Juan Mata

You serious? Ever since the rumours started to spread of him being on his way out certain people here were starting to plan for a future without Mata and would have happily handed him over to our main title rivals now that we've got Willian.

It has nothing to do with Willian, a 'winger' who will clearly be playing out wide for Chelsea football club. And everything to do with Oscar, Mourinho's first choice CAM.

People are really putting their heads in the sand over Oscar's position, thinking he will get the 'Mikel treatment' and be eventually restricted to a pivot role. Or even more hilarious as Mata's mere back-up (Brazil's number 10!!..on the bench, lmao). Despite zero evidence to support such a notion.

After Mourinho's comments about Ozil is anyone suprised he didn't try and bring him in and let Mata go? I probably would have accepted Mata leaving if it meant Ozil coming in, probably the only player who I'd want to replace him as Iniesta's getting old and is obviously unavailable

I wouldn't have fussed if we got Ozil over Willan or Schurrle even Van Ginkel but as a fan I'm not throwing Mata off the team like that especially since he basically carried the team most of last season and even the season before that. Mata deserves a little bit more respect than that. It's yet to be proven how effective Mourinho came assist Mata in becoming. Now if Mata wanted to leave that's another story.

Maybe Mourinho was just giving him a time off just like RDM did and we thought he wasnt favoured
Actually this makes sense I totally forgot RDM had done that with him.. this is a very good thought..hopefuully it is true

Any more infos on why he isn't in the Spain squad? It's usual not to see him starting for them, but didn't he always have a spot on the bench? Not that I'm mad, I think those two weeks are very good for him. José maybe has spoken with Del Bosque to let him stay at Cobham so Juan can build up his full fitness!?

Him being left out by Del Bosque is nothing new. Has happened before anyway. Nothing to read too much about it. And besides, Mata hasn't been playing and probably still lacking that sharp match fitness to play for Spain right now.

Why Mourinho should try to bring in Ozil and let Mata go because of that? He just basically recognized Ozil as a quality player and a threat, like we all do. It doesn't mean he values him more than Mata. And also, it's just a waste of time and pointless business replacing a player with another that has very very similar qualities.

Ozil's the only one we could feasibly bring in who is arguably better than Mata for the no.10 role. He seemed to like (he played him) Ozil at Real; if the rumours are to be true he doesn't want Mata. I'd keep Mata after what he's achieved here, but bringing in Ozil would allow Mourinho to let him go as he supposedly wants to without getting too much shit for it

Ozil was the only real No.10 at Madrid. Of course, Mourinho would play him and he fits in anyway. As for not supposedly not wanting Mata, all of those came from persistent and annoying BS rumours by the media. Yes, admittedly they do create that element of doubt but Mourinho has said as much about Mata's qualities and how he fits into his plans, wanting him to stay. And let's just see how he is used and fares under Mourinho after the international break before we all go outrightly claim he doesn't like Mata.

I agree. Especially with Mata not in game shape. The worry for me though is that because of Willian's arrival, someone is not going to get into games. You don't rotate 6 attacking midfielders and 3 strikers for 4 spots. Real Madrid last season under Mourinho played generally the same 4-2-3-1 system and played around 60 games. For those 4 most attacking positions, only Ronaldo, Ozil, Di Maria, Benzema, Higuain played at least 30 games. Callejon and Kaka played secondary roles but saw fairly regular playing time. That's 5 regulars and 2 semi-regulars for 4 positions. Chelsea have 9 players for those 4 positions. Some players just aren't going to get playing time. There's no way around it.

Actually it was only last season when Mourinho said in his opinion Ozil is the best #10 in the world. Mesut's stats sort of back up that.

No one has had more assists and real chances of goal created than him in the last five years and he's younger than Mata. So if there was any upgrade from Mata in the world, that would be Ozil. But I feel like Mata gives himself more, he's more committed and when he disappears in matches isn't because he didn't try enough. Ozil sometimes seems lazy and uninterested. I wonder what he would be capable of doing if he carried on his initial thirsty when he first arrived at RM.

Let's hope he doesn't like Arsenal much :P he could kill the league, although even then I don't think that makes Arsenal real contenders to the title. They had other issues to address (actually their AM was fine if you ask me, but any club in the world would improve with Ozil signing to them).

I think for those 3 attacking midfield positions...we'll see Hazard - Mata - Willian as the starters.

De Bruyne & Schurrle to play secondary roles...and Oscar to play a bit deeper?

Also, it's more like 8 players for 4 positions cause Ba isn't gonna play unless Torres/Eto'o pick up an injury.

Clarify like what? Jose has said many times he isn't leaving, even though there is always that element of doubt whether he will be leaving, but stories continue to persist.

If anything, it might have been helpful had Mata come out and reassure us about his future here.

I thought some clarification necessary to make some of our fans clear and calm enough. The PSG rumour really annoying for some of us and you can't deny about it.

But come to think about it now, I don't think it is needed anymore. I just hope Mata could give his best performance in the next match.

The boss (Mourinho) believes in me, he wants me to become a complete football player. It’s more important to him that I want to become a complete player, I need to show him the desire. He compares me to Xavi of Barcelona, who he rates very highly in the world of football. He says I have all the qualities

saw it both on twitter and fb although no source in either

He posted this picture in his instagram :

He really loves London.

I remember one of our new signings of last season (anyone remembers who?) saying that Juan knows every corner of London so to say. If you tell him you want to eat a pizza or something, he knows exactly where you can eat the best pizza in London and all this stuff. It seems that he's really settled by now.
