Maybe wealthy yes. But that wont bring you success. From PL teams, West Ham and Sunderland made most ''big money/name'' buys and yet they are shit. West ham certainly worse than last year despite Ogbonna, Payet, Obiang etc. Sunderland even with Kaboul, Mvila and Lens; still shit too. Monaco is great example why building on young players is better than splashing cash. They have great board unlike majority of PL clubs (newcastle, west ham, sunderland or Hull last year and QPR few years ago when they spent alot too.

Stones was indeed very good, but made those two stupid mistakes that he could avoid. Any defender you pay 40m for shouldnt do that. It was Luiz type of mistake of thinking he is Messi or sth. He is defender. A CB. Being good with the ball is a plus, not primary thing he has to master. Positioning and tackling. Thats what I expect a 40m CB will be a master in it. But yet people claim he has great control on the ball and maturity. Yesterday he shown why he is at best just a young, inexperienced kid. For his age, yes he looks quite calm. But when he will face top teams under pressure here, I would prefer Cahill over him any day. At least ATM. If Cahill made those mistakes, he would be destroyed. Just saying he is 21 and already as good as Cahill makes no sense. He lacks experience, plus if we are paying 40m, he better be 10 times better than any defender we have. But he obviously isnt. Potential is one thing, but not worth 40m risk for me when you can get (or could get) current best defenders in the world for that money (example Otamendi who was world class last year, that said it was just one season). I completely agree, but for one point. Christensen is in my eyes the most overrated youth to come from academy and being so hyped. I saw him about 4 times and he was average at best. And those were u21 games, which are couple times easier than senior. IMO he shown little to be actualy considered as our future. Kalas on other hand, he was promising, but I think we completely wasted most important year of his career so far; by loaning him to Koln where he failed big time. Boro loan was decent, but I realy dont like to rate any player who didnt even play in top tier division like Germany, spain, Italy, england or france.

Running inside the penalty area to drag some defenders and release Hazard or run further so that Hazard could make through pass. Or running into penalty area so that Hazard could cross to him. But no. He just jogged nearly into Hazard and stood like a fucking idiot. You dont need to start the game do show that. I have seen him for United. For Colombia. And he was shit. Can hold the ball to some extent but he never gets in dangerous position, he doesnt create for others, he forgot how to shoot. He forgot how to positon himself. Most of all, he doesnt give a fuck. It all comes down to juve and pogba I think. Im pretty sure we want him. Coming from playing with Messi and co, to our attacking setup when someone else has the ball, surely he is thinking "wtf are they doing?" All jokes aside, he indeed looks to be two levels above anyone in this team when it comes to intelligent runs, positioning and pressing the opponent. One might think that barca wasnt great in defending but they were all about attack and possesion, but I think Mou team wont come even close to that intense pressing barca was executing in the past. Hopefuly Pedro will carry on this kind of performances through whole season.

Yeah both Pirlo and Cesc have their weaknesses that maybe can be covered. But the difference is in their qualities; Pirlo shows them in big games, Cesc doesnt.

Thats exactly why I pointed out Moutinho if Pogba wont be available. There are deep playmakers who are also absolute workhorses. Cesc isnt. But Modric, Verratti, Moutinho, Koke etc on the other hand are. While Moutinho is not tall, he is twice the player off the ball, he tracks back. You dont need typical DM for that. Matic having Moutinho next instead of Cesc will be revelation. And Moutinho would do exactly what Cesc is doing (albeit slightly less creative) plus being alot better in defense. Perfect to make Cesc work harder to get back in form. That said, I just dont see Cesc being our longterm midfielder. I just dont see it. His defensive flaws are too big. Unless we buy Pogba or someone similar and play 4:3:3. But in double pivot (terrible defending) or as #10 (cant hold ball under pressure), I dont see Cesc perform in big games. It has nothing to do with his current form tho. I have been saying that last season when he was making assist nearly every game.
