Ray Wilkins hits out at attitude of young players
Stats replied to Stats's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Sadly, that will probably end up happening. -
Well I disagree. Even with Bale at Real I still think Ronaldo is the main man. Bale said this himself. Bale will score goals but I am unsure if he will get up to 20-25 but gradually I think he will as seasons go on. More importantly Ronaldo has not committed his long term future to the club and if he goes Bale will probably step up more. I think most people acknowledge Bale is not on Ronaldo's level yet so if Ronaldo outshines him there is no harm in that.

Ray Wilkins hits out at attitude of young players

From what I have read, Chalobah and McEachran are earning more than Lewandowski and probably most of the entire Dortmund team was earning last season. Totally crazy if you ask me. -
Ray Wilkins hits out at attitude of young players

Yes, unsure why he mentioned Chalobah. He never has actually played an official game for us bar friendlies and is only 18 and doing well. -
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12016/8913231/ray-wilkins-hits-out-at-attitude-of-young-players Thought Wilkins was bang on with this. Think this will provide an interesting topic discussion. Interesting that he mentioned the likes of Chalobah and McEachran. I think it is a bit harsh on Nat because he keeps on progressing. Was almost part of a promotion winning team last season and produced moments of quality but giving him around £30k per week while not even playing a professional game for us is a sign to a player that they have already made it. I am not saying Chalobah will turn out like this but this is what the message sends out by giving him such a big contract. I do think Wilkins is right about Josh though. He has not really pushed on. I remember when he was excellent in the youth team and broke through to the first team quite quickly around the age of 17 he was then. He was regarded as an exceptional talent then and even at the age of 17 made premiership cameos against the likes of Man City and Aston Villa and even played a full CL game against Marseille IIRC. 3 years on and he has not pushed on at all. At the time of around 17/18 years old he was on just over £2k a week from what I have read but after being rewarded with a big contract around £35k a week, just seems to have got to him a little. When he was 17/18 you saw a kid who was showing that he can make the cut here and many people around the club were excited at the talent we had but now his future is in limbo. Had a loan last season where for most of it he was a regular, was playing well at first but then gradually his performances started to stall from what I have heard and was even pushed out of his natural position sometimes to then being relegated to the bench. I just feel that if we did like Wilkins recommended other clubs do by rewarding players with contracts that reflected performance related contracts instead of high wages to make sure the player stays, maybe players like Josh would of pushed on a bit more. He also has proof to back it up. As he mentioned with the Ferguson point. He has a much tougher stance on his younger players. He has brought many players through and this is done through dedication. I give Cleverley as an example. A good player now and regular in the United team. When he was around 17/18 he was not given the sort of hype that Josh was but hard work has got him where he is and now he has made his position in the team firm, he is rewarded with a deserving contract which I think is the way to follow and there are several other players he has developed who have gone on to represent England. I read the stories of RLC and what he will be earning a year despite not even playing a game for us and I think it is crazy. He does look like a real gem but I hope this contract he has been offered does not get to him because it happens far too often but I think it is crazy if he is getting the reported wages he will be on then a few years down the line he might not of even developed as much as we thought he would of. Similar with Sterling but maybe a bit harsh as I guess you can blame it on fatigue but lasts season when he broke through he ripped the PL by storm and was on around £2500 a week and after his performances he was awarded with a lucrative £30k per week contract and some Liverpool fans believe this has caused him to become far too big-headed and think it was a link with his dip in form. Just look at the players who Germany, Spain and Holland develop. There is a link. The young players have a much bigger drive and are not offered all the lucrative wages compared with the English players. I will give another example. Ravel Morrison of West Ham and formerly of United. He has improved now from what I have heard however when he was at United, was regarded as someone who would go on to replace Scholes. I remember watching him for United in the youth cup and thought he was exceptional and United wanted to reward him with a contract. But what was his main agenda I guess, money? Probably. Anyone with even better ability than him in Germany or Spain would have accepted his wages and kicked on. Just look at Ronaldo. Is naturally gifted but did not rest on his laurels and pushed for more and since then has added much more goals and is arguably the best player in the world now. Would like people to give their opinions on this but I think Wilkins was bang on.

Yes, excellent solution

The 'like' idea is fine for me. Yes most forums do not have it but it appreciates ones comments and I like that rather than write posts but you are unsure if anyone notices it. The feature is good, that does not need removing.

But the PL has much more greater players than the Brazilian league and Bale got a near astonishing 30 goals last season, most of which were probably outside the area. Bale has pretty much got everything. Pace, acceleration, power, technique, dribbling and goals and is only 24.
-
Neymar has been mix and match for Brazil. He was excellent in the confed cup but apart from that has drawn plenty of criticism for his performances. How can he be overrated when he scored 26 goals last season, none of them from the spot IIRC. He has stepped up in most big games. Destroyed United, has proved himself on the CL scene before when he terrorized the arguably then best RB in the world in Maicon. I am not going to say Neymar is overrated because he has not played a full season in Europe but Bale has nothing more to prove than him. Bale is a kind of player who can score a goal out of anything. No way is he an overrated player. The price was quite absurd but judge his performances and tell me in his game why is he an overrated player? The thing you mentioned about Bale being a big fish in a small pond can apply to Neymar as well. He was better than everyone in that team and the whole league. He is now among better players and will not be the only jewel name. Messi is still the main man and I think it will take a while, possibly longer to see if he has a bigger impact than Bale. For this season I expect him to be mainly a rotated player. Bale on the other hand is among a much better team and while I don't expect him to get as much goals as he did at Tottenham, I think he will be a big addition and I think he will be an excellent investment.

Lucky we have Willian, Mata, KDB, Schurrle and Torres who was more than likely to start anyway
-
Fair enough but in no way at all should Lukaku be thought of being loaned out to a CL. He is good enough to start for most PL sides IMO and playing in the Championship would be a ludicrous idea considering what he done in the PL last season. Even though going to a Championship team was never a realistic option, there are several other PL clubs who he could of join and possibly even European teams which would be much more beneficial. Anyway at Everton he is at a team who plays good football. To be honest if a Championship loan for Lukaku was even contemplated I would struggle to wonder if that is some kind of April fools day.
-
Why is Bale more overrated than Neymar? Bale has proven himself on the domestic scene which Neymar has not done so it is Neymar who surely has to prove the most and he is not an overrated player. He was just bought for an astronomical amount of money.

Been the best player on the pitch so far

Yeah, just seen. Amazing to see the fortunes of players at sugar daddy clubs tbh. Sterling for Liverpool earned his £30k per week wages with being a consistent first team player last season but some of our players who have not even played a game for us are earning more than quality Bundesliga players. I guess Chalobah's wages reflect our message that he is a key part of our future and to ward off interest from other clubs not too surprised we handed him down a lucrative contract.
-
Chalobah on a reported £30k per week contract without playing an official game and only 18
-
It was a joke but you did call him a moron
-
Insulting messages will not be tolerated! You have been warned!
-
No keep it. Don't get rid of it because of a few moans. Even I realised I went OTT with the squabble. Nice addition to have here
-
Sorry if you and Alex did feel I was insulting you. Of course I did not want to come across like that. Shocked how I did come across as insulting you though as I have not seen any part of my posts where I insulted you and I am unsure why you and Alex believe I insulted you. I merely agreed with Kojo to be honest, nothing more than that. Once again, sorry though if that came across like that. I guess me and others have made a big deal about it and judging by how Alex set the record straight I do agree with him. Blueschick once again, don't want to sound too repetitive, I apologize if I had offended you, it was never meant to come across like that but I can understand if you felt like that don't see me in a bad manner. Anyway even if some people don't see it as such a big thing I guess it is still a nice gesture to have. This member of the month award. It differentiates this forum from other team's forums and is unique even it might come across quite pointless and unfair. Don't stop it at the sake of a squabble I made and others made earlier. We fully understand how it works
-
You always say it how it is Kojo but firmly agree with you tbh. Nothing against anyone on this forum but like you said, members who contribute discussions on football should be nominated for this award because in the end of the day that is what the whole point is. It is good having off topic discussions but that should IMO have no influence on someone being nominated. Nothing against you Blueschick as judging by your posts you are a very nice person but I look at some of the posts last month and so many people who contribute well valid points to football discussions are ignored but some people have voted you for posting in a section which does not relate to football as much. If people judge it on the way the posts come across funny or so then that should be a separate award because it seems some people vote people in here for the sake of it. As I said nothing against you Blueschick and as you said you do post mainly in pub section even you know your football stuff But looking at the list there the only ones I can say is fair based on what they have posted is from The Skipper, Hjperdeath and Liquidator who contribute brilliant football discussions. On the other hand although I think the same members being mentioned is sometimes boring if it justified in the case of someone like The Skipper that is fair because his contributions are fantastic. Like your point on Cicero, is similar with Bushman. Some of his posts I completely disagreed with however on the other hand he has produced some well good posts that I do agree with and creates an interesting debate. As for you Kojo, I reckon your posts are very interesting. You don't get the recognition you deserve and that gets ignored but hopefully next month onwards some of the others are recognized. I just hope this award does not make people think that their posts are unappreciated and that they should not post as much anymore on this forum or that would be a shame.

Ola Aina is a very promising RB as well. Played in the Youth cup final as a schoolboy and in the games I have seen him looks like he has got a future here if all goes well. Should feature for the U21 a lot this season. Also the talent is so good that you did not even mention Boga in that team :blue scalf:
-
How is this decided who gets nominated? I got nominated but not there for some shocking reason but Ankit got around 2-3 nominations compared to Milan.Cech 1 nomination IIRC so how is it decided? Alex you are on the spotlight.... Bar that I have voted for Skipper. Hjperdeaths has been brilliant as well, you came close but I have recognized your posts and brilliant tactics analysts last month, really interesting too read

Made me laugh, will not lie. Break it down bitch

Chelsea 6-1 QPR. Torres hat-trick

I don't reckon Liverpool will finish around top 3 or so but I do reckon you are underestimating them. They look very strong this year and are the only team to have 100% record this season without conceding a goal and without arguably the joint best striker in the league. When he comes back they will surely get stronger. Moses is also a much better player than Benayoun and I reckon he will strengthen Liverpool. His ability to play wide will allow Coutinho to play in the whole behind the striker rather than out wide and in the whole is where he is at his best and the addition of Moses will allow that. I don't think we should be giving out players like Moses on loan to Liverpool. That is my personal opinion. It only strengthens them for games bar when they play us. BR has had hiss full season out the way and is now in his second season so the players seem to be adjusting to his style and enjoying their football and the defence has improved plus they have kept Suarez and that is a new signing in its own way. To rule them out would be very naive. Benayoun who when he joined Arsenal was still an inferior player to Moses IMO then and is now and he helped Arsenal finish above us and in reality his contribution with Arsenal helped us to be kicked out of the top 4. Lucky we beat Bayern to be confirmed in the CL the following season but my point is I don't agree with these loans as Moses can contribute a lot to Liverpool and I reckon he is a much better player than Benayoun and I don't agree with it especially when we know a good player like Moses is unlikely to play for us again.
