KamikazeBlue 337
“I am surprised that people criticised us for being naïve and stupid because what we did was we defended the essence of British football,” said a visibly irritated Villas-Boas.“I find it strange that people related to football don't know more or less where to position themselves regarding what is best for football and what is best for fans, because fans are the most important part of our game.”The Chelsea boss added: “It was an entertaining game for the world. It was a pity we didn't come away with the three points, but I think we were superior during the 90 minutes. I think we surprised everybody.“Our collective performance was very very good. It's just a question of the result, which didn't go our way. We came out of Old Trafford with a very good display and I'm happy with that.“It was a negative result for Chelsea but I have to say we were the best team. Not the most efficient team, I would have to agree, but we were the team that had the initiative in the game.”THIS GUY KNOWS TO HANDLE THE PRESS... ROMAN SHUD KEEP HIM FOR 4 YEARS ATLEAST.. We were superior for 90mins and they won cus of two offside goals and a lucky goal. At no pint in the game did they open us up untill later when we went on an attack leaving spaces behind. Tortilla9 390
I'm not looking for a manager to stand up there every press conference and have a diatribe or whine, leave that to Fergie or Kenny. I do like a manager who stands up for his club, his team, and his players with class and dignity. Thanks AVB.
termninja 5,290
If someone asked me to describe my perfect manager I'm pretty sure I'd end up with AVB! He is something special, and people like that are simply extremely rare. It may be too early to talk about his work here, but so far he has done everything right and to think that he's only 33...bravo!
CHOULO19 24,332
He is more or less the face of Chelsea. And I'm very happy that he is giving an intelligent image of our beloved club.
Guest justin_3d
Now only to wait what will be said when a ref decision goes in favor of Chelsea and that determines the outcome of the game.
Tortilla9 390
He is more or less the face of Chelsea. And I'm very happy that he is giving an intelligent image of our beloved club.Exactly. It's too easy for the media to relate stories to the public that portray Chelsea as ruled by a secretive Russian gazillionaire (yes, that's a word) who fires managers on a whim while secretly praying to his own personal gold version of the CL trophy. Then there are the players who get their own media love on a regular basis - Terry, Cole, Lampard, and of course the media's personal favorite, Torres. AVB at least makes them stop and think for half a second before continuing on with their usual media spin. Not saying everybody has to love Chelsea, at least treat Chelsea with some impartiality which seems to be missing at times.

Guest justin_3d
Kinda preferred Ancelotti's approach with the referees but history has shown us that being passive about such things may be more honorable but you'll be at disadvantage against those who put pressure on refs.I think it's more about developing and maintaining an approach to football rather than being attacking for the sake of it. Now if we had to beat Barcelona I doubt AVB would play right into their hands. Why is that?
