It's not a masterclass performance or nothing else. He was awful and it's not even arguable. Some performances are subjective. Many are. This performance had almost nothing. Your level of "OK" for an attacking player is absurd. He forced a save!!! OH MY GOD. HE"S AMAZING! !!! In 120 minutes, he forced one save and had a good cross and a couple of nice passes against the worst team in the Premier League. He also made no tackles, passed the ball to the other team in front of our net, had a lot of loose passes, had 3 fouls and was invisible for about 118 of those 120 minutes. That is pretty much the definition of an awful performance. (This also goes to the absurd difference in expectations people have for different positions on here. Central midfielders have to protect and cover for the back four, move the ball quickly, set up the attack, distribute and press. Attacking midfielders have to make a couple of nice passes or shots.) Yes, Willian and Schurrle etc...don't have the best stats but they have played very well in a number of games and have all been better than De Bruyne. They press well, they look involved, and so on. Both, also do a lot of good defensive work. De Bruyne is an atrocious defensive player is successful on about 25% of tackles attempts and has generally looked lost. He is never going to do what he did for Bremen or he does for Belgium because that free role doesn't exist at Chelsea and if it did, it would still go to Mata or Oscar or Hazard and not De Bruyne. Having offensive success for Bremen where he had no defensive responsibilities and in a system built for attacking midfielders (with Hunt as well) was never going to happen at Chelsea. People couldn't understand that De Bruyne was never going to come in and be a starter right away. He was going to have to earn his playing time and he hasn't. You have some fantasy of De Bruyne coming in and doing what he did for Bremen and you refuse to let it go. You really think Mourinho should be playing De Bruyne more to get him going? Who cares if he's been awful, right? Who cares if other players are more deserving. I mean, the purpose of Chelsea is not to win, it's to get De Bruyne in a good rhythm? Let's suffer through a few bad games just to get him going, right? Let's sit down five players who have all been better than him, cost ourselves a shot at the Premier League crown so we can get De Bruyne playing with confidence.
Anyways, I'm so sick of the "poor KDB" stuff. Yes, it's hard to play well once a month, but it's not that hard not to be terrible every time you play. The situation is what it is at Chelsea. It's crowded so you have to earn playing time. It's not complicated. If he played well, he'd get more time. He isn't getting playing time not because of some conspiracy it;'s because he's been awful and he doesn't fit the system. Mata, Azpilicueta, Willian, and Schurle all had to sit for long stretches. It's hurt their play, but they've still contributed and have good games. De Bruyne hasn't.

Hazard grabs all the headlines and attention from Chelsea fans (when Torres isn't getting it of course) but Oscar has more natural talent and like you said, his work-rate is phenomenal. You just know he's going to give 100 per cent every game and in training every day. Just like Lampard, and look how much of a club legend he turned out to be.

I do not know what happened this summer, although ever since the pre-season he decidedly has not been the same. He has adopted a very casual attitude on the pitch - he even has a thug-ish attitude at time - just too much lax (add to that dives). He does regularly make mistakes that should not be made : misplaced passes, being caught out of position, letting players getting past by him easily, etc...
Someone has to give him a slap in the face - he is nothing short of a liability, at the moment.

Apart from trying to get more aerial presence in the team, what is the point of playing Ivanovic at RB?! He constantly backs off players. Allows them to run at him as well as letting crosses to come in so easily! What's the point?! Invites pressure to the team and has cost us several number of goals. It's hard to feel sorry for the kid when one soft kick to the ribs has paid for a significant part of his life. He won't have to worry about things like car payments, university loans, rent and all that other nonsene. Funny how he gets criticised sometimes but when he is gone for a shot or long period we realise how important he actually is to this Chelsea team. His qualities are unnoticed when he plays by some but when he is not we lack a presence for someone in that DM role that he provides. We are much more vulnerable without him and I can't wait to have him back in the starting 11. One of the most important, unsung heroes here.

Oscar is not by any means ready or capable of taking Mata's starting position, but just because we have two good players at the same position it does not mean we must fuck with one of them just so they both get playing time. Barcelona dont do it with Fabregas/Xavi/Iniesta an ManCity dont do it with Aguero/Tevez/Dzeko.
Oscar is a #10, but he can very much adapt to the pivot role. However, people cant even wait half a season, imagine 12-18 months so he can work on his body and new position. I doubt he would last 6 more months with the way things are going.
I prefer Oscar playing 15-20 games a year where he should than 25-30 in stupid position and ocasions. It will be much more productive.

If he was English, we'd be proclaiming him as the next.....I don't know. I can't think of an English player like him. Maybe David Bentley? That's not to say he's as shit as David Bentley, but we don't really produce players like him. Suffice to say if he was English, he'd be overhyped.
He's a very classy player who glides across the pitch and that means he sometimes glides in and out of games too. He needs to work on asserting himself more in games and really grabbing hold of them. When he gets the ball you don't expect him to lose it and sometimes he'll do amazing things, but not often enough perhaps based on the expectation surrounding him.
But he is still very young and he's in a similar position to Josh in many respects. He's got a lot of talent but he's got to find a way to utilise it more effectively during matches. I can think of worse men to spend 6 months under (ooh err) than Pelligrini.
Could just be a way of pushing us to the front of the line come Summer. I'd be loathe to lose him whoever we brought in.
Ultimately even if he doesn't get game time, he gets a chance to train in a new environment under a new set of coaches at an age where he's still learning what being a footballer is all about. He wasn't about to get much time on the pitch here and I'll be honest, I trust our club to place youngsters on worthwhile loans most of the time.

Oscar and Mata play in the same position, they will not work together (as of right now). If you all want to see Oscar playing good football, he must be a direct sub to Juan. He will only play 15-20 games in 2013, but they will be excellent games.
He can play on the pivot, but this will take more time (are you willing to wait more than we already are?). He needs to improve his body and adapt to his totally new life and football style in order to play CM in England.

I think he meant your comparison with Mata is invalid because, despite Mata's best position being AM, his set of skills allow him to do well on the wings. That's not the case for Oscar.
I'm a bit disappointed with Oscar aswell. But he's playing out of position, his season started in the beginning of 2012 (because brazilian league's schedule is different), he has played a lot of games, including Olympics and friendlies with NT and he is in his first season in EPL.
So I think I'm not being biased here when I say his drops of performance are somewhat understandable.
