Lampard Likely to Miss Man Utd and CL game

I can't even imagine how poor Frank and his family are feeling. Condolences to the Lampard family. RIP Pat Lampard -
The agent of Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has played down speculation linking the Italian with a move to Juventus. Federico Pastorello stated that Chelsea will have the final say on any transfer, with the Italian determined not to sour an eight-year association with the West London club. Aston Villa are one of the clubs reportedly trying to turn Cudicini’s head, while reports on Wednesday suggested Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri wants to work with the player again. Cudicini acts as back-up goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge and though Petr Cech has had more than his fair share of injury problems, the 34-year-old has still only played in 10 Premier League matches this season. “I cannot say much until the end of the season, given that Chelsea are still busy on two fronts,” said Pastorello. “The fact is, his contract expires in 2009. “We give the priority to Chelsea because London has become a second home to him after 10 years at The Blues." Pastorello revealed that Cudicini could have left the club before now, but Chelsea thwarted an offer from Manchester City last summer. “Aston Villa? We will see at the end of the season, but Cudicini has already had a great offer in England,” added Pastorello. “Last summer Eriksson wanted him at Manchester City, but Chelsea wanted to keep him.” setantasports--------------------- poor Carlo, I'm sure he wants to play week in week out but I really don't want to see him go!

New Manager Search, Summer 2008
SuperSheva7 replied to changingman2000's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Russia manager Guus Hiddink will never make a return to club management despite reports linking him with Chelsea, his agent has revealed. Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has responded to suggestions that Roman Abramovich is preparing to replace under-fire Stamford Bridge boss Avram Grant with the Dutchman, by confirming he is content to end his coaching career in international football. Van Nieuwenhuizen told BBC Sport: 'There is no chance of Guus going to Chelsea. He wants to end his career in international management. 'He signed a new deal in March that runs up to the 2010 World Cup and always honours his contracts.' Grant has largely surpassed expectations since taking over from the popular Jose Mourinho and two wins in the next week, albeit against Liverpool and Manchester United, would see the Blues with one hand on a place in the Champions League final and a renewed chance of wresting the Premier League title from the Red Devils' grasp. That has not stopped questions being raised over his future with the London club, with Hiddink, not for the first time, mooted as a possible successor. But the 61-year-old's representative Van Nieuwenhuizen was unequivocal in distancing him from the club. 'I don't know where these stories about Guus come from and I want to put an end to them once and for all,' he added. 'It isn't about money for Guus. It's about him having signed a contract and wanting to get on with his job with Russia.' soccernet.com -
Come on Chelsea! Let's try to salvage something from this season! A draw would be great to take back to the Bridge where we can cream 'em
-
Looks good but I honestly hope we don't pay 10 million for him, after all, he's just a kid.
-
Sad that those games cost us the tittle. When each one happened we all knew it would come back to bite us in the butt, and here they are now hurting us the most now at the business end of the season. Lets hope we don't drop silly points like this next season. I think we all want to beat United at home, but in the form that we are in now, I would settle for a draw and maintaining the home record. But hopefully the players will be up for it.
-
Seems like Sheva will be joining him then.
-
I think Sheva will end up going back to Milan, sad as it is. The fans wont be happy though.

What an embarrassment. Only saw the 2nd half and that was disgraceful enough, can't even imagine how bad it was in the first half.....oh wait I can! We have been playing crap for too long and I'm tired of it, or rather the inconsistency. A couple of weeks ago we were beating WHU away 4-0, and before that loosing to Barnsley. Come on now! It doesn't take an idiot to realize we've got a problem here! The end of this effing horrible season can't come soon enough. I'm ready for a MAJOR overhaul this summer.

LONDON, April 13 (Reuters) - Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini could miss the rest of the season through injury but manager Avram Grant said on Sunday he had not ruled out a quicker-than-expected return for first choice Petr Cech. Cudicini injured a hamstring during Chelsea's Champions League match against Fenerbahce in midweek and Chelsea now estimate he will spend between three and five weeks on the sidelines. But Cech, who needed 50 stitches in a facial wound following a training ground accident, has since trained wearing a mask and has not yet been ruled out of Monday's Premier League game against Wigan Athletic or Thursday's trip to Everton. 'Carlo is not available,' Grant told a news conference. I think it needs to be around four weeks but with this kind of injury sometimes it can be three or five.' soccernet.com

I hope he is alright. Why is he trying to starve himself? He is the thinnest one in the squad already. -
haha thats true, history is on our side
-
Man Utd. and Barcelona are through. Barça were very unconvincing, I think Yernited we'll beat them easily enough.
-
The game to me was pretty uninspiring, I thought if Anelka was brought on we would have scored much earlier, or even grab a 3rd or 4th. I would have been way more relaxed if we had killed off the game earlier. But oh well, we're through and we've got Loserpool next. Advantage is we play at home on the second leg but I still think we are the underdogs. Poo were able to score a couple of goals tonight even though they were a bit lucky. Everyone must be tipping them now though, especially because Benitez actually knows what he is doing...in the CL at least.

I saw that too, looked really painful.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is understood to have required an astonishing 50 stitches in the facial injury that has wrecked his comeback bid. Cech was on the brink of a return for tomorrow night's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Fenerbahce but the training-ground accident required immediate facial surgery yesterday and has now put him out of action for a further two weeks at least. Cech, who had only just recovered from an ankle injury, is believed to have been hurt in an accidental collision with Israeli defender Tal Ben-Haim. The Czech Republic international had a lengthy lay-off with a fractured skull last season and still wears a protective helmet. Manager Avram Grant had earlier confirmed the facial injury, which has rocked his preparations for the return clash with the Turks, although he stopped short of naming the other player involved. Grant confirmed: 'I don't feel so good about it. But any player who is injured does not make me happy. 'He has been a little bit unlucky this year. He was great in training and felt very good. He got injured in training and will be out for two weeks or something like that. 'It was a tackle between two players, it does not matter who the other player was. What matters is that he is injured. This year has not been a good year for him, it is his third injury.' soccernet.com---- I think the Daily Mail must have been exagerating a bit, two weeks ain't that bad.
