He was handy to have around, but I never felt like he was Chelsea at all. There are certain players who just feel blue, and he wasn't one of them.

However; for him personally this is an amazing move.

The derby his new club participate in must be the best in the world.

His aggressive style on the pitch will have the fans falling in love with him!

is it official? Whilst I consider the romoured fee of 8m € as far too low, considering he cost 13,5m € and is still of decent age, it would simply be a trademark blunder by our board to reduce our midfield to 5 men for at least half a season. To add Oscar is an unparalleled weakling, i doubt he would be a reliable no6 or 8.

@Leif: I feel so, too. But why did we shed out Essien in the first place, when we knew Meireles would go?

on the fence on this one, he COULD have been good sub and hopefully produce more games like the newcastle one, or we can switch to r433 and finally play the way this team is built and mierles wont be missed asmuch if at all.

in the end i think we dont sell, just because of numbers, rdm will want that extra body in midfield.

it aint confirmed yet right?

Fenerbahçe's official web site anounced that the negotiations has started with Meireles, and believe me, if that man does not come after this announcement, fans would burn the club down.

In case of an injury of Mikel or Lampard, Chelsea can count on Ramires. Also, Romeu is young but talented, he needs some chance and he can wait as a substitute.

Meireles, on the other hand; is not a player who should wait as replacement. He should play every match as a maestro.

I don't think this transfer will affect Chelsea too much, but Fenerbahce signed a key player, which it needs for a long time.

These are my opinions of course, what can you say about Meireles?

I think the sale of Meireles is a true act of planning for the future. We are acting early to free up space for technical players. The likes of Oscar, McEacrhan and KDB. I can't help but feel we are laying the foundations for Guardiola. We could have a Technical midfield like

-------------Romeu----------

---Oscar----------Josh/KDB-

Getting rid of Essien and Meireles seems like a step in the right direction. However the club may have gotten too excited and let him go too early. We should have kept one of Meireles/Essien.

Meireles is not much more than decent. Barely good enough for a top side in the EPL but it appears he is more than good enough for your club.

The more I think about it, the more I believe this is a good move. Hopefully ramires will drop back and provide some decent passes. Marin will be back from injury and surely he'd play on the right.

Mikel and ramires/romeu/lampard seems suffice. And if injuries come in I'm sure Oscar would be able to play that sitting roll, just not the defensive part....

Di Matteo hasn't even once tried playing Ramires in the double pivot role and Romeu has played two insignificant games so he clearly doesn't trust either of them to do the job there. With Essien also gone, that leaves us with only Lampard and Mikel as serious candidates to start games and that is ridiculously light for a club still competing on five fronts, at least when considering that many of us have serious doubts over Lampard's ability to still be a key player for the team, let alone play +60 games a season. I honestly don't know what is going through the minds of the people in charge at Chelsea if we let Meireles and Essien both leave without buying anyone.

huge fan of the kdb, and i think he will be immense in midfield in years to come. pair that up with oscar seems deadly.....but for the board to have that mindset, we would buy a moutinho of some sort in jan as a lamps replacement. then the promotion of kdb and mceachran should be essien mierles replacements. i hope it pans out that way, but i just see us buying 2 amazing cms and then putting kdb and mceachran on loan again. truly hope not.

How is this even possible? The window is closed. Besides if we were going to sell Meiriles we should have at least kept Josh.

I'm not a fan of the thug but if this is true we are really lacking numbers in the middle.

The window is still open in Turkey and it doesn't matter if it has already closed in England.
