pyut898 14
Benayoun showed such an awesome display yesterday against Hello Kitchee. Definite deserve a chance to feature in Chelsea's starting XI
gary gordon 1,777
I wouldn't be surprised.. Malaysia banned the wearing of anything with a crucifix on it in public. They also banned the Manure jersey because it has the devil on it. Any country who bans things like that has deep political and moral issues imho.. Fulham Broadway 17,360
Cant separate sport and politics unfortunately.Malaysia is predominantly Muslim. Most Muslims hate israel for the persecution, land theft, and slaughter of the Palestinians ....hence Benayouns booing.
BlueLion. 21,491
Banning United shirts is something I can agree with, but racism is simply the product of narrow-minded conservatives afraid of where liberalism will take them.

Liquidator 5,176
Good. He does not deserve that kind of abuse because the politics had nothing to do with him, he is just trying to play football. Hopefully we won't go back to Malaysia for a while to teach their fans a lesson
EskWeston 696
Only right the complaint was made. Just a shame they waited so long to do it. Despite what they say in their statement the only reason for the delay was so that it didn't impact their marketing....
SeB 1,281
Stupid question maybe, but is Benayoun the only jewish player of the team ? He was the only one absent during Yom Kippour wasn't he ?The statement reads:The club did not make repesentations at the time as it was initially unclear as to the nature of the abuse Yossi received, as several players from both teams experienced similar treatment, sometimes louder and longer. However, having taken time to consider the issue fully, it has become apparent that a formal complaint was necessary.

He should be glad they even granted him visadoesn´t make it any better.i am surprised that the club waited so long in defending their player. but i am glad that they did it at last.@FulhamBroadway: I think you are seeing things a little black/white here. I don´t want to get into the whole history of the middle east conflict here (not enough space and time) but why should malaysians worry about israel and the palestines. they have nothing to do with that whole story. and i think it is also dangerous of talking about "israel sticking claws". it is not that easy.are you sort of defending the fans of booing Yossi ? it is a racist act by them, simple as that. can´t be justified. It is not racism, they are anti Zionist. Big difference. it would get the same reaction in Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi, any Muslim country. Anyway as you say lets not go down the history of the Middle East road . The club if they had an ounce of sense knew that playing an Israeli would get that response -but they chose to go for cash instead

There is sense of brotherhood among Muslims and that is why when Afghanistan was invaded by Soviets Muslims from all over the world joined their "brothers" in defeding their nation against the "infidels". Muslims from across the globe view fellow Muslims in Palestine as their brothers and jews as infidels.
Kieran. 6,317
His booing was not "racist." It was anti-semetic. There's a difference.Disgusting that people get treated differently for something THEY CANNOT CONTROL. Absolutely disgusting.
