Last year: Hazard: 9 goals 16 assists = contributed to 25 goals. Bale : 21 goals 8 assists = contributed to 29 goals. Now going soley by the stats Bale did have a more productive season than Hazard.(not that much though ,4 goals) However when you take into account that -this was Hazard's first season while it was Bale's 6th season in the PL. -Hazard was overused due to inadequate squaddepth -Hazard had to share the ball with Mata and Oscar while dealing with Torres up front -Hazard is 2 years younger than Bale You start realizing that Hazard actually already is a better player then Bale. Also i've reread Stingray's post. Nowhere does it say that he thinks Hazard was better than Bale last year. He only said that he was glad that we got Hazard and that he thought Bale was getting to much credit and (wrongfully) being put on a higher platform. And he's right. I mean some people rate Bale as the third best player in the world but there's only a 4 goal contribution difference between him and Hazard. If Bale stays in the PL Hazard will overtake him, this year, in goals contributed, i'd put money on it. Hazard is the better player.

I felt like you, frustrated and it perfectly sums up Torres his time here. I felt sympathy with him in his first season here but after that first season frustration began to take it's place instead of sympathy. You mean when he dribbled past 3 AC Milan players and then fucked up again by trying to take on a 4th and 5th instead of just passing the ball ? I just went "typical Torres" Even when he does something good or brilliant he, most of the time, manages to fuck it up again.

I don't think Hazard is chubby or fat. He's just very muscular for his size. Hazard isn't a preseason player. With his relax attitude he's at his best when playing games under pressure. Good example of this was the 7 or 8 flicks,backheels in the frist 15 minutes with only 2 or 3 coming off. XD I think in games where there's no real pressure his creative side seems to get the better of him. In a PL game he would never try this many flicks and backheels. Couple of things i've noticed watching preseason. He's still not 100% sharp. good example of this was when he had the ball perfectly in front of his left foot to take the shot but tried to cut inside again after already fooling the defender. His tracking back has improved. multiple examples of this in the preseason games. Although one thing i've noticed is that when the oppositions right back overlaps his winger and our left back pushes up and sticks with the winger Hazard doesn't always stick with the right back. He sometimes gives him a couple of yards headstart which could be dangerous if exploited. Something to work on. He's been making a lot more runs in behind the defense then he did last season. example that diagonal run in the second half against Inter. How strong is this guy with his back towards the goal. Many times the Inter defender was just running into Hazard's back over and over again and Hazard was just keeping his balance and holding the defender off, shielding the ball. He did end up losing the ball most of the time when doing this but that was because he held onto the ball for too long and a second or third Inter player would then corner him and disposes him. (would credit this due too lack of sharpness) Still though he's a freaking beast when holding up the ball. Edit: Also loved the Hazard-Mata connection. It's awesome.

To be clear i completely disagree with the guy who started this Mata vs Hazard discussion but you shouldn't say that it's usually the Belgian posters that are starting this stuff.

what are you talking about ? When Oscar plays in a 4-3-3 he isn't going to play like a 10. He's going to play like a Centre midfielder in a 3 man midfield. When you change your shape you change the individual player instructions so it fits the system you play. Also "The difference between the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 is marginal". Really, maybe on paper but on the field it's a big difference.
