Havig two fullbacks who can realy control the ball going forward in azpi and iva is limiting our attack quite alot. While Iva was amazing in attack, he wont be here forever and we should slowly start to think about getting his replacement. Clyne would be nice as he is also english.

Yeah Pogba would be great. But I dont know if we can afford him as we will have to buy another CB and RB too.

Such a shame there are no real quality defenders available out there anymore. And Im not talking about quality, but you know Thuram, Cannavaro, Carvalho etc type of quality. Seems that standards dropped massively, even known to be top defenders like Kompany, hummels, silva etc have more brain farts these times than bosingwa few years ago lol.

Having a strong defense is prime thing to go far in CL. It gives you confidence going forward and control the game. Monaco has that. I knew they aint weak team but they still suprisised me big time. I though it will be a game with little goals, but they countered it perfectly.

True that, but at least they have pace, drive and power to stop their midfield. Cesc can drop deep and Willian/Hazard push more into middle with Iva, Luis/Azpi creating some width. Having Cesc in midfield next to Ramires is what I call suicidal. There must be a holding DM (or CB in this case) in there or we are screwed.

Well thats why I said vice versa. My point was that when we play bad, Cesc wont give us the spark, drive, inspiration or whatever you call it and win us a game.

If Mikel is unavailable, i think Mou will throw a cb in midfield three next to Ramires and Cesc. Maybe even Azpi or Luis but cb is more possible. Like Ramires-Zouma-Cesc He did that with Pepe and Luiz before. If we play Ramires-Cesc, we will get overrun, while Ake Im not sure he should be thrown in finale and I doubt Mou will do it either. We will see IMO. Injured or not he better step up against Psg. Its his third? game since return and should perform. He generaly performs well when we perform well and vice versa. But when things get bad, he is mo where to be seen and doesnt step up. Cesc as our key midfielder should save us like Yaya or Lamps, but he isnt that kind of player and it could hurt us big time eventualy.

Or alternatives. Its kinda dumb that we have key player who we cant use in big games. Think Real with Modric or Bayern with Schweini. Those two can play in any situation. I thought we sold Mata for the same reason that he cant play in big games efficiently... And I dont think its how we play. Its because of Cesc. He is that kind of player who will never thrive against better teams. Verratti schooled him last time and it wouldnt matter if Cesc played deep or as #10.

The thing i hate is why we buy players who cant play different styles. I know its hard, but if we play this way in big games, Cesc, Oscar or Mata in past are completel useless. Meaning our key midfielders are pointless in CL. And at that rate we will never win CL unless we have another 2012 season and we will never dominate the big games either. Midfield or Koke-Matic-Pogba would suit any style and would be more useful for us IMO. But we have Cesc and Oscar and that will have to work for now.

I think his holdup play under extensive pressure is absolute shit. And thats a problem for someone who is key playmaker and eventualy a big problem for team.

Duh. I was pointing at CL not so much at pL. In another post i said cesc is useful for pL but not CL. In pl you have small teams that cesc is perfect against. And what does statistics say about hid performnces in big games anyway? He is also the top runner but everyone who watches his games will see he gets overrun by opponent and doestn even sprint after him. And to throw stats from 5 yrs ago isnt useful in first place. He can boost stats all he wants but some prefer a CM that would deliver performnces on consistent basis including against top teams like Modric or Pirlo etc. Cesc will never boss midfield against better team and thats a fact. He isnt big game player. Your overprotection to certain players is funny. They are cute and nice personalities etc, but try to explain that cesc is big game consistent player to someone else not to me. I watched him long long time and you cant change my opinion. Cesc will if he actualy puts a good performance against psg for example but we all know its hard to happen. Btw im not saying he is shit or not useful. Just not a big game player and someone who would deliver top performances over whole season.
