Yeah Matic was important in getting overrun in every bloody big game in the entire season. Important in being clumsy and slow on and off the ball, misplacing the simplest of passes and being about the most one-footed person alive.

Tbf for the money offered, I would have sold Matic too. He was piss poor for most of the season. Our midfield was a Kante one man show. Even a half fit Bakayoko can only do better. I'd much rather have Drinkwater, who has a better understanding with Kante anyway than Matic in my squad. Still it is not a good sign that we sell players the manage rhas in his plans and it did not seem that Matic was keen on leaving it felt more like him being pushed out. Luckily this is not a KDB/Salah/Mata/Lukaku/Bertrand etc. case were we sold too soon. economically and probably also from a technical point of view a brilliant decision to sell matic. But strategically it might come to back to haunt us if this deteroriates the relationship with Conte and the board.

They all would be good signings. At this rate I do not care who we bring in, as soon as we do bring in someone.

I'd genuinely see him challenge for a spot in the starting XI if he returns to his Sevilla form which he still is in the best age to do. Would be an immense signing thus won't happen given the incompetence of our board.

See him score more than Morata, Bats and Loic combined and then get sold to a rival.

Our defending was alright. Geigen the lack of protection from Alonso and Fabregas we limited them to a handful of chances.also i one defender more does not mean our defending will improve. Defending is all about team movement and mechanisms.

Tbf the exact same thing was said about Torres. "He has not been training with the team enough", "he is not used to the new environment", "he is low on confidence becasue he has not played so much recently " and all this shit. It fits the notion spread in the media that Morata, similar to Torres, is kind of a nice guy, a sensible palyer who needs the backing and confidence of the maanger in short a sissy who can not cope when things are nog oing his way. The penalty miss also adds to this. I do not bealieve the case is as grave as with Torres. Morata is younger, bigger, in better physical condition bought as the manager's not the owner's darling, had at least half a pre-season with the team. Also better players have missed more important penalties. Finally, the msot important reason why I think MOrata will succeed other than Torres is this: For him to play it is not Drogba we need to renounce - but Michy Batshuayi.

But you have to look at the bigge rpicutre. We lost to one of our biggest rivals in a derby that kicks off the season in embarrassing fashion. we have lost in the shield 2010,2012,2015 and 2017. We lost the FA Cup final, the Super cup in 2012 and 2013 as well as the Worlc club in 2012. We hae been horrednous at these kind of mini trophies. Yeah they are unimportant but it would still be better to win them. A great way to kick off the season. It might only be a shield but it is handed by the FA and it is in wembley. It is a glorified freindly, but every trophy is just a piece of medal handed out after a number of glorified games. Also with very few exceptions a lost CS is a sign of a bad season to follow. The writing is on the wall and ahs been for months now.

But it still gets you a trophy so our aspiration should be to win it.

maybe you are right. But the tackle was reckless with open studs nowhere near the ball. There was no need to foul the player we were in full control of the match they did not get a sniff of our goal. If he does not make that tackle we win the match. And it was not that Pedro was any useful in the match. He was going to be subbed off anyway.
