Absolute class. What a character. Great to have him at the club, Lets hope he gets one more world class year out of that body.
-
๐ Puli and Kai strike me as the type of guys who drink half a pint and already are completely hammered lol
-
Also the only team to hold both trophies at the same time. EL also was the only one out of 7 trophies we won that years so we did ourselves a huge favour by going out the group stages there... Not a repeat pls still. The least we can use is more games and travel.

I am worried about that as well. Traore as a back up for RJ sounds at least remotely like an ok idea if he can be got at a decent price. Hofmann would be an absolute clusterfuck. Old, slow and bang average. No idea what he wants with that guy. As you said, TT likes his weird signings. At Dortmund I always thought it was a bit bc they did not have that much cash to spend back then and at PSG his signings improved slightly but he loves to sign players who are intelligent, mature characters, hard workers who completely buy in his philosophy but often do not have the necessary talent. Take Bartra and Weigl for example (the latter not a signing ofc) absolute bang average players but decent enough characters and surely intelligent, tactically apt players with 0 individual quality on a technical and physical level. Luckily, there are guys like Petr at the club who also have a say in transfers. Maybe we should just use Lampard's list and continue to cross off names there. Probably all English players but honestly, not many nations currently have the amount of talented youngsters as good old England right now.

Yes exactly. and who covers for them? Azpi and Thiago will have to sit out more games completely next season. Especially over a 60+ game season which awaits us. Zouma and AC will come in which leaves no CB on the bench. We would have to make this up with players from the youth team. Look at how Liverpool collapsed after they lost 2 of their main CBs. No one talked about big money signings. 30m is pocket change for us but it can land us a young, quality CB like Lacroix or Caleta-Car
-
Thiago is not getting any younger, we saw again that his body is failing him more and more. I dont think he can play more than 30 games next season. Azpi is in the twilight zone too. This leaves us with 3 physically pristine CBs, one of which TT does not fully trust. So we need at least one more.
-
Great performance. and what a pass. Absolutely beautifullly pointed and weighted. Xavi, Pirlo, Lampard, Fabregas none could have played that pass better. Not only a through ball but the mother of all defence splitters.
-
Well if Sheva likes him.... I guess he is one for the U23. IMO we definitely should prioritize a proven but not too old CB. Midfielder I would be fine with either Tchouameni or Rice. Obviously I would let go of Jorginho and sign a more technical DM but if TT trusts him and insists on keeping him, we can work with one of those guys. Striker I am really not that keen on any of the prospective signings. With Kane and Haaland unattainable we should not overspend on a 2nd rate option. Also Tammy should be kept as a squad player IMO if he is happy to play that role. We need a huge squad next season. Even bigger than for this one. The schedule will be an absolute abomination. This is why I see it critical if we really only want to sign 2-3 players (obviously TT isn ot gonna reveal our real plans). So if Tammy, Giroud, Emerson and Alonso leave which is all probable, we should sign at least 4 players even if not in their specific positions.

If he only plays a half-decent Euro he should get that Balon d'Or. He definitely should get Europe's player of the year as that is usually very CL-centric. Would be time for a defensive midfielder to win it.
-
It's a shame he did not score that 2-0. Would have been such a nice scoreline reflecting our superiority and the whole US would have gone even crazier. Captain America shirts are already among the best selling ones. We have climbed to 3rd place in international kit sales since we bought the little guy. I don't think he has improved too much under TT if at all but our focus was on defense this season, so much is clear. Puli has two qualities i value above most in a winger which are pace and intelligence. I dont doubt he has a big role to play for us next season.

7 tackles, 6 recoveries, 3 take ons, most touches what a performance. Absolute masterclass. But hey we could have had Lamptey lol
-
Performance of a true warrior. I also love how he explicitly speaks of our 2nd trophy and how it paves the way for our feature, "our" referring to the club not just the team he is currently playing in. He obviously identifies with the club so much that he also cares about its history before he came here and its future beyond.

Win UEFA SuperCup and Club World Cup. Only two titles I have not witnessed us winning live. Mount a respectable title challenge Get into the knockout stages of CL I don't have too high expections tbh. The season will be a struggle again. No summer break. Injured and tired players from euros, fly 13 hours to Japan in the middle of the season and return with huge jetlag. Lose Mendy to AFCON middle of the season. Mammoth program with a probably smaller squad. Fatigue will be a huge factor. Only good thing is our squad is younger than last time we faced such a mammoth program so maybe they recover better.
-
I always thought you need proven winners to win the biggest prize of all. Start small with EFL Cup, FA Cup, win a few league titles, built yourself up to win CL. These guys just went and won the biggest title as their first one. Incredible. What an inspiration.
-
And he finally gets what he deserves. What a class act. So fitting it is our great cub who gave him that trophy. If I were him i would retire, but Thiago Silva being Thiago Silva he won't, he will carry on as long as his legs carry him. Such passion. football personified.
-
Should win Europe's player of the year at the very least.
-
Imagine how we would have humiliated all those great teams we played this season if Timo only had had an average conversion rate. 3 or 4 today, 5 or 6 vs Real... makes you wonder how high this team can still go once we fix our finishing woes.
-
It was an all-round great performance. He also made 2 very good tackles deep inside our own half, kept the ball well and orchestrated our best counter-attacks. I really did not think he had it in him just yet. The best players are the ones who shine in the biggest moments

Champions League Final 2021 - Man City 0-1 Chelsea

What a night. The game felt like ages since the moment we scored, I probably aged 10 years but the hours since have flown by. Will take another few days to totally sink . Would have loved to go through the bars and clubs with my friends like in 2012 but there is another place to celebrate and that is here. Will take an hour or two to read through your content and relive the moments... Like the first one this CL win is gonna become a huge moment, personally for me. I wasn't born a Blue but I chose it early and committed for it with it for quite some time. My environmen thas not alwys reacted favourably to this choice.Esp earlier in high school i got quite a lot of stick for it. Chelsea is not exactly widely popular in Germany. But this only reiterated my affection. I was a bit of a rebel and outsider in school so I have always experienced our title wins as moments of personal triumph over group pressure and zeitgeist. This CL win is very different from the last. The first is always special but to me what made it special is that there was a close nit veteran group of grown men, real characters heroes for me who scored hundreds of goals in years of near misses to finally crown their careers at the last chance against all odds. Momentous relief and joy but also the end of an era. For the club and the old guard whose incredible individual performance is even enhanced by the fact that we had a very basic managers and individual quality and character played a huge part in that victory. But it also was the end of an era as I graduated from highschool that years and left those resentful classmates and my hometown with a personal triumph. This time it is the start of something new. A youthful side with their first title win for most and what a big one. It has taught me again that it does not always require big, grown men with bags of experience, the best players to win the biggest trophy. It is a team sport and the best team performance over 13 games wins this competition deservedly. In 2012 we deserved the win for the years of having the best group of players leading up to it. This year we deserve it because we were the best team and played like it for the whole campaign. A brilliant coach has formed us into a collective tactical machine. More than an individual effort but an organic improvement from within the team that finally got us to win the ultimate price together. To me this is the greatest, better than my country winning the World Cup. -
Stand up and be counted. and standing up is what he did. What a goal, what a performance. Now let's he does not become a Lars Ricken^^

Werner miss first of many tonight told you we will get all the chances in the world -
I would not mind at all. He had his moments but overall has just been poor for us. He does not really suit TT's style and lacks the necessary athelticism. His only good games here have been on the wing under Lamps. He looks completely lost in that number 10 role.

beautiful move for the 7th. probably the only side in the world that works against lol

maybe but TT has not used Willy at all so i odubt he will start doing so in a CL final -.- You are right. Mendy has just the worst approach to pens. kneeling down and reacting late. He bascially covers just the lower middle portion of the goal. Luckily Agรผero didn't know when he tried that panenka but I am sure now they all know and will rifle them into the corners. With kepa he at least has saved a couple of pens, i think he saved 2 in shootouts (Eintracht and Spurs) which we won and another one in the League cup final 2019 where we lost. Willy if he still got it and is sharp enough after not playing I am sure would give us a decent chance. Most ManCity players were already at the club when he was there so for sure he knows most of their moves.
