I still believe that was the correct decision. Today, Matic would probably not have started anyway. Conte likes to play Cesc when teams park the bus and Burnley were expected to do so. Also Matic would not have prevented the referee being an absolute wanker and sending off two players needlessly. Neither would Matic have mad Luiz place himself better for the two crosses he let in. Matic was and is a bang average player who becomes useless against good sides and offers nothing offensively except the occasional fluke goal or assist, which Cesc does regularly. The release of Matic itself was no mistake. To do so before we brought in an actual replacement/ a third fit centre mid was the mistake and that has been acknowledged by everyone who wanted matic out.

It has not been confirmed when he is back to full fitness, but he injured himself in june, needs 3 months of rehab and will be back in team training. Then he will still need 2-3 weeks to full match fitness, so October was my best guess.

At my former job my task was to check incoming securities transactions. In some weeks there would not be a single query from the fund management. When my boss asked me what I was doing, I usually said something along the lines "I monitor the situation of incoming transaction queries" when I was literally twiddling my thumbs watching a tv show with my privacy filter on. I can so imagine Michael Emenalo doing the same^^

October i think.

I a good way. I remember PSG and ManCity where he bossed the midfield. and also in 2013 against Basel he was quality in midfield. he definitely has the skill and the speed to play in midfield.
-
The result itself is not the problem. Sure losing at home vs bloody Burnley never looks good but the worst thing about it is the timing. We have been written off and rightly so because of our horrendous transfer window. Conte looks frustrated the team is not gelling yet not sure about the harmony in the team and then we lose when we needed nothing more urgently than a win against a side we usually should brush aside. Now the pressure is already on and we are heading into a gruelling fixture list.
-
He would have got overrun vs Spurs anyway that is true but from the bench he could have been a useful addition. I am curious to see how Conte solves the situation. David Luiz's last two performances in midfield I remember were terrific.
-
I think he is just trying not to look too desperate.
-
You are right. Competition was the word I should have used. In some situations Alonso will still be useful.
-
and who is gonna play beside Kante then? Either Christensen will or luiz. In the latter case, Christensen will play CB
-
Definitely not. he is not as good on the ball and slower but any backup to Alonso would be fine.
-
Imagine? I actually thought that a dozen times today ^^ I just checked and Drinkie has only been sent off once in his entire career, so with him we might have equalized
-
It is not that he is much of a talent anymore either. He older than me. He was prolific for Marseille but he does not really seem to have made the step up the this level. He was decent against games vs the lesser sides towards the end of last season but I somehow get now why he has not been selected before we won the league. He might be useful against lower league sides in the cup competitions but that is about it. I am not sure if we are gonna bring in a back up striker as there are more pressing positions to fill right now but boy.
-
That is true. He is probably our best player when it comes to speed and pure technique. He is on the same level as Hazard on that regard. Yet Willian does not have the same speed of mind nor the instincts to reap the rewards of that.
-
go all out for him. need to make a statement. First i was of the opinion that we would not need him but tbf with how disjointed our defence looked today after cahill was off, we need one. and obviously once we have one defender and one of our 3 midfielders out, we have to tinker around and another injury or suspension and we are stripped to the bone in this position. also he is probably an upgrade on quality on any of our defenders.
-
that's it. good fight by brighton but they made too many mistakes and those get punishd in this league. City look far from invincible though. Their goalie is a fly catcher
-
Might have had a kept out the first which was a soft and scoffed shot, even though decently placed. I think he got a touch to it and when you get a touch to it you usually can save it.
-
City's bench 😮 Sterling , sane , b Silva, toure...
-
Bha defending ok but should attack city's weak d more
-
Let's hope he puts in a transfer request. Otherwise we will be held to ransom
-
A conte Kante midfield - a commentators nightmare 😂
-
Yeah bar a complete self-destruction by Tottenham, we are gonna lose with the tiny remnants of a squad we have left now. Probably Christensen in midfield. Is Moses back for the game tho?
-
What was he thinking, it is not that Burnely were creating any danger in the second half once we turned up. apart from that he got the ball so it was a decent tackle. Still he was not professional this game. the sarcastic applause was the needless one. With that in mind he shall not present the referee with the choice to send him of. At Arsenal or barca he would have got away with that but he is at Chelsea now, the most hated club by opposition fans and the fa.
-
If we loan him out again we continue to dig our own grave. He is not on too high wages and should be an ok wing back option once fit. Does not mean we should not bring on a quality WB now.
-
I noticed that after we conceded the first he approached his colleagues and spoke to them calmly, probably some motivating words. The next thing i see of him is winning an aerial duel on the left half position and heading the ball like 40 yards up the pitch. He is a guy who can take responsibility and lead. we might need a guy like him this season.
