  1. If we have a front four of Mara, hazard, hulk and Torres your not going to find them tracking back a often as they should (see Malouda in the euros for example). Doesn't matter how good you are going forward because decent opposition ( see Germany v Italy) shall exploit defensive frailties. If your spending silly money on a CMid prefer Martinez.
  2. It's contrary to UEFA protocol to discuss personal terms with a player before having received authorization from his existing club. I believe the term is "tapping up", players have contracts for a reason. So I doubt they have agreed anything. Let Madrid have him, we need to strengthen at RW and RB, we have plent of options in midfield, and if we are really to continue playing 4-2-3-1 I feel we would need a player willing to defend a little more.
  3. Ahh I still remember Robben, guy spent more time injured than available and it had a negative effect on the team. Pato is a great player, but with Torres, Lukaka and Sturridge playing for that one spot up front I'd consider it a waste of money (think of the £100k a week wages). Far Breyer options out there, and we still need a RW!!
  4. Remember this is a concept drawing, dinstance from the pitch etcetra would not be an issue if it were to go ahead. Still it my fingers crossed regarding the consultation period, hoping that a) they pull out due to it being financially unviable or offer us the power station and co-develope the site with us, could save them some money (underground station, the power station itself?. Pains me to say it but we have to leave the Bridge, never going to be able to develope a suitable stadium on that site.
  5. Describing a 19 year old as Barca B is harsh, he moved not because of a lack of ability but because of a realization that his playing time was going to be limited given he is competing with arguable the best midfield of all time. About time we showed some faith in our youth, got an awful lot of talent which could go to waste if we splash another £40 million on a player.
  6. When you have someone declaring that we should offer £60 million or Modric you just know its time to say something. For me they seem to forget that we are talking about people. Everytime we bid for a player it has a direct impact on our existing squads morale. What do you think Josh, Romelu and Lamps are thinking? Sign up Hulk (if reasonable) and a young RB and I honestly don't see us needing to splash the cash for years. Assembled a very capable bunch of youngsters now, looking great for the future.
  7. Some of you need to calm down. You seem to forget we have already spent £40-50 million this transfer window, this is real life not football manager.
  8. Hedging our bets or applying pressure on Porto and his agent? Clubs use papers just as much as agents and players do when it comes to transfer rumours.
  9. Are you serious? Mikel is certainly no Pirlo, his distribution is poor at best, well unless your talking side ways or backwards. I think Romeu could be the answer to the problem. He makes space and is always looking to receive the ball and set the tempo. He uses the ball well and perhaps more importantly quickly, which enables us to break faster. All to often I'm stuck at a match watching our slow and predictable build up whilst the opposition get back into position. Anyways I believe modric could play in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, and let's remember it's a long season, player are going to be rested and tactics changed. Plenty of room for him in our midfield if you ditch the deadwood.
  10. Really? I thank the gods we let that over paid, over hyped, pace or a cart horse with a turning circle of a super tanker leave when we did. Made us so pedestrian / one paced in midfield and formed part of the player power committee who regularly undermined managers. Having said that I wish him well, fantastic player in his prime.
  11. I regular refer to him as fat Frank, it's said in jest since he has clearly been one off our fittest players over the last ten years. Stupid hammers, they don't call him fat now!! lol
  12. Defiantly this... oh and Simon Cowell obv.
  13. League form and performance was worrying under RDM last year, people forget games like Wigan where we were total pants (not the only example). Having said that the squad reshaping should provide better options to RDM, no more Kalouda for the last half hour. Ps - Cant wait to read what the journo's who called us a "disgrace" for not giving RDM the job write when we are 6th in November.
  14. Wtf was that... not sure im ever going to sleep properly again.
  15. My point was a reduced capacity would impact revenues, thus effecting us in terms of FFP. I just don't see developing the Bridge as a viable option. Unless the council help with some enforced purchasing of land (very unlikely). We need a 60k plus stadium, 50 just isn't big enough IMO. Oh and for the record it was a sealed bid. I'm not ruling out the Malaysians failing to find the funding (long shot). Was talk of the development costing £5 billion, besides does south west London really need another mega mall following westfields in the Bush?
  16. His contract expired, if Malouda isn't sold he won't be given another contract next year. Sure the club won't rid but he intends to see it out.
  17. Kalou and Modric and any striker we don't need em.
  18. Question. With FFP in force do you really believe we could afford the drop in revenues of redeveloping the Bridge? The whole ground would need gutting, not just one or two stands. Plus the cost of the expansion is prohibitive (20k a seat was the last figure quoted) given mac capacity would increase by 10k. No deal has been struck, Malaysians could turn out to lack the necessary funding / be rejected by planning. We need this site, it pains me but we have to leave the Bridge in order to grow as a club.
  19. Given his age this is a make or break season for him. By next year he would have to be included in our 25 man squad. He has made a hash of his loan opportunities, won't be getting first team chances with us and has something of an attitude problem. Ive seen nothing to suggest a star in the making. Only option is to sell him, may make a couple of million, and insert a sell on clause fee. Job done.
  20. Bingo well played sir. ACB was naive, figured he could change the world in six months. He should have implemented changes in style over a sustained period. Oh and not telling half the team they were shite would have helped as well. Pretty sure Pep is more experienced and more versatile then ppl give him credit for.
  21. Or go bankrupt trying to develop the site. Can you think of a viable alternative? I love the Bridge as much as the next man but a 60k stadium on the banks of the Thames with a 15k single tier would have been amazing. Imagine the noise which could have been generated. Guess there is always Olympia / Earls Court. But I think those are pretty much done deals with other property developers. Which means we are stuck in a small, outdated ground with little chance if moving in the foreseeable.
  22. FFS now what? That represented a genuine opportunity to remain in West London. I can't think of many viable sites within a couple of miles of the Bridge. Was really hoping we would get the site. We desperately need to move in order to increase revenues. Bigger ground could easily make us an extra £25 million a year.
  23. It's a lot of money, but I'm personally glad they have finally addressed our 2-3 year problem with our lack of width. Only a RBI to go and we have one hell of a young / talented squad. Just visit a few of out competitors boards, City, United, Arsenal are all commenting on the fact our forward line us scary as hell. Come on can't wait for the season to start!!!
  24. $20 an hour? You on the game Spike?
