Ah I see you are thinking like Rafa ,I prefer to think like Jose, Watch this space . Lampard will play all the big games and miss the league Cup .

You know the major thing that controls games .................................................................goals .

I'm not thinking like either rather myself. Lamps has been found wanting against almost any team with a half-decent midfield and his only contribution is goals and they will be easier to come by in open games and against sides that may concede the midfield to us. Against sides with a good midfield, Lamps won't even get a sniff at goal if we can't first secure our midfield, otherwise he'll cost us more goals that he'd score.

Now, if we're playing 4-3-3 then I'd start him against anyone.

Lampard scores goals from any range against any kind of opposition. In a 4-3-3 Lamps is still able to control the midfield and I am sure we will use this formation at some stage cos the extra man in midfield is invaluable.

Maybe Lukaku. Nearly anyone on the team has a chance since most are still very young

How many years is lukaku's contract to chelsea as of the moment once again? I guess it's really difficult, considering that bidding for players had gotten high. See this over 40m bids or sometimes 80m? Prices are really tempting nowadays. <_<

I was wondering if someone else could still beat his record in Chelsea.

Lukaku seems like the only reasonable option given his age and if we make him one of our 'hands off' players. He's a Chelsea fan aswell so all the better

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1520921/chelsea-boss-jose-mourinho-believes-frank-lampard-won-ballon-dor?cc=4716&ghg

Jose Mourinho has said that if Chelsea had won the Champions League before 2012 then Frank Lampard would have won the Ballon d’Or.

Lampard finished as runner-up to Barcelona’s Ronaldinho in 2005, the year which Chelsea were controversially eliminated from the Champions League by Liverpool at the semi-final stage.

Chelsea went on to reach another two semi-finals losing to Liverpool and Barcelona in 2007 and 2009, and also lost on penalties to Manchester United in the 2008 final.

In a serialisation of Mike Carson's book, The Manager, in the Telegraph, Mourinho reveals his belief that Lampard should have been crowned as Europe’s best player.

"That season [2004-05] was a season for them to say, ‘We are the best in this country’, and it was the season for me to say: ‘I’m not just very good in Portugal, I’m also very good here.’ So it was like an explosion of motivation on both sides," Mourinho said.

"I remember saying clearly to Frank Lampard: 'You are one of the best players in the world, but nobody knows.'

"In one of the seasons Frank was a finalist in what is now the Ballon d’Or, and I think he didn’t win because he was not a European champion.

"Between 2004 and 2007 he became, for sure, one of the best players in the world. So we motivate people also with individual challenges, and for him, for sure, that was a challenge we put there and he understood and he was ready for it.

"If Frank’s 2012 Champions League win had come before, he would have been voted the best."

Jose knows class when he sees it ,just so pleased to have him back and his appreciation of Lampard is testimony too his judgement as a manager ,best player in the world?,yes Lampard was that good at that time.

It nearly killed me when the waiter in his first press conference announced that " the club would not be giving Lampard a new deal" and "he was free to find another club". As opposed to Mourinho's quote " I look at the player not the birth certificate and the player is the same".

This may well be the last season we'll have the honour and privilege to watch Frank Lampard play for Chelsea Football Club.

Apparently, Van Ginkel said in an interview to some Dutch papers that he was told by Chelsea this is Frank's final year with the club and that they want him (VG) to succeed Frank.
