Did he actually say those words ?

Not a good moment to say such things though I agree with you all that this had to be done. Roman stands behind his manager, that's something new.

Hopefully Bosingwa doesn't trust his project. Nah, who am I kidding.. He adores AVB. :Goober:

Roman put his faith in Grant a couple of years back and the players never bought into the idea. Stories of Grant sitting in the corner of the dressing room at Craven Cottage mumbling while Lampard, Terry and Ballack dug the players out.

I don't think this is all that different. Some of his team selections, and substitutions have been baffling, to put it mildly. Malouda isn't interested anymore yet he is back in the team. The treatment of Cahill is nothing sort of strange. I don't think AVB is the man for the job, I never did, and its clear that Hiddink doesnt want the day to day running of the club. What more does the like's of Moyes have to do?? and O'Neill would have been an outstanding choice.

I'm glad to see that the majority of fans are really turning on the players rather than AVB. These players really have been a disgrace and I can't believe that the same guys who won us league titles a few years ago have now started acting this way.

I have a feeling that if he was to be sacked, Roman would have done so already. At least he's showing more patience than before.

I agree! Surely, if Roman had doubts about whether sticking with AVB was the right idea, he would have sacked him already. And as we can now see, the situation with the players has been escalating and I'm sure a few 'Model Professionals' have been to see Roman to give 'feedback' on our new manager. If Roman was on the players side, he would have listened and taken action.

Also, the things AVB has been saying since his very first interview, has given the impression that he has the full backing of Roman. He has always responded confidently whenever asked about whether he can last at the club, etc etc which I don't think he would do unless Roman had told him that he would be given time.

These comments in the latest press conference are strange - for a manager to come out and admit that there is player power, that not everyone backs him, and didn't he also admit that the story about some of them texting Mourinho was true? (didn't get to watch the press conference but saw a quote about that on twitter). While it may not be the best strategy to admit that to the media who must have started rubbing their hands with glee the moment he said those words, what he also did was send out the warning to his players that he has the support of Roman and crying to him will be no use.

Disgraceful, disgraceful attitude from the players. I just want to fast-forward to August when hopefully most of the trouble-makers will be gone, AVB will still be here and there'll be some fresh new blood that's hungry for success and respects the manager 100%.

I love all these guys and its hard to imagine my club without them. ( I guess these players are Lampard, Drogba, Malouda ...)

But c´mon the club is bigger than every player and in this case we have to shw the world that wre not a exception!

Otherwise I hope guys like DD and Frank will come back one day to work here because they are real Chelsea legends and we need them.

Roman`s backing is impressive imo I never thought that we will see something like that, but I like it!

In AVB I trust

yep, but the source is the "sun", so I'll take it with a pinch of salt. :halo:

Actually I believe the original interview is with the daily telegraph. Anyway, its much more reliable when it has actual quotes rather than "anonymous information from insiders".

lol, "anonymous information from insiders" probably means "the journalist wrote tons of bullshit"

If AVB properly disciplines them (not in Mancini style, by letting a player return home on full wages for five months) and sticks the trouble-makers in the transfer market AND the reserve team, I'll fully support him. Time for the egos to fuck off.

If he is saying he has the support of Roman, it must be true. I don't think you can tell bullshit about Roman without being punished. So Roman support must be genuine.

This support is genuine until we grind out minimal expectations. If we were to lose every single game from now on, the support would fade away in next 2-3 games imo.

I was kinda hoping he would stay free in order to save our season if Roman changes his mind

Good news though, I couldn't stand to watch him at Spuds...

I really hope so mate. t would be a refreshing change to have the club's long time interests prioritized.
