Yes, I am in the same boat. After being one of those fans who thought that we needed to go out and splash ridiculous money on another striker (Falcao/Cavani) in order to compete I have changed my tune and want Lukaku to be given a go, with Ba and Torres (unless we are able to unload Torres) as back up. I don't think , save for Drogba in a few seasons, we have had one seriously prolific striker at Chelsea, and with the way our team is set up we have loads of goals coming from the midfield, so is spending 50m+ on another striker really the best option?? If we are not able to offload Torres, then we will have 120-130M in striking talent at the club + wages.. The only problem is that I know many fans, especially in the heat of the moment, will criticise and jump on Lukaku if he doesn't have a good start and we end up panicking by Jan..by which time we may not be able to secure an 'elite' striker'. Overall, though, I just think it is better for the long-term future of the team that we don't bring in another 50m+ striker and we stick with Lukaku. I also like TOPTB's point about having a more emotional/romantic connection with seeing Lukaku succeed here, rather than an expensive player that would have rather played in Madrid anyway. We should look to replace Mikel and maybe bring in another CB + Luke Shaw if he is available then I think we're good. There is also the bonus of seeing Lukaku grow and develop here, at Chelsea, into a lethal striker -- under Jose Mourinho, no less.

Would be an awesome signing + he's another Belgian.. surely some of the Chelsea boys can have a word with him and recommend London??

I think Oscar is much better centrally, too. Just wondering a 4-3-3 would suit him better with: Hazard---Lukaku---Mata Oscar---DM------KdB A bit of a dilemma because Mata is our best player..so don't really want to shove him out wide.

Why on earth would they pay 20m for him, they could probably bid 10m and we'd accept just to get him off the wage bill - this story sounds way too good to be true.

Can't see us having both him and Torres on the books, whilst also trying to give Lukaku experience.. we also have Ba. If we can offload Torres then I think Rooney and Lukaku with Ba as backup is a pretty good strike force, and rooney can also drop deeper to a no.10 if we suffer loads of injuries. Think a lot of people are against him because of the perception that he is fat, lazy, granny shagger etc.. + he is a tick scouser which doesn't really help, but he is a cracking CF, of that there is no doubt.

Does anyone know why Oscar seems to have been stripped of the no.10 in Brazil? I thought that shirt was special and was given to him as a sign of how important he is to the team or something.. but now it has gone to Neymar?? Every Brazil match I have watched recently Oscar has consistently outshone and outperformed Neymar, why have their shirt no.s switched - is it related to football reasons?

55-60K seems about right, 80K would be way too much unless we brought in safe-standing and drastically lowered ticket prices..
