Rubber bullets 1,183
If he is with us for the third year in is contract does the buy back clause expire? Or if he finishes his four years and then gets a new contract or has a contract extention does the buy back clause expire?
kongdaniel 34
Does Oriol and the gk with the difficult name count as the two signings Gourlay was talking about? If so, then Oriol would feature in the first team squad then......?

Kostas 1,468
The Barcelona site descibes him as a rough-tackling midfielder whose main attributes are stamina and power, must admit that's not what I expected when we signed a Barcelona midfielder. Still our squad is terribly short of midfielders and as long as he plays more frequently than eg Sturridge at that age he will definitely benefit us.Welcome to Chelsea Oriol Romeu. kongdaniel 34
Yes, Romeu seems to be one of the two signings as is CourtoisAnd as Sturridge, Romeu is really recruited to be part of the first team because he is ready. Sturridge had experience of nearly starter in Premierleague and played in Europe with Shity ; Romeu comes from the best reserves system in the world, he is able to play in the Prem and he won't play in the reserves. He really is the backup of Mikel, not a young prospect the club has no precise ambition with.Carlo did not trust in youngsters, Villas Boas seems to do that so it would be normal to see Romeu, Josh, Sturridge playing some games next season and a lot more than under CarloThat makes sense, thanks mate! Blue Armour 4,442
No mention of buyback clause. That's what I thought as well; in that case, we can forget about that for another.....for 2-3 years?
Kieran. 6,317
Don't really care. If he's good, Barca's gonna bring him back. If not, we're stuck with him.Great business. Though he'll help the midfielder depth.

xPetrCechx 13,571
If After 2 years barca wants to buy him but he doesn't want to go there and will no accept there contract offer.what will happen?
bababoom 4,478
He stays with us, the contract reads that Barcelona can make an offer that Chelsea MUST accept, but as any other transfert Barcelona has to agree terms with Romeu who is not forced to acceptSo Chelsea have to accept... It's good that we are buying youth players, but what if he does really well for us, and Barca want him back.. we will have to spend more money for another defensive midfielder. termninja 5,290
Look at Fabregas, he has everything to be the playmaker in a team where the system is made for him, where he is captain for long... And he seems to prefer going to Bacelona to joke with his friends Pique and Xavi, warming the bench and win a lot of medal he would not play a big part in. Even more than Thiago Alcantara is likely to become a fabulous player, Busquets is young so is Mascherano...It's a matter of mentality, Oriol comes from Espanyol before and he may not be as narrow minded and victim of the ballyhoo from the greatest club in the world, with his fantastic socios and his fantastic history, his fantastic masia and also his fantastic debts and cheating bitchesBecause of his profile and his qualities, Prem seems to be suited for his way of playing so... And as I said somewhere else, if Romeu wants to go back home and then in the same time we have the opportunity to put Clifford in his place, we have no matter to worryYou can't compare Arsenal and us though, titles and huge wages are flying around the Bridge while Arsenal is slowly turning into a joke and not into a serious club. Guest justin_3d
Reports in Barcelona have suggested Oriol has cost the Blues €5m (£4.35million) up front, although that could eventually rise to €10m. According to Barcelona's website the deal includes a buy-back clause, which would allow them to bring the player back to Catalonia in 2012 for €10m, or in 2013 for €15m.............BS of a contract that Chelsea has agreed to this.We must be desperate that Chelsea wants to do such business.I like the player, but i am disappointed that Chelsea accepted such deal. warnie_666 1,081
Nothing wrong with the deal. Oreo cookie is certainly not going to start alot of games this season so I don't think Barca would pay 10m for him. The season after next he will start playing a bit more but still wouldnt be more than a squad player and I don't think Barca would pay 15m for him. If they pay 15m I say that's a bloody good business by Chelsea by buying a 5m squad player and selling him for 15m in two seasons. If Barca don't buy him he continues to play with us and may even start more games in third season
