I was thinking we need more English first team players, or homegrown - players like McCarthy, Rodwell and Johnson would add so much for the image of the future as well as the talent they have now. Mata on the left, Torres in the middle and Johnson on the right would be one hell of an attack! Especially as the future England attack could be two half of Chelsea if he came with Sturridge in the middle.

If we sign Modric without Yossi leaving that would be such a plus! More options for the wings incase we have a 'bad' moment, as well as being at hand when Ramires would have to partner with Oriol to be the DMC when Mikel will be with the ACoN.

The team CAN play with him, it is just that the right choices, players and/or system in never implemented when he is on the pitch. When AVB decided to drop Ramires into a more holding-role and allowed Lampard more space, Torres was off the pitch or the style was just in the brink stages. But, like i said, if Ramires came off also or Lampard was off at half-time for someone creative l;ike Yossi or Josh, maybe we could have seen a Nando goal, or more. I find it somewhat agonising to see that Josh is going to be forced on the bench because of the likes of Lampard, even against teams like Swansea, Norwich, etc. where he has shown, he is capable of performing with the team. The only way he can succeed now is to have experience with the playing in the first eleven and going off by the performances he makes. I hope he does start against Norwich, along with Torres and Mata, if he does sign otherwise Kakuta. Someone except Kalou, even if we had to have a lopsided attack - Anelka is way better then Kalou!

I am not going to delude myself into thinking that a total evolution will come in the first few weeks, but it was nice to see that AVB was able to do something to change the game despite having no differences in the team that lacked so much last season. This is such a good indiction that maybe we finally have a tactically sound manager after Carlo, but the team selection does worry me oh so much. Kalou starting like that? And the fact he risked the team's midfeild like that with Lampard and Ramires dropping. Too bad Alex got injured though, we could have seen Josh play in that role Rambo played, where he went on the offense as well as being defensive.

Torres was brilliant and shouldn't have come off, for Drogba who did nothing. Lampard improved more when Ramires dropped back - much like his previous self. Hilario was more strong then i thought he would be, and should be number two and Turnbull should be sold. Anleka was his usual self, the good, the bad and th ugly being on display. Was pleased to see that we had the two attacking fullbacks on full form again, Bosingwa was solid throughout the game for me, and he made the second goal. It was a poor performance, but it reminded of the old days when even though we played horrible and 'ugly' football, we still got the points and the goals that was needed. I think AVB changed the game tactically more then the actual subsitutions and was actually able to garner something from the midfeild. Still think someone like Jsh or Yossi should have come on for the creativity that we lacked. Malouda, i can't really say that much - but i still believe we need two wingers and a midfeilder. And Kalou should be sold or released. Would love to have another squad member incase Yossi is leaving due to a part-exchange plus cash for Modric.
