I don't think you can really call those mistakes when he is making decisions based on merit and his experienced knowledge as manager on another day they may have worked, just like bringing on the same Mata he brought on against Basel and started against everton but worked out vs spurs. Football is not MATHEMATICS 1+1 isn't always = 2. Mistake for me is underage pregnancy, in football you get lucky or not but based on your talent and experience you might be more lucky as a manager.

A bad performance from oscar, hazard, mikel and our midfield in general in the first half was totally the result of playing ramires on wing for me. I was really shocked to see ram on the wing look how the game changed when mata came on. Although i think mou played ram there because he can score goals all our new wingers are really not good finishers take schurrle and willian for example they get the chances but fail to take it.

He is back to form, should start the next game.

That's negligible but ridiculously some chelsea fans don't seem to think he is the best business of our summer transfer. He will definitely show us the way forward.

I am not sure but i think mata lacks motivation having played so well over the last two seasons and still not cementing his place in spain NT, I think one of the reasons he played so well was to try and cement a spot in spain squad which did not happen and that looks even more difficult with the performance of young players like isco in a club like madrid in spain, This could have affected his motivation as a player as he looks like the patriotic type of player. We know what he is capable of whether as AM or winger/forward but he really hasn't shown enough this season "I'd have to disagree if anyone says otherwise" and on merit he doesn't deserve to start so far. Schurrle is doing ok, hazard is not yet his best but still brings a lot of energy/work rate and defensive awareness to our team, oscar is the best yet but mata brings NOTHING so far and that's disappointing to me as a fan especially as mata is one of the more experienced players who should have stepped up by now. Further more When mikel plays badly we slaughter him, same with luiz, torres, cole and ramires. Mata is as experienced as most of them so he should also get the stick. His small statue and lovable character doesn't make him a kid and shouldn't demand sympathy either just as the rest of the squad. He is not playing well and he alone is to blame for it so he should get a lot of stick and criticism too just like any other player. It is really quite simple, he plays well he starts he doesn't play well he gets benched.

I agree, and bought him under the radar too. As good as mata is, oscar for me is clearly the better footballer in what is a team sport. Mata can never match the kind of performance oscar gave against juventus even if he score a double hatrick in one game. Hazard who i also rate more than mata will only be at that level if he performs at this level as he did at lille(already did vs bayern). Oscar is putting more consistent high level performance this season. He is really competitive. So you see oscar's performance vs Juve and hazard's vs bayern were incredible we've seen nothing of such from mata at the highest level. All oscar and hazard need to be better than mata is mere consistency, oscar seems to have found that so far and hazard will surely find he's under Mou and mata might still be excellent but not up to their level.

One of swindon's best effort in the first half came when Kasim skinned mata and took a dangerous shot. I think he shouldn't play so deep.

I do not agree. As much as we all like mata i don't think he did too well against teams that defended deep(swansea,Qpr,newcastle, southampton e.t.c. all at stamford bridge) it was rather the opposite. Most of his goals and assists came on the counter attack(manu, arsenal,spurs,norwich, e.t.c) and that's what most people fail to see even with mata we found it very difficult breaking smaller teams especially at stamford bridge where most teams come to defend. On the counter or when he had space to play into behind the defence, he was superb.
