yeah...Three league goals making him one of the top midfielders so far this season but no attention that's typical when chelsea is involved but Neither did willian's nor the manner of the victory all these despite it being our first away win in the league.Don't mind the media they know already the league is ours this season so they don't bother and they can't taunt us for spending big as they normally do because teams like arsenal, spurs, city have spent a fortune on some players.
-
Why? Because it contradicts your idea of stats. First of all mata is not a CAM like you've been posting but an AM whose duty is solely to give goals and assists which is what he does and what he has to contribute when playing N0.10 but players like Oscar/zidane/iniesta are CAM's and quite different from players like mata when playing No.10 because they are real midfielders with ability to score and assist but in addition possess other play making qualities aside from scoring and assisting therefore they usually spend more time deeper in midfield than an AM who plays in the final third and therefore they have less statistics naturally in the final third than AM's but that doesn't make them any less effective to the team than an AM. So the debate about Mata vs Oscar in no.10 is really about having an AM vs CAM as no. 10 and currently with the imbalance in our pivot oscar as CAM 10 is a better fit and offers more to the team as a whole. Mata as AM 10 will leave our pivot exposed when we are not in possession. Its not mata's fault but a deficiency that oscar masks by being a CAM with especially more defensive cabability than usual but also very effective in attack.

Mata had a better stat last season(chances created) than zidane or iniesta probably ever had in one single season, does that make him a better CAM than Zidane or iniesta?
-
I agree. But even more so the chances have to be those that suit the strikers style(style of finishing) and that means playing to the strikers strength which isn't happening at chelsea because we don't have one we can trust and the one we hope to trust(lukaku) is still too young to engage pressure at the highest level e.g champions league knock-out stage.
-
You are on point but this is what people don't understand with the lukaku loan, he is too young for a club like chelsea to depend on and trust constantly for goals at the highest level so he will not at the moment get as much goals as people expect in chelsea because we are not yet ready to play for lukaku despite most teams defending against us. We need strikers who can play for the team (which lukaku isn't ready to do or built for) until lukaku is ready for us to change our set up to suit him as a striker we will be able to trust hopefully. Falcao, messi, ronaldo, ibra, lewandowski are all trusted and prolific because their teams started playing to their strength. When CR7 was in manu and messi in his earlier days their teams did not play for them it was rather the opposite hence less goals for them. Although with slight digress i agree with you. For now our strikers are not prolific so we need high scoring midfielders but when we have an experienced, trusted and prolific striker we can play for the striker to score hence less goals from midfield, hopefully that striker will be lukaku. So the need for the lukaku loan is more as a result of him needing more experience and playing time than for us having a young prolific centre forward on the bench who we are not yet ready to fully trust and play to his strength and who doesn't exactly fit into our current system hence will be less prolific and could have less confidence in himself.

Oscar is going to be one of the best midfielders of his time/generation just like lampard has been and like mourinho said "he will go very far", not just goals( although he has been the first to score in all the matches he scored this season which for me is a leadership quality) but orchestration, guile and attitude he brings with him, that's the minimum ceiling for him really because he can do pretty much everything really compared to lampard with similar attitude and having the advantage of learning from the great Lampard. Considering he is only 22 and performing better than much more established older players in the toughest league one can only imagine he will be so good and more consistent when he becomes older progressively towards his peak.

If only he had a debut for chelsea as good as KDB'sIf only he was in his prime?
-
If only his debut for chelsea was as good as willian's

Its AMAZING that none of our strikers have scored in the league and yet we are third in the league with i think the joint second highest goal difference. Signs of a strong team for me. Hopefully our strikers start scoring soon and put us in full throttle.

Best individual performance you've ever seen?

Oscar vs juventus for being only a kid, Joe cole vs manutd(3-0), A number of Zola, cech, drogba performances. -
I am pretty sure when ramires and lampard start oscar also plays in midfield to give balance to an ageing lampard otherwise(with mikel and ramires) mata could play as no.10 but i don't think mourinho will rest oscar as he is still in the process of building a team with oscar as a key player but i think schurrle and mata will start also based on form. Ba for eto'o is a possibility if mourinho felt eto'o played badly against steaua bucharest but i don't think he did. Ba will surely come in if eto'o isn't performing vs Norwich though as will willian for mata/oscar/schurrle if any are underperforming.

I think he can do well as a second striker if he proves to be of chelsea standard because he is over 6ft, strong(or will be), technically gifted, knows how to dribble and can score goals and give assists. What i am saying is that signing lewandowski will only hamper lukaku and players like piazon who might be involved in the seasons coming when lampard, etoo, torres, mata and possibly willian who are all 25 and above give way to our kids more or less in the least at about five years time. --------------Curtois/Blackman Wallace/azpi---kalas---omeruo---cuevas/Bertrand --------------Chalobah---Ake/KDB Schurrle-----------------------------Hazard --------------------Piazon as 2nd striker/Oscar as CAM ---------------Lukaku

I am sorry but i am the kind of guy that watches a match and observes directly the kind of influence a player has on the pitch without counting passes. Ozil has better stats than iniesta also but he isn't even near as good as iniesta as a footballer and they both play the same positions. Same goes for mata, he has the offensive stats and is the better offensive player but Oscar is the better footballer, a more complete footballer although it isn't as black and white as that of ozil and iniesta. But if you will use stats use the ones from this season as we already know those of last season.

I accept that mata is a better offensive player with his creativity manifested in offense only which is not a bad thing but i disagree with you that mata is a better player overall because oscar is the better footballer for me. Oscars understanding and football intelligence is awkwardly unreal and so far this season i've seen oscar popping up as the no.9, at RW, at LW, at no. 10, at defensive midfield, and at central defense giving our team different kinds of balance without any weakness and therefore providing inconspicuous but incredible creativity and balance to the whole team, but to some this isn't creativity. Mata is gifted at what he does also but his creativity is totally in the offensive areas and mostly has to go through him directly which is a very good thing for him but not necessarily always good for the team because he isn't Messi or CR7 that we can always depend on, whereas oscar's creativity affects the entire team from defense through midfield to the striking positions and with the very creative wingers we have now (especially hazard, schurrle, mata and willian) oscar will just be the Excalibur that brings the whole team in synchronisation including mata which we saw vs steaua bucharest. So it depends if you like an offensive player who's quality is purely offensive making him desperate for goals and assists(which is good but looks bad when that doesn't happen) that plays No. 10 and offers direct creativity by giving goals and assists and being the Key man in offense but can easily be marked out by good and physical defensive midfielders" neutralizing the team juan mata is the man and is very good value for his offensive qualities but on the other hand if you have this incredible player that is a playmaker at no. 10 but cannot be marked out by defensive midfielders(don't even bother trying) because he is so so mobile and offers both direct creativity(goals and assists) and indirect creativity by covering for other players with varying offensive attributes who also go forward to bring about even more unpredictable creativity without distorting the balance of the team (that is, bringing creativity by his capability to play different positions allowing others to be involved resulting in more unpredictable forms of creative play) and this player also scores goals and gives assists but isn't desperate to do so as he plays for the team bringing various other qualities with him, then oscar is the man.

This is one player i like and want chelsea to buy
-
He is an attacker capable of playing as a striker/second striker which he has done in some preseason games in chelsea e.g. Vs PSG where he scored.
-
He Might well be our MVP this year if he carries on like this considering he has a starting spot in our first team and he is untouchable.
-
Spot on.^^^All this he does with guile. A brazillian mata in some aspects but with more flair.
-
I was about to post something similar. The support for torres is unreal despite proving for 2 seasons and counting that we can't win a league title with him as our lead striker. Unlike torres Eto'o is so so proven so I'd take my chance supporting him now as lead striker I've done that with torres too but now he should be second choice though.
-
Mixed game for him. He had some bad moments(terrible passes and mis-kicks) but also some good(assisted a goal, good attitude) and some great ones too(showed wonderful link up with ivanovic and mata in the blink of an eye, also stopped some dangerous attacks). He played better in the second half.
-
If i wasn't religious i'd say "some people talk like shit". He had a great game for me. He very effectively contributed to three goals(ramires first goal, the own goal, and the intelligent pass to willian for his assist for lampards goal), in addition he had three good shots on target and worked had linking up play where he could. If he had scored it would have been excellent but i am convinced he is definitely what we needed, Experience and class, the goals will come.
-
For me he showed signs of sharpness. He is a pleasing player to watch but he takes his football very seriously(tracks back, tidy passes, useful tricks/dribbles). I've always said when he gets going he is going to be a big big threat to become a starter I can actually see him nailing down a starting position by january. Plus that pass to cesar was eye catching and would have been very useful had the whistle not blown.
-
I thought he played well(he looked like a certain oscar on occasions kept it simple and had good defensive positioning without the ball). Four goals scored but not even an assist and yet praised by his boss that shows he and chelsea are maturing as a team.

Whats incredible?
