You have a point tbh. I was very impressed by Aranguiz in the Copa America but buying him for that much and bringing him into the toughest league in the world is two different things. PL is much more physical and with many players from abroad, they need time to adapt. I think it would be harsh to call it a ridiculous deal but I still will not be certain of how much of an impact he makes because of the aforementioned reasons. However if it is true that we are going after him I trust the club scouts and the decision made and will support the player but similar to what you are saying, if you were watching the Copa America you would think Eduardo Vargas should be hot property for the big clubs around Europe but nearly every single club he has gone to in Europe has been a failure for him. That is why you have to be careful when judging players on tournaments like these.

Bertrand never had a bad game for us. He rarely got starts and when he came in done very well. That season when we won the UCL, he came in to rotate for Cole against Arsenal in a 0-0 draw at the Emirates and got MOTM. In his few appearances here he performed very well. I would love to hear people's reasons why they think he is not good enough for us. He is very good defensively. Maybe Azpi is better than him defensively but that is probably because he does not venture forward as much and is less likely to get exposed. Going forward, Bertrand is probably the best offensively full back/LB in the league. Luis now, is good defensively. Was exploited a few times when he played for us but majority of games done well. Decent going forward, but does not excel in this apartment however I don't see the qualities most LB have over Bertrand. Like I was saying, he is probably the best attacking LB in the league yet he still does his job defensively. There is no coincidence that he was part of the team who had the best defensive record in the league last season.

Ivanovic is more of an untouchable than Azpi. Started every league game last season and when it comes to rotation Mourinho would play Luis at LB and still play Ivanovic at RB.

Sterling scores goals, that is the thing. He can work on his finishing but Sterling is a much more capable scorer than Arda. Arda only got 3 goals last season in all competitions (2 in the league) and the season they won the league he scored 9 (3 in the league). Sterling in a poor team got 11 goals last season (7 in the league). The season before he got 10 goals (9 league goals) despite only getting into the team late December. There is a difference. If you got 9 league goals from a player you would be quite happy with that. Especially at the age of 19. Like I said, Sterling can improve on his finishing like Hazard but Hazard and Sterling are much more goal scoring threats than Arda Turan is. I think Sterling will end up at City and he will be playing in a much better team. I think he will score a lot of goals down there. Considering how well he done when he had Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho around him, with the likes of Silva, Aguero, Toure and possibly more quality additions, I think his game will go up another level.

He wouldn't get into many. Does not mean he is inferior to them but just ebcause they don't need him. But if they sold their top choice keepers I think Begovic is capable of being no.1 at many top teams in the PL and around Europe. Money speaks a lot. He will be earning more than double as back up here than he would as starter at Stoke. Also none of the other top teams in the PL need him so have not bid for him. United might if DDG leaves but even then I think Lloris might be there no.1 target and we really need a back up keeper while the other top teams have their back up keepers sorted.

Fuck me! I should pay you to write my uni essays

Look at my post on Sterling a few pages earlier. He has missed sitters but also has done some quality finishing. He is 20 ffs and he has got into double figures two seasons running. He can improve on his finishing but like I said before, he is capable of scoring quality goals as well. I already stated the games. As you keep postings gifs and stats of Sterling, have a look at some of the goals he has scored. Let me remind you again, he is 20 and there are not much players in his age bracket who have accomplished what he has done. He is only going to get better. It looks like he will go City where he is playing with better players. The quality will show like it did when he was playing with Sturridge and Suarez.

Lol, yet he done this in the same game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9VbQCGITyw 0.08

Inter just got him in January and are happy to sell him for £12m within 6 months. That says a lot. Why you want him here I really do not know. Bayern never wanted him to despite the fact that they have 2 ageing wingers and Shaqiri when bought was meant to be a shrewd investment which obviously was not as they sold him permanently to Inter. Says a lot. Bayern and now Inter are ready to offload him. No thanks. Not even Liverpool are interested this time around.

Yeah... I wonder if you would say the same about Sterling who happened to be born in Jamaica

Oh, fair enough however we never know if Courtois will pick up a serious injury, God forbid but things happen in football. I would rather know we have a very good goalkeeper for back up. For instance last season Courtois missed a couple of games I think with injury. Incase something like that happens again this season, the difference between having a very good keeper and a decent one will show. Look how many times Cech came in and he done well. That is because we had 2 world class keepers. Begovic may not be world class but he is a very good keeper and when you consider we are buying him for less than we sold Cech for, very good deal. Also, UEFA are easing the FFP rules which will delight PSG and City. We were well in the rules of FFP rules anyway so good deal.
-
Why? Begovic is 5 years younger than Green, also HG and a better keeper in general. Perfect back up.
-
Obviously he will be well off compared to the rest of society but compared to other players in our squad, his wages are relatively low. That is his point.

In boredom. Watching Chelsea TV right now and it is showing our 5-0 victory over Norwich U21 earlier in the season. What a performance this lad put in. Such a joy to watch. On top of the quality dribbling and runs he ha been doing, scored a great free kick. Such a bonus that we have Chelsea TV because we have the best opportunity to see great talents like Boga play on a regular basis. Other fans of other clubs don't have that opportunity. Literally like Hazard on the ball when he is in the mood.

I would not say Ibra, Lewa, Benzema, Tevez or Cavani are better than Costa. I think they are all quality strikers but do I think they are better than Costa? No. I don't see why people on here are saying Lewa is in a different league to Costa. He is not. His goalscoring record in the games he has played in the BL compared to Costa in the PL is inferior IIRC. Costa is playing in a much tougher league too. 34 goal for Atletico IIRC? Fantastic. Costa 20 league goals in 24 starts in his first season here. Fantastic. Would take Costa over the majority of strikers mentioned here. Excluding Ronaldo, Messi, the only strikers that you could say are better are Aguero and Suarez imo. That is it.

Not going to go to one club to be back up to another to be back up. Does not make sense.
-
We should go for him. We need him more than Arsenal imo. Gives us that bite, passing, goals, hardworking and improves the general strength of the team. He has everything and is a quality player. Matic Fabregas Vidal Willian Hazard Costa Think that would work wonders for us. I would be so angry to see him go to Arsenal.
-
But he confirmed it was his intention to stay at the beginning of the season. He probably outscored all of them together during his loan spell and was our top scorer during pre-season but did not manage to start any of our first 4 games and oh yeah that was before Eto'o even joined. Eto'o joins then goes straight in the team. He obviously felt like a mug and felt he needed to prove himself again.I remember having this debate in the Lukaku thread a few months ago. Don't really want to go on about it again but I am not surprised at his choice to leave. He deserved to start at least one of those games but did not. Mitrovic has better technical qualities but Lukaku is faster and destroyed the Belgian league from 16. Mitrovic is exciting talent but he would find the PL a lot tougher. Lukaku is regularly getting into double figures.
-
Lukaku is better than Mitrovic. How can people call Lukaku a pussy because he left? He was never going to be no.1 choice here. Probably same reason Remy wants to leave because he got a lot less game time than expected. If Mitrovic comes here he will stagnate and will probably want to end up leaving too because of a lack of first team action. I agree he is a talent but he is not better than Lukaku.
-
I disagree. I think it is the fact that he is on around £75k p/w wages at us and there is no club who is willing to pay that much wages for him. So most teams know they will not match his wage demands anyway. Same reason when Falcao joined United, not much other teams wanted him, because of his wages. If teams knew they could get Mikel for wages around £50k p/w at a cheap price there would be a lot of teams after him.

I was looking at the Chelseayouth twitter and noticed Musonda, (assuming it is his real account) thanked the site for the video compilation made for him and he said "for the great of video of the past season and great memories @chelseayouth ⚽️". Great memories? Just seems a odd thing to say. Maybe I am being a little too sceptical but that could suggest he is off. I hope we do not lose him permanently. Especially to Arsenal who have been linked and would probably turn him into a world beater which would be really annoying to see.

Colkett is a talent but he won't be playing competitvely for the first team for a few years. Seen it before. We got too many CM and some who are better than Colkett who are no way near the team.
-
By trade, Song is a DM. Ramires is a CM who likes getting forward. We are going to have to agree to disagree but I know for sure I would feel a lot more solid in defence with Matic, Song and Fabregas instead of Ramires in there however the bonus with Ramires is that he is able to be effective on the counter attacks. Do you really think we would have more chance of scoring with Song in our team than Ramires? Of course not for me. Just look at Ramires goals over the years. Barca, City, Everton and many more. Song does not have it in him to do that because that is not his style. Ramires when given freedom to go froward can be a huge bonus.

And the level of inferiority compared to the teams they play compare to who we played, it is a massive difference.
