shirt number etc. It's all a bit too much for some, which is completely fair. Also, for every argument for his decision there is a very simple counter-argument: It's only for fitness VS just go to Melbourne then, he won't be starting VS it's even more pointless for him to be there in that case. At the end of the day, he chose City.I think it's very fair for people to say they're disappointed with Frank. Personally, that's how I feel. The way I see it his quote from last year now looks like this: "I can't imagine playing for anyone else after being at Chelsea for 12 years etc. etc. I'm not sure I could have done that...but if they pay me enough, I'll be City's mascot and do the Poznan!".Our legend is simply being used to fill a HG quota, that's it. He's being treated like their little bitch and he doesn't care as long as the price is right. I don't know about you, but I thought a lot more of Frank the person and player than that. manpe, Peace., Term-X and 9 others

different level 1,056
When you become a cult icon and symbol of the club.. that transcends what you've done during a playing career. Football is about tribalism, Lampard isn't just a former employee like Salomon Kalou.. he's Chelsea personified. That 'responsibility' you are questioning is dealing with the fact you're an ambassador of the club. It's the relationship you have with the fans, saying what he said in 2013 demonstrates a lack of class and respect. Signing for the family of our direct rivals in the first place, goes to show this guy has no affinity with Chelsea.Bringing up the 9/11 stunt and the AVB sabotage was about context in relation to this, not selective memory. Two sides of a coin, really. Applying the same logic you could make a point that the club treated him without much respect when his contract was not renewed. I mean if he's a cult icon then the club surely needs to give him a contract that covers the rest of his career, right? That's not how things work though. And what is the cult status all about really? IMO if a player reaches that with a team he needs to work really hard to erase all the great memories he left in all of us for more than a decade. In my eyes putting the shirt of an EPL team, who is not our traditional rival by the way, for six months isn't such a crime against humanity. FFS, when Frank was banging goals and winning silverware in his prime they were in a fight against mediocrity, they have risen up when he was entering the twilight of his career. What he said in 2013 was when he just signed his new one-year contract and I really think he meant it. Probably at the time he said it he never thought he could play for any other team period, not just in EPL. But more than an year has passed since then and you could imagine how many things have changed and we're not really sure how the contract talks went. The only thing that remains is that year old quote that the super sensitive fans are using as a beatstick, which is quite sad.

And well it negates everything you just said. The fact that it's quoted on BBC is not a merit of reliability. Regardless I stand by what I said. Don't cling on every word that has come out of Frank (in this case not even by him) like an obsessive stalker or annoying wife. When people say something that doesn't mean it's unconditional. Things change and so do our plans.

The only place to be 11,313
Also, for every argument for his decision there is a very simple counter-argument: It's only for fitness VS just go to Melbourne then, he won't be starting VS it's even more pointless for him to be there in that case. At the end of the day, he chose City. You mean simplistic, not simple.Melbourne is a stupidly long commute for a man with a young family in this country and he clearly as aspirations to play internationally still so why wouldn't he push himself at the highest level - the PL and Champions League?
