  1. Well it's not my money, but it is our money. People like us are the ones who buy season tickets, shirts and a pie at the ground. We are tge reason Samsung offers sponsorship mobey. When your talking about a player fee and wages toppling out at nearly £80 million then you have to ask yourself is there not someone out there who offers better value for money? I'm thinking that there is, hell your talking £10 million more than we paid for Hazard, and his price was inflated due to the interest of other clubs. Only ones interested in Hulk are us.
  2. Sorry was just being sarcastic... But this deal with agent and signing fees could get closer to £50 million. not even mentioned his wages over 5 years, which may add £30 million. Reality is this guy should be £20-25 million. And he really should be commanding a wage which would amount to twice what Mata is on.
  3. Someone remind me how much zidanne cost. 38+7 for the third party = fuck off no thanks. Ridiculous sums of money, and this isn't even taking into account agent fees, bonuses and a £100k plus weekly wage. Time to look at cheaper alternatives, maybe Neymar! ?
  4. Good idea, what's their current market value?
  5. Think we need to look at purchases from a squad perspective. It's no longer a question of starting elevens given the demands of the season. And with that in mind I think he offers some versatility, certainly want someone like him when playing at home against those teams who ate parking the bus (Everton springs to mind).
  6. Got to disagree with you. Our forward line is world class, Torres is Spain's starting CF (when they play one), hazard is Belgiums star player, Mata would walk into any PL team. Only risk would be Oscar, but given his age we could always cut our losses and recoup some of the money if it doesn't work out. Not sure of the average age of the starting line ups but I'm fairly sure ours is the youngest out of those listed. That has to be a massive plus.
  7. His age is a problem but he has avoided major injury and has a great engine. He is also a wonderful passer of the ball, rarely gives the ball away, is good for 10 goals a season and loves the club. You don't ditch people like that (see Pirlo), you wrap them up in cotton wool and selectively play them when needed (see Scholes and Giggs). They are also the gel which binds squads / clubs together. There experience is invaluable...
  8. So just ditch our most consistent performer for the last decade? A Chelsea legend? Jesus what happened to loyalty, people always complain that players are fickle but then how no love in return. Makes me sad...
  9. Sounds nice when your in possession, problem comes when you lose it and we are all bent out of shape. Can't comment to much about him. But if this and the German lads bids are true then we've pulled the plug on hulk. And at £38 million I can't blame them.
  10. Jesus, people are seriously suggesting we are going to struggle next year. I for one love the approach the club have taken this year. The deadwood has gone, they have invested in youth and building a team which can fight for the next decade. They have finally addressed the problem of width, which should enable us to win those games we were only drawing last year, also think it should free up space in midfield. A decent RB and a CM or RW and that's it shut up shop and watch the team grow. I'll leave City to spend and offer silly money for players who are 28+. This is the most optimistic I've been in years.... Only way I could feel any more excited is if the club managed to agree a deal with the Malaysians regarding Battersea.
  11. Emm are they not supposed to agree a fee before personal terms are agreed? Just smacks of lazy journalism. But if true we should certainly look to raid RM, would have to make room in the squad for him.
  12. I'm afraid United are always going to have money withdrawn from the club, that's how a successful business works, it's called a dividend. That being said once they float, a majority of the debt shall be written off and they shall be competing in the transfer market. Won't be Fergi though (age) and with new manages comes massive upheaval. Looking forward to that's ?
  13. Your spending too much time on the Internet...
  14. AVB is that you? Barcelona also play a higher line, pressing the ball is the responsibility of the entire team not just your midfield. Seems some of our current squad were not comfortable with this approach, or perhaps it was due to some of our squad being incredible slow.
  15. If we have a front four of Mara, hazard, hulk and Torres your not going to find them tracking back a often as they should (see Malouda in the euros for example). Doesn't matter how good you are going forward because decent opposition ( see Germany v Italy) shall exploit defensive frailties. If your spending silly money on a CMid prefer Martinez.
  16. It's contrary to UEFA protocol to discuss personal terms with a player before having received authorization from his existing club. I believe the term is "tapping up", players have contracts for a reason. So I doubt they have agreed anything. Let Madrid have him, we need to strengthen at RW and RB, we have plent of options in midfield, and if we are really to continue playing 4-2-3-1 I feel we would need a player willing to defend a little more.
  17. Ahh I still remember Robben, guy spent more time injured than available and it had a negative effect on the team. Pato is a great player, but with Torres, Lukaka and Sturridge playing for that one spot up front I'd consider it a waste of money (think of the £100k a week wages). Far Breyer options out there, and we still need a RW!!
  18. Remember this is a concept drawing, dinstance from the pitch etcetra would not be an issue if it were to go ahead. Still it my fingers crossed regarding the consultation period, hoping that a) they pull out due to it being financially unviable or offer us the power station and co-develope the site with us, could save them some money (underground station, the power station itself?. Pains me to say it but we have to leave the Bridge, never going to be able to develope a suitable stadium on that site.
  19. Describing a 19 year old as Barca B is harsh, he moved not because of a lack of ability but because of a realization that his playing time was going to be limited given he is competing with arguable the best midfield of all time. About time we showed some faith in our youth, got an awful lot of talent which could go to waste if we splash another £40 million on a player.
  20. When you have someone declaring that we should offer £60 million or Modric you just know its time to say something. For me they seem to forget that we are talking about people. Everytime we bid for a player it has a direct impact on our existing squads morale. What do you think Josh, Romelu and Lamps are thinking? Sign up Hulk (if reasonable) and a young RB and I honestly don't see us needing to splash the cash for years. Assembled a very capable bunch of youngsters now, looking great for the future.
  21. Some of you need to calm down. You seem to forget we have already spent £40-50 million this transfer window, this is real life not football manager.
  22. Hedging our bets or applying pressure on Porto and his agent? Clubs use papers just as much as agents and players do when it comes to transfer rumours.
  23. Are you serious? Mikel is certainly no Pirlo, his distribution is poor at best, well unless your talking side ways or backwards. I think Romeu could be the answer to the problem. He makes space and is always looking to receive the ball and set the tempo. He uses the ball well and perhaps more importantly quickly, which enables us to break faster. All to often I'm stuck at a match watching our slow and predictable build up whilst the opposition get back into position. Anyways I believe modric could play in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, and let's remember it's a long season, player are going to be rested and tactics changed. Plenty of room for him in our midfield if you ditch the deadwood.
  24. Really? I thank the gods we let that over paid, over hyped, pace or a cart horse with a turning circle of a super tanker leave when we did. Made us so pedestrian / one paced in midfield and formed part of the player power committee who regularly undermined managers. Having said that I wish him well, fantastic player in his prime.
